Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to enhance self-regulated learning (SRL) by offering adaptive feedback and personalized support. However, the development of AI-based Learning Management Systems (LMS) tailored to SRL in secondary mathematics education remains limited, particularly in the Indonesian context. This study addresses the need for a pedagogically grounded system by focusing on the Define phase of the 4D model to identify learner needs and design requirements. A research and development (RD) approach was employed, using the Define phase of the 4D instructional design model. A needs analysis was conducted through a survey of 805 secondary and university students across Indonesia and a limited system trial with 26 teachers and students. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, complemented by qualitative feedback on usability and user expectations. Findings indicate students face significant SRL challenges, particularly in time management, sustained focus, and independent problem-solving. Participants perceived AI-supported features—such as personalized recommendations, automated feedback, and self-monitoring tools—as beneficial. The system prototype received high usability ratings across platforms, although participants emphasized that AI should complement, not replace, teacher guidance. The Define phase provided critical insights for aligning AI functionalities with SRL principles. This research offers a foundational framework for future development and highlights the importance of learner-centered, ethically grounded AI integration in mathematics education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis efektivitas model Discovery Learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis siswa melalui metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) pada 15 artikel terbitan tahun 2020-2025 yang memenuhi kriteria relevansi dan kualitas. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Discovery Learning, khususnya model Guided Discovery Learning, secara konsisten meningkatkan kemampuan refleksi siswa melalui proses penemuan yang mencakup pengamatan, pengajuan hipotesis, eksplorasi konsep, dan evaluasi strategi penyelesaian masalah. Berbagai media pembelajaran seperti Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKS) berbasis penemuan, modul digital, aplikasi GeoGebra, dan platform Learning Management System (LMS) turut memperkuat proses refleksi dengan memberikan peluang bagi siswa untuk meninjau dan memvalidasi pemahaman. Namun, implementasi model ini masih menghadapi kendala berupa keterbatasan waktu, kesiapan siswa, serta kemampuan guru dalam memberikan scaffolding yang efektif. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan perencanaan pembelajaran yang sistematis dan dukungan profesional bagi guru agar penerapan Discovery Learning dapat optimal. Kajian ini diharapkan menjadi referensi bagi pendidik dan peneliti dalam mengembangkan strategi pembelajaran matematika yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir reflektif matematis secara efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model integrated with Deep Learning on junior high school students’ mathematical reasoning ability, as well as the level of improvement after the learning intervention. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental One-Group Pretest–Posttest design. The sample consisted of one class of junior high school students who received problem-based learning with a deep learning approach over four sessions. The research instrument was a mathematical reasoning test administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality testing, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results show that the Problem Based Learning model with Deep Learning has a significant effect on students’ mathematical reasoning ability, indicated by a significance value of p < 0.05. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis revealed a moderate level of improvement. Thus, the Problem Based Learning model integrated with Deep Learning is effective in enhancing students’ mathematical reasoning ability.

Abstract

This research project is expected to develop and test an AI-based Learning Management System (LMS) contents which can promote Self-regulated learning (SRL) with secondary school mathematics students. Considering that conventional LMS have shortcomings in relation to adaptive learning, and given the increasing significance of SRL, this study bridges that gap by proposing new AI-based LMS for mathematics at high school level. Utilizing a Research and Development model combined with an embedding quasi-experiment design of 94 students, the project developed AI-enhanced LMS-based content that included; personalization, adaptive difficulty, AI tutor intervention, and asynchronous administration. The findings reveal that the AI-based LMS content was effective on math students N-Gain scores compared to traditional instruction learning but with small effect sizes. In addition, students employed the AI LMS at moderate-high SRL levels in most of its components (i.e., goal setting, self-evaluation and help seeking). What is new in this work is the development per se (using AI) of LMS content for mathematics to help support SRL, while also taking into account multi-device and user-friendly considerations. Operationally, this AI-LMS system provides a student-centric and flexible learning environment that can help students develop self-regulation of learning to promote engagement and achievement in mathematics. The unique contribution of this study is a validated AI-oriented LMS model that closes the distance between AI promise and SRL requirements in secondary mathematics education.

Abstract

This development research was motivated by students' low numeracy skills and the limited use of contextual teaching materials that integrate local wisdom in mathematics learning. This is evidenced by Indonesia's mathematics score in PISA 2022, which reached only 366, far below the OECD average of 472. Therefore, this study aimed to develop interactive e-modules based on the local wisdom of the Baduy tribe that are feasible, practical, and effective in improving students' numeracy skills in statistics. One of the contributing factors to low numeracy skills is the limited use of contextual and technology-based teaching materials, as well as learning approaches that have not fully emphasized Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and authentic problem-solving contexts. Therefore, integrating local wisdom and interactive digital media into teaching materials can be a relevant strategy to enhance students' numeracy skills. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. Data were collected through questionnaires and numeracy tests administered in the form of pretests and posttests based on AKM-type questions. Validation results from media, material, and education experts were all categorized as very feasible, while teacher and student responses were categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test using the N-gain score yielded 0.81, indicating high effectiveness. The integration of contextual cultural content, interactive features, and data visualization in the e-module can support students in understanding statistical concepts and solving real-world problems. Therefore, the developed product can serve as an alternative contextual digital learning resource to support numeracy-oriented mathematics learning in secondary schools. Penelitian pengembangan ini melatar belakangi pada rendahnya kemampuan numerasi peserta didik dan terbatasnya penggunaan bahan ajar kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan kearifan lokal dalam pembelajaran matematika. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan skor matematika Indonesia pada PISA 2022 yang hanya mencapai 366, jauh di bawah rata-rata OECD sebesar 472. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini tujuannya untuk memberi pengembangan e-modul interaktif berbasis kearifan lokal suku Baduy yang layak, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik pada materi statistika. Suatu faktor penyebab rendahnya kemampuan numerasi adalah terbatasnya penggunaan bahan ajar kontekstual berbasis teknologi, serta pendekatan pembelajaran yang belum sepenuhnya menekankan pada Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) dan konteks pemecahan masalah autentik. Oleh karena itu, pengintegrasian kearifan lokal dan media digital interaktif ke dalam bahan ajar dapat menjadi strategi yang relevan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi peserta didik. Penelitian ini memakai suatu pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE. Data dikumpul kan pada angket dan tes numerasi yang diberikan dalam bentuk pretest dan posttest berbasis soal tipe AKM. Hasil validasi dari ahli media, ahli materi, dan ahli pendidikan seluruhnya berkategori sangat layak, sementara respons guru dan peserta didik berkategori sangat praktis. Uji efektivitas menggunakan skor N-gain menghasilkan nilai 0,81 yang termasuk dalam kriteria tinggi. Pengintegrasian konten budaya kontekstual, fitur interaktif, dan visualisasi data dalam e-modul dapat membantu peserta didik dalam memahami konsep statistika dan menyelesaikan masalah kehidupan nyata. Dengan demikian, produk yang dikembangkan dapat dijadikan alternatif sumber belajar digital kontekstual untuk mendukung pembelajaran matematika berorientasi numerasi di sekolah menengah..

Abstract

Students’ mathematical literacy is an essential competency that needs to be developed to address the challenges of 21st-century learning. However, the limited availability of engaging teaching materials that are relevant to real-life contexts remains a major obstacle in improving this ability. This study aims to develop technology-based mathematics teaching materials using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker with a contextual approach to support students’ mathematical literacy skills in number pattern material for eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Bayah. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The product developed is a flipbook-based mathematics teaching material that integrates indicators of mathematical literacy skills. The product validity test based on expert evaluations indicated that the developed teaching materials were highly valid, with validation scores of 89,16% from material experts, 92,5% from media experts, and 97,22% from education experts. The practicality test results showed that the product was highly practical, with a response rate of 99,44% from educators and 94,93% from students. Furthermore, the effectiveness test based on the N-Gain Score of 57,7% indicated that the product was moderately effective in improving students’ mathematical literacy skills. The findings demonstrate an improvement in students’ mathematical literacy before and after using the developed teaching materials. Therefore, the technology-based mathematics teaching materials developed using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker with a contextual approach are considered valid, practical, and sufficiently effective in supporting students’ mathematical literacy skills. Kemampuan literasi matematis peserta didik merupakan kompetensi penting yang perlu dikembangkan untuk menghadapi tantangan pembelajaran abad ke-21. Namun, keterbatasan bahan ajar yang menarik dan relevan dengan konteks kehidupan sehari-hari masih menjadi kendala dalam meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar matematika berbasis teknologi menggunakan Kvisoft Flipbook Maker dengan pendekatan kontekstual guna mendukung kemampuan literasi matematis peserta didik pada materi pola bilangan di kelas VIII SMPN 1 Bayah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang meliputi tahap Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa bahan ajar matematika berbasis flipbook yang memuat indikator kemampuan literasi matematis. Hasil uji validitas produk berdasarkan penilaian para ahli menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan berada pada kategori sangat valid, dengan persentase penilaian dari ahli materi sebesar 89,16%, ahli media 92,5%, dan ahli pendidikan 97,22%. Hasil uji kepraktisan menunjukkan bahwa produk termasuk kategori sangat praktis, dengan persentase respon pendidik sebesar 99,44% dan respon peserta didik 94,93%. Selanjutnya, hasil uji efektivitas berdasarkan N-Gain Score sebesar 57,7% menunjukkan bahwa produk berada pada kategori cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis peserta didik. Hasil ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan bahan ajar. Dengan demikian, bahan ajar matematika berbasis Kvisoft Flipbook Maker dengan pendekatan kontekstual dinyatakan layak, praktis, dan cukup efektif untuk mendukung peningkatan kemampuan literasi matematis peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the implementation of learning using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach based on deep learning to improve students’ mathematical reflective thinking skills. The population of the study consisted of all eighth-grade students of a junior high school in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, with one class selected as the research subject. The sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design of the One-Group Pretest–Posttest type. The data were collected through tests of students’ mathematical reflective thinking skills and classroom observations, and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the average pretest score was 58.96, which increased to 74.96 in the posttest. Classroom observations indicated that students actively engaged in problem identification, group discussions, evaluation of solution strategies, and reflective reasoning during the learning process. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed (p = 0.20), and Levene’s test showed homogeneous variances (p = 0.20). The paired-sample t-test revealed a significant improvement in students’ reflective thinking skills (t = -59.084; p < 0.05). The Normalized Gain (N-Gain) calculation showed an average of 0.40, categorized as medium. Thus, the implementation of PBL based on deep learning can significantly enhance students’ mathematical reflective thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development, trends, and contributions of research in mathematics education through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The method used in this study is the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), which was conducted systematically, structurally, and transparently. The subjects of this study were scientific articles published in nationally accredited journals indexed by SINTA 1 to SINTA 4 as well as internationally reputable Scopus indexed journals relevant to mathematics education, particularly those discussing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities. Data were collected through searches on Google Scholar, SINTA, and Scopus databases using keywords such as “Problem Based Learning,” “mathematical problem-solving ability,” and “PBL in mathematics education.” The PRISMA stages included identification, screening, eligibility, and included processes to obtain articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analyzed articles were published between 2019 to 2025 and were relevant to the focus of the study. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and qualitatively by classifying articles based on research themes, methods used, and their contributions to mathematics learning. The findings revealed an increasing number of mathematics education publications in SINTA and Scopus indexed journals, focusing mainly on innovative learning models, technology integration in learning, and the improvement of students’ critical thinking and mathematical problem solving skills. Most studies employed quantitative and mixed method approaches. These findings provide a comprehensive overview of the direction of mathematics education research development in Indonesia and may serve as a reference for researchers and educators in developing more innovative, effective, and relevant studies to meet the demands of 21st century learning.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the online learning Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) to find out whether the RPP used has achieved the Student Wellbeing indicators in Lebak Regency High School, a qualitative descriptive method with techniques used for data collection through observation using the RPP assessment format and distributing questionnaires to know student responses. The results of the research show that the online learning Implementation Plan (RPP) used by teachers is good in supporting the Student Wellbeing indicators. The RPP used still does not support the Student Wellbeing indicators, this is in line with students who feel unable to understand the material presented.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) dengan pendekatan PRISMA untuk mengidentifikasi, mengevaluasi, dan menyintesis hasil penelitian secara sistematis. Data diperoleh dari Google Scholar, SINTA, DOAJ, Garuda dan Scopus pada rentang tahun 2021-2026. Berdasarkan proses seleksi, diperoleh 18 artikel yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa PBL berpengaruh positif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis melalui pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan berpusat pada siswa. Keberhasilan PBL dipengaruhi oleh media pembelajaran, keaktifan siswa, peran guru, dan kemampuan awal siswa. Selain itu, PBL lebih efektif dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
