Abstract

In recent years, QuillBot, an AI-powered writing assistance tool, has gained significant attention within the academic writing sphere due to its innovative features to enhance productivity and improve the quality of written content. This study, employing the systematic literature review method, aims to explore the use of QuillBot in academic writing. A total of seventeen research publications published between 2018 and 2024 were included in this study. These articles were gathered from reliable databases such as Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, ResearchGate, Emerald Insight Journals, Springer, ScienceDirect, and Taylor & Francis. The findings discovered that, while users value its time-saving features, concerns regarding overreliance and potentially hindering critical skills development exist. QuillBot significantly enhances writing quality and efficiency by detecting errors, paraphrasing, and expanding vocabulary. It also addresses language barriers and plagiarism concerns. Additionally, its function as a complement to autonomous writing and critical thinking was highlighted, and caution against over-reliance was suggested. Therefore, further research is needed to examine its influence on academic performance, effectiveness across linguistic contexts, and function in writing instruction.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to provide an in-depth description and mapping of the various strategies used by teachers in Madrasah Aliyah (MA) to develop students’ kalām (speaking) skills, as well as to analyze the pedagogical considerations underlying the selection of these strategies. The research focuses not only on the types of strategies applied but also on the rationale, classroom needs, and instructional contexts that shape teachers’ practices in teaching speaking skills. A descriptive qualitative approach was chosen because it allows the researcher to capture the natural dynamics of classroom interaction and to understand the patterns, meanings, and considerations that emerge from teachers’ and students’ experiences. Data were collected through participatory classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation studies involving lesson plans, teacher reflection notes, and students’ task results. All data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes iterative processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers apply an eclectic set of strategies grouped into three main categories: (1) Lexical and psychological preparation, involving scaffolding, key vocabulary, and model dialogues; (2) Guided practice, including pair work, simple role-plays, and structured question–answer activities; and (3) Affective–corrective strategies, such as recasting, positive feedback, and delayed correction. The selection of these strategies is based on three primary considerations: addressing students’ psychological barriers (qalaq al-lughah), overcoming limited vocabulary that inhibits speaking fluency, and adapting to large class sizes and the lack of a supportive bī’ah lughawiyah (language environment), which requires teachers to adjust their strategies to the realities of the classroom.

Abstract

This study developed a model for predicting student academic achievement based on learning habits using the XGBoost algorithm and SHAP interpretability techniques. The secondary dataset contains 1,000 entries and 16 variables (for example, hours of study per day, mental health, frequency of exercise, social media use, hours of sleep) pre-processed including cleaning, imputation, encoding, and normalization before being divided into train–test (80:20) and validated using 5-fold CV. Three models were tested: Linear Regression, Random Forest, and XGBoost. Evaluation using RMSE, MAE, and R² showed that XGBoost achieved RMSE = 0.335, MAE = 0.266, and R² = 0.882, while Linear Regression showed the best performance according to R² in certain configurations (R² = 0.888; RMSE = 0.326). SHAP analysis revealed that the most influential features were hours of study per day, mental health scores, exercise frequency, duration of social media use, and hours spent watching Netflix. The findings confirm that students' study habits and psychological conditions are the main determinants of academic achievement variation; the use of interpretable features strengthens the readability of the model for education stakeholders. Research recommendations include testing the model on longitudinal datasets, integrating socioeconomic factors, and implementing data privacy procedures before institutional-scale implementation.

Abstract

Marketing strategies for online shopping companies are heavily influenced by purchase intention, as it plays a crucial role in increasing company revenue. With the advancement of digital technology, social media has become a dominant platform for product promotion, potentially boosting purchase intention. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media content, e-WOM, brand awareness, and influencer marketing on purchase intention among TikTok app users. Data were collected through questionnaires from TikTok app users with the TikTok Shop feature using purposive sampling with the Structural Equation Model – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The study found that social media content and e-WOM influence purchase intention, while brand awareness and influencer marketing have no effect. However, influencer marketing does influence brand awareness. This study provides implications for companies using TikTok as a digital commerce platform to focus on marketing strategies to increase purchase intention through short, creatively edited product videos, creating review incentive programs for consumers, incorporating supporting elements into their products, such as competitive pricing and guaranteed product quality, and selecting influencers who align with their target market values through authentic video content. Further research suggests expanding the geographic scope of respondents, adding independent variables, and using other applications to increase purchase intention on the TikTok app.
