Abstract

This study investigated child-friendly education model in shaping student character within Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Pekanbaru, addressing a gap in empirical evidence for its direct impact in Indonesian Islamic schools. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test non-equivalent control group, 58 Grade 4 and 5 students participated. Data were collected via observation rubrics and student self-assessment questionnaires, validated by experts and pilot-tested for reliability, alongside qualitative teacher interviews. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0, primarily via ANCOVA to compare post-test scores while controlling for pre-test variations. The findings robustly demonstrate the model's significant positive impact on all measured character traits: honesty (F(1, 55) = 18.23, p < .001), responsibility (F(1, 55) = 22.87, p < .001), discipline (F(1, 55) = 15.67, p < .001), empathy (F(1, 55) = 10.12, p = .002), and religious values (F(1, 55) = 9.88, p = .003). Qualitative data from teacher interviews corroborated these improvements, highlighting enhanced student engagement, social cohesion, and self-regulation. While limited to a single institution, these results provide compelling evidence that a child-friendly approach effectively fosters comprehensive character development in madrasahs, encouraging its broader adoption and further longitudinal research across diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This study examines legal protection for wives under Islamic family law in Indonesia, particularly in cases involving domestic violence and infidelity, even when a prenuptial agreement has been in effect. A special case in Padang City attracted public attention because the husband violated the prenuptial agreement, which not only regulates the separation of assets but also contains clauses prohibiting violence and infidelity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the dynamics of the case from the perspective of positive Indonesian law, Islamic family law, and fiqh principles. This study uses a qualitative method with a juridical-sociological approach. Primary data was collected through interviews with the victim (RA, 32), the victim's lawyer, and judges from the Padang City Class 1A Religious Court. Secondary data were collected from legal texts, fiqh literature, and related academic studies. This analysis combines the Miles & Huberman model with the Robert E. Stake approach, including data collection, reduction, presentation, conclusion drawn, and direct interpretation. The findings of the study show that legal protection for victims is supported by various overlapping legal foundations, including the provisions of the Kompilasi Hukum Islam (KHI), the Civil Code, the Criminal Code, the Marriage Law, the Domestic Violence Law, and other related regulations. Fiqh principles such as al-umur bi maqashidiha (everything depends on intention) and ad-dharar yuzal (danger should be eliminated) also reinforce this protection. This study’s impact affirms multi-legal protection, encouraging wives to pursue justice confidently.

Abstract

The structural and optical properties of magnesium-doped titanium dioxide (Mg–TiO₂) nanocrystalline films were investigated for potential application as photoanodes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The films were synthesized via a sol-gel method using titanium(IV) isopropoxide and magnesium acetate as precursors. Mg doping concentrations ranging from 0 to 4 mol% were explored. The films were deposited onto glass substrates using the doctor blade technique and annealed at various temperatures. Characterization was carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and UV–Vis spectroscopy. XRD analysis confirmed the formation of TiO₂, MgO, and MgTiO₃ phases, with a notable decrease in crystallite size as Mg content increased. The smallest crystallite size of 12.71 nm was obtained at 4 mol% Mg doping. SEM images revealed improved surface morphology and more uniform porosity in doped films. FTIR spectra indicated no significant changes in chemical bonding, while UV–Vis analysis showed a decrease in bandgap energy from 3.8 eV to 3.4 eV with Mg doping. These modifications suggest enhanced dye adsorption and reduced charge recombination, indicating the potential of Mg-doped TiO₂ films to improve DSSC performance.
