Abstract

Professional development of teachers is ideally continuous implemented and is known by Continuous Proffesional Development (CPD). CPD is a renewal conscious knowledge and improving the competence of teachers throughout his working life. This study is a descriptive study that aims to depict of the kinds of professional development and the conception of the Lesson Study Learning Community (LSLC) on junior high science teacher in Surakarta. The subjects were science teachers of junior high school of Surakarta both public and private schools with a sample of 10 teachers. This survey study conducted in June 2016 using an open questionnaire instrument. Analysis of data used qualitative data analysis type of Miles and Huberman model which included data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions and verification. The results of this study concluded that the types of professional development carried out by the science teachers Surakarta includes activities Subject Teachers Council, education and training, workshops, and technical guidance. The study also revealed there has been no increase in professionalism is done by directly observing in the classroom is done in a sustainable manner. While Lesson Study is understood by science teachers with various understanding some of which has led to the understanding of LS as the collective activities of teachers. Abstract

This study is aimed to improvestudent’s critical thinking abilityin Biology lesson of the X-1 class SMA N 3 Surakarta through the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving with moodle application. Blended-Problem Solving is a combination of learning model in the form of face-to-face and online methods (blended learning) with approach to problem solving (problem solving) based on information and communication technology (ICT). This research was a classroom action research that divided into several cycles, each cycle includes four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research was the students of X-1 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013. The data was obtained through the test (essay test) and non-test (interviews and documentations). And be analyzed with descriptive analytical techniques then validated by triangulation techniques. The results showed that students critical thinking ability was increased in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II. Critical thinking consist of six aspects, are interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The improvement in interpretation aspect increased from 42,19% to 66,41%. Analysis aspect increased from 36,72% to 78,13%. Evaluation aspect increased from 33,59% to 78,91%. Inference aspect increased from 40,63% to 64,06%. Explanation aspect increased from 30,47% to 73,44%. Self-regulation aspect increased from 43,75% to 78,91%. The conclusion of this study explained that the implementation of Blended-Problem Solving with moodle could improve student’s critical thinking ability ofthe X-1 class at SMA N 3 Surakarta in academic year of 2012/2013.Keywords: Blended-Problem Solving, Moodle, Critical Thingking

Abstract

The study aimed to improve students' question through the implementation of Guided Inquiry Learning at class XI MIA in biology learning. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) completed in two cycles and each cycle consists of the following steps: planning, action, observation and reflection. Student’s question can be measured through the quantity and quality of questions. Data of student’s questions obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis using descriptive qualitative technique. The research procedure used a spiral model. The result of research is the increase of quantity of question number significantly in the end of cycle, while quantity of student which asking question more than 50% from total 40 students overall. Quality of questions spread to all level dimensions of cognitive processes in the end of cycle with the percentage in each level are C1 level 4,46%, C2 38,39%, C3 4,46%, C4 19,64%, C5 17,85%, and C6 15,17%. Question levels C2, C4, C5 and C6 reach the target of research, while the level of questions C1 and C3 can not reach the target research. Types of questions identified based on the dimensions of the cognitive process and the knowledge dimension in cycle II are 17 types of question.guided inquiry learning, student’s question, quantity of questions, quality of questions

Abstract

The research aimed to enhance student’s curiosity at grade X MIA by implementation of guided inquiry learning model on the topic of invertebrate. Research method was a Classroom Action Research based on the model developed by Lewin (1992). This research was performed within 3 cycles with implementation of guided inquiry learning model based on Kuhlthau (2010). The subject is grade X MIA consist of 17 men students and 22 women students. Data were obtained by questionnaire, interviews, documentation, and observation sheets of four aspects of curiosity developed by Daniel Berlyne (1960) consisted of epistemic curiosity, perceptual curiosity, specific curiosity, diversive curiosity. The result showed that the student’s curiosity in precycle: epistemic curiosity at 21% with very low category, perceptual curiosity at 8% with very low category, specific curiosity at 12% with very low category, diversive curiosity at 23% with very low category. The student’s curiosity in cycle I: epistemic curiosity at 22% with very low category, perceptual curiosity at 21% with very low category, specific curiosity at 28% with very low category, diversive curiosity at 28% with very low category. The student’s curiosity in cycle II: epistemic curiosity at 32% with low category, perceptual curiosity at 24% with very low category, specific curiosity at 35% with low category, diversive curiosity at 39% with low category. The student’s curiosity in cycle III: epistemic curiosity at 46% with medium category, perceptual curiosity at 42% with low category, specific curiosity at 42% with low category, diversive curiosity at 44% with medium category. The student’s curiosity increased from very low category (16%) in precycle becomes low category (43,5%) in cycle III and meet the target research. Based on the results of research can be concluded that guided inquiry learning model can improve students' curiosity.

Abstract

Abstrak. Artikel merupakan kajian literatur yang membahas mengenai karakterisktik sistem reproduksi manusia sebagai materi pembelajaran. Materi sistem reproduksi manusia seringkali dianggap tabu untuk diajarkan, terutama di Indonesia. Tujuan dari kajian literatur pada artikel ini adalah menganalisis karakteristik materi sistem reproduksi manusia, media pembelajaran pada sistem reproduksi manusia, keterkaitan antara guru dengan pembelajaran sistem reproduksi manusia, asesmen untuk menilai pemahaman siswa terhadap materi sistem reproduksi manusia, dan cara pemberdayaan pembelajaran sistem reproduksi manusia. Metode yang digunakan adalah pengkajian tentang literatur yang berkaitan dengan karakteristik materi sistem reproduksi manusia, literatur yang dikaji berasal dari tahun 2010 hingga 2022 yang berasal dari jurnal bertaraf nasional dan internasional. Hasil pengkajian literatur adalah diperlukan pemberdayaan dengan inovasi pada bahan ajar dan bentuk penilaian yang digunakan dalam materi sistem reproduksi manusia.Abstract. The article is a literature review that discusses the characteristics of the human reproductive system as a learning material. The material of the human reproductive system is often considered taboo to teach, especially in Indonesia. The purpose of the literature review in this article is to analyze the material characteristics of the human reproductive system, learning media in the human reproductive system, the relationship between teachers and human reproductive system learning, assessments to assess students' understanding of human reproductive system material, and how to empower human reproductive system learning. The method used is an assessment of literature related to the material characteristics of the human reproductive system, the literature studied is from 2010 to 2022 from national and international journals. The result of the literature review is that empowerment is needed with innovations in teaching materials and forms of assessment used in the material of the human reproductive system.

Abstract

The literature study discusses the relationship between explanatory ability and Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA) Task. The method used is a study of the literature related to explanatory ability and CLA Task, the literature studied from 2015 to 2022. The literature study results are CLA Task with an open-ended question, problem-based situations, and problem-solving can be used as an assessment of explanatory abilitys that consist of indicators for justifying procedures, state result, and present explanation. The achievement of the three indicators of explanatory ability that will be empowered with CLA Task needs the help of electronic module for media learning.

Abstract

Inquiry Collaborative Learning (ICL) is a learning model based on the scientific method, enhanced by collaborative elements. This model aims to encourage students not only to memorize scientific concepts but also to understand scientific processes and the attitudes of scientists. This activity aimed to evaluate the impact of training, modeling, and mentoring in implementing ICL on teachers' understanding and the quality of ICL-based lesson plans in Ngawi Regency. The program involved 80 participants, comprising 70 teachers from the IPA MGMP and 10 members of the implementing team, representing 13 public and 47 private Islamic junior high schools. The activities were conducted using a blended learning approach, including theoretical training, modeling, online mentoring for lesson plan development, and classroom implementation of ICL. The results showed a significant improvement in teachers' understanding, from 60% before the program to 85% afterward. The quality of lesson plans also improved in terms of setting learning objectives, analyzing the structure and flow of materials, designing active learning-based teaching scenarios, and evaluating the learning process. These findings affirm that ICL-based training, modeling, and mentoring effectively enhance teachers' understanding and skills in implementing scientific process-based teaching

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are important for students to develop innovative solutions. One of the learning approaches in Natural Sciences that is effective for training creative thinking is the SSI (Socio-Scientific Issues) approach. The purpose of the research was to analyze the needs of teachers and students in the development of SSI-based e-modules to empower students' creative thinking skills. Data were collected through questionnaires given to four science teachers and 119 seventh grade students from four schools located in Wonogiri, Sukoharjo, Klaten, and Gunungkidul districts. The results showed that 1) 75% of teachers have difficulties in learning science. 2) 100% of teachers feel limitations in teaching materials. 3) 75% of teachers need teaching materials that can help teach science concepts. 4) 100% of teachers agree with the development of SSI-based e-modules. 5) 54% of students feel there is something incomplete with the module used. 6) 52% of students have difficulty in learning material from books. 7) 98% of students have smartphones. 8) 96% of students need SSI-based e-modules. The conclusion of the research shows that teachers and students need SSI-based e-modules on ecology and biodiversity materials that are easily accessible and effective to empower students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The recent value integration of science and religion has become a topic of research in Indonesia, especially in developing critical-thinking skills and students’ personal religious belief. The purpose of this research is to see the results of the implementation of the DBUS (Discovery-Based Unity of Sciences) learning model analyzed in detail at each step of the learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with interactive analysis of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research sample was 101 students and two biology lecturers from UIN Walisongo Semarang, 94 students and two biology lecturers from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The results of the analysis of this research show that, by implementing the DBUS learning model, students learn constructively, meaningfully, and can apply each syntax in the learning process to develop critical-thinking skills and students’ personal religious beliefs. The DBUS learning model becomes a way to integrate the value of science and religion in developing students' abilities to learn constructively and meaningfully so they can develop critical-thinking skills and personal religious beliefs (PRB).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of the implementation of Blended Project-Based Learning with Canva media integrated with the Bioennial Website as an effort to improve low science process skills and life skills. The literature review is the selection of research methods with literature sources from various journals indexed by Google Scholar and Scopus. The study population is research journals relevant to topics for various levels of study, from Early Childhood Education to Higher Education. The search criteria are journals ranging from 2020-2025, containing keywords similar to the research topic, and full papers. The search results of journals that meet the specified inclusion criteria found a total of 940 journals. Of these, 10 journals were obtained that fit the objectives of this study. The findings showed an increase in the effectiveness of students' independent learning abilities and ease of teachers in flexible time. It can be concluded that the implementation of Blended Learning that integrates innovative and creative elements such as the Project-Based Learning model with Canva media integrated with the Bioennial Website that utilizes technology effectively, shows great potential to improve science process skills and life skills. However, achieving maximum results requires challenges that must be faced and overcome, one of which is the role of the curriculum in integrating digital technology and digital literacy to ensure that students and teachers have the space and support to develop adaptively.
