Abstract

The efficacy of nationwide population control initiatives in Indonesia ought to be uniformly dispersed throughout all provinces. The decentralization policies implemented by each local government and regional differences in characteristics have, nevertheless, resulted in substantial discrepancies in TFR across all provinces in Indonesia. The efficacy of long-acting contraceptives is widely acknowledged as the primary prerequisite for mitigating the pace of population growth. In addition to reducing the TFR, the government has established goals for the equitable distribution of family planning programs across Indonesia. The implementation of family planning programs in an equitable manner will impact the birth rate reduction. The objective of this research is to examine the potential impact of contextual elements on fertility reduction via contraceptive methods in Indonesia. The findings of this research indicate that the proportion of women utilizing long-acting contraceptive methods has the most significant impact on TFR reduction in Indonesia, at -0.562. In contrast, the HDI and the number of family planning villages each have an influence of -0.12 and -0.36, respectively, on TFR reduction.

Abstract

Since assessment is an essential component of education, various assessments, both short-term and long-term, can be used throughout or at the end of the learning process. Among these, alternative assessment becomes prominent to be applied. This study reveals the teachers’ views and experiences, the potential advantages, and challenges of implementing alternative assessment in primary international schools. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaire from international primary school teachers that have experienced more than 10 years. This study discovered four notable benefits and three notable challenges that have been deduced from the current theoretical framework. The benefits can be classified into four main categories: enhancing students' performance, catering to different learning styles and preferences, emphasizing process-oriented learning, and promoting motivation. The three obstacles are to the issues of subjectivity and trustworthiness, time limitations, and the selection of the suitable methodology. Alternative assessment is crucial as it offers a valuable opportunity to improve students' learning and should be implemented to allow students to strengthen their skills. Hence, it is imperative for EFL teachers to regard alternative assessment as a viable option for classroom assessment.

Abstract

Law enforcers are trapped in the legal mechanism along with the punishment criteria determined by the legislators, for that reason our positive law has been regulated which is far from and contrary to the objective of a just law. The presence of excessive criminalization/criminalization with various kinds and types of negative law enforcement behavior in determining the criminal process, makes criminalization ultimately have a negative meaning and has the potential to hinder the development process. The research method used in this research is normative legal research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach to the abuse of authority by internal government apparatus which is detrimental to state finances. The results of this study indicate that the assessment of the Government's Internal Supervisory Apparatus on administrative errors that cause state losses needs to be revised again. Because the assessment of the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus will be followed up at the State Administrative Court. This is very risky because it is related to the element of causing harm to state finances, in fact it is the authority of the Corruption Court to decide it.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is an educational process that enables students to self-regulate when determining ideas or concepts and evolving their learning strategies to accomplish attainable outcomes. The present study investigated self-regulated learning strategies undergraduate English department students used and examined the significant relationship with students' grammar achievement. The researchers conducted a quantitative correlational design on 70 undergraduate English department students. The researchers collected the data through a self-regulated learning strategies questionnaire and students' grammar scores. The first result showed that the peer learning strategy was the dominant strategy used by students with the highest average score (M= 3.48, SD= 1.14), and the less dominant strategy with the lowest average score is time and study environment (M= 3.03, SD= 0.99). This study applied descriptive statistics using the SPSS program to describe the first research problem. The second result was analyzed using Pearson correlation, indicating a low negative correlation between self-regulated learning strategies and students' grammar achievement. Thus, this study concluded that the higher the grammar achievement students' got, the less self-regulated learning strategies they used, and the less grammar achievement students' got, the more learning strategies they used.

Abstract

The success of population control programs at the national level should be equitable across all provinces in Indonesia. However, differences in characteristics between regions and decentralization policies implemented by each local government have led to significant TFR disparities in each province in Indonesia. Long-acting contraceptives are considered effective as the main requirement to reduce the rate of population increase. The government has set targets to reduce the TFR and ensure equitable distribution of family planning programs throughout Indonesia. The equitable distribution of family planning programs will have an impact on reducing the birth rate. This study aims to see how contextual factors can reduce fertility through the use of contraceptive methods in Indonesia. The result of this study is that the percentage of women who use long-acting contraceptive methods has the largest effect on reducing TFR at -0.562, while the number of family planning villages and HDI have an effect of -0.12 and -0.36 on reducing TFR in Indonesia.

Abstract

The current study is intended to explore the typology of other-initiated self-repair in term of its frequency of occurrence and to investigate the mechanism of self-repair in an academic setting. To obtain the required data, a classroom conversational analysis was conducted in which the researchers observed a group of graduate students (19 active EFL speakers) in a state university in East Java, Indonesia. Based on the qualitative data analysis, the results of the study revealed that all typologies of other-initiated selfrepair were used depending on the aims the interlocutors try to gain since all typologies have diverse aims and ways. Of all typologies, confirming checks were dominantly used by the participants. Regarding the mechanisms, three types of mechanisms were found; full two-cycle repair, background check, and short-cut repair sequence.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the position of supplementary English programs in senior high schools in Indonesia and the use of literature and linguistics in the program. This research employed a mixed method using a survey with a semi-structured questionnaire. Twenty-seven English teachers of senior high schools in East Java were invited through the social media WhatsApp Group to fill in the Google Form. It was found that not many supplementary English programs are run in senior high schools in East Java. The small number of students in the language programs also shows that few students choose supplementary English programs over other programs. Moreover, teachers employed various literature genres, linguistics, and sociolinguistics during classroom activities. The teachers of supplementary English programs in Indonesia also introduced students to intercultural communicative competence. It can be concluded that even though the supplementary English programs in senior high schools in East Java are small in number, their implementation is thriving and promising for ELT in the future.

Abstract

This paper aims to give insight and recommend teachers to implement Virtual Reality in language learning, especially in EFL classrooms such as in Indonesia. In the digital era, the use of technology by young people cannot be separated from daily life. Therefore, teachers can use and create the course materials by implementing virtual reality in building language acquisition instead of using traditional methods and textbooks. Using interesting learning sources can enhance students’ motivation to learn. The use of Virtual Reality will give new experiences and environments for the students to learn a new language especially English.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of digital storytelling on the teaching practicum experiences of pre-service English teachers (PSET) and to delve into the challenges they encountered in creating digital storytelling, along with the strategies used to overcome these challenges. This study provided deeper understanding of the impact of digital storytelling on the learning and teaching experiences of PSET. Moreover, it provided information to face obstacles in the digital storytelling creation process. A total of 30 PSET, comprising 13 males and 17 females, engaged in their sixth-semester teaching practicum, participated in this study. Self-reflection and semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect the data. The researcher applied thematic analysis to analyze the data obtained. The findings of this study revealed that the implementation of digital storytelling yielded positive experiences for PSET, encompassing enhancements in pedagogical approaches, self-development, and technology integration into the teaching-learning process. PSET encountered various difficulties in creating digital storytelling, including seamless integration of movement, audio, images, and animations within the narrative, crafting engaging animations and narratives, and proficiency in using diverse editing applications. Moreover, the challenges encompassed collecting and curating appropriate materials and organizing a coherent storyline aligning with the lesson plans and real-world contexts. Nevertheless, PSET proposed solutions to overcome those difficulties.
