Abstract

The 2013 curriculum demands a paradigm shift in learning, process, and evaluation, including in HOTS, MOTS, LOTS-based assessments. Using an evaluative research design, this study aims to analyze the Arabic language test items in the UAMBN Madrasah Aliyah under LP. Ma'arif Kabupaten Jepara for the Academic Year 2018/2019. The analysis includes the design and approach used in preparing the test, the content (materials) of the test, and the categorization of the quality level of the test items in the 2013 Curriculum, i.e. HOTS, MOTS, or LOTS. The results showed that: first, the approach used in preparing the test was an integrative approach for multiple-choice test questions and a discrete-point test approach for essay test questions. Second, the content of the test included Arab and Indonesian culture and civilization, Muslim figures, language level, language rules, and sentence structure. Third, Arabic language test questions in UAMBN covered HOTS, MOTS, and LOTS questions. In the multiple-choice questions, 11 questions (27.5%) were included in the LOTS category, 10 questions (25%) in the MOTS category, and 19 questions (47.5%) in the HOTS category. Meanwhile, the essay questions, which presented 4 questions (80%) for the HOTS category and 1 question (20%) for the MOTS category, were considered less proportional. Overall, the format for the Arabic test in the UAMBN Madrasah Aliyah has been proportional because it has accommodated questions with the HOTS, MOTS, and LOTS categories.

Abstract

The phenomenon of tidal flood in the northern coastal areas of Java Island, which frequently occurs nowadays, is likely a consequence of rising sea levels due to global warming. The phenomena of urbanization and industrialization in the northern coastal areas of Tegal Regency can also contribute to the increase in built-up areas, adding pressure to the land surface in the coastal regions. Additionally, intensive groundwater extraction is occurring in densely populated coastal areas due to various activities. The high concentration of industrial and residential zones along the coast of Tegal Regency, coupled with extensive land subsidence due to intensive water abstraction, can lead to subsidence phenomena. The combination of rising sea levels and land subsidence can exacerbate the impact of tidal floods, making them more widespread and severe. The coastal areas of Tegal Regency are among those frequently affected by tidal floods. Analyzing tidal floods is crucial for integrated coastal management to support regional development. Assistance in developing a tidal flood mitigation plan in this coastal area is instrumental for local governments in planning and spatial arrangement in Tegal Regency. Support has been provided to local authorities, including BAPPEDA and Litbang Tegal Regency, to plan spatial arrangements in the northern coastal areas of Tegal Regency. The assistance activities include drone photography in the most severely affected areas, such as Kramat District. Additionally, the team periodically measures elevation to help local governments identify the potential occurrence of land subsidence. Furthermore, a Forum Group Discussion has been conducted to formulate the most suitable mitigation plan considering the conditions in Tegal Regency.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) tools on English Literature students’ learning experiences. Using a quantitative approach with a structured survey, 22 students from Universitas Negeri Medan were examined regarding their frequency of AI usage, purposes, and perceptions of its impact on academic skills. The findings indicate that AI tools are predominantly used for essay writing, grammar correction, idea generation, and translation. Most students reported improved comprehension, enhanced writing skills, and increased confidence in English usage. However, concerns about dependency and the accuracy of AI outputs were also raised. While 50% of students admitted to being somewhat dependent on AI tools, a majority (54.5%) found them effective in improving overall academic performance. The study underscores the dual role of AI in education—providing efficiency and support while posing challenges to creativity and critical thinking. The results highlight the importance of a balanced approach to integrating AI in academic settings.
