Abstract

This study aims at investigating student-athletes’ swearing motives when attending sports training program and competitions. This study involved 210 respondents (n = 201, Mage = 21.65; SD = 3.994), which were organized by the National Sports Committee of Indonesia, Jawa Tengah Province, Indonesia. Data collection used a self-rated questionnaire with a 5-Likert scale measuring for expressing anger, stressing from opponents, relieving tension and frustration, and customizing daily expression using the IBM SPSS software analyses. The results postulated that the scaled determinants empirically triggered student-athletes’ swearing motives in expressing anger (M = 2.13; SD =.922), stressing from opponents (M = 2.15; SD = 1.005), relieving tension and frustration (M = 1.98; SD = 1.019), and customizing daily expression (M = 2.10; SD = 1.087), although there were no statistically significant differences among those determinants. The dependent variable showed that F (4, 202), p = .000; Wilks’ Lambda = .58; and partial eta squared = .13, whilst the normality, linearity, and homoscedasticity consequences were not transgressive. Hence, among the determinants had positive correlations (r = .769, n = 210, p.01), where student-athletes’ swearing expression levels sequentially placed stressing from the opponents associated with expressing anger, customizing daily expression, and relieving tension and frustration. Meanwhile, social media was mostly eligible to determine gender-based swearing expressions (females = 50.4%, males = 43.2%), expressed by the local swearwords. These swearing motives constitute student-athletes’ intrinsic and extrinsic relationships, whether positive or negative actions that conditionally differentiate student-athletes’ psychological well-being across the dimensions of self-acceptance, autonomy, environment and personal maturation

Abstract

The implementation of national sports development must be in line with the national sports policies. TARSIL which is an abbreviation for trust, authority, responsibility, supervision, integration and local wisdom is considered as an ideal formula for policy making-regional autonomy related. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Indonesian Sports System (policy product) based on TARSIL values. This is a qualitative study whereby data were collected through observation, documentation, and interview. The Indonesian Sports System was used as the object of sports policy. Seven people actively participated in this study. Data analysis consisted of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the Indonesian Sports System has been implementing TARSIL values. All components of TARSIL are stated in the Indonesian Sports System. However, not all indicators of those components were stated. We suggested that TARSIL values may be used as the consideration for the upcoming sports policies at either national or regional levels.

Abstract

Students’ character building will be influenced by the school environment as well as their physical education (PE) teachers’ performance. The aim of this research is to analyse and verify the influence of school environment and PE teacher performance on elementary students’ character building. There are 20 elementary schools in Semarang, including 10 public schools and 10 private schools that are used as research samples. The research samples are taken based on cluster random sampling, which is divided into five sectors in Semarang. The qualitative method is applied in this research. The finding shows that the physical education subject gives significant advantages to the development of the students as well as supporting the students’ daily activity based on evaluations by the teacher, school headmaster, and parents. The conclusion attributed to the research is that having a supportive school environment, including facilities and infrastructure, a good proportion of objective competition, a suitable physical education teaching model that is in line with the curriculum, and a supportive and well-competent teacher working in a linear field will have a positive impact on students’ character building. This impact will be visible not only in school but also when the students are home as well

Abstract

Microteaching aims to ensure that students, as prospective educators, deserve to experience real teaching-learning situations. However, in light of recent advancements in educational technology and the increasing integration of online learning, it has been carried out online. This study aims to analyze students' competence in the online microteaching practice. This is classroom action research with three determined indicators as the basis for constructing a Likert scale questionnaire. 132/150 students are participating in this study. A descriptive statistical test was used to analyze the data, and students' opinions were also recorded to strengthen the results. Almost all students (98.4%) pretty much understand the microteaching practice, and quite well (97.7%) understand how to use the online application for online microteaching practice. Also, they are satisfied (99.9%) with the quality of online microteaching practices. In simple real-life learning practices, of the 132 respondents, only 68.1% mastered the characteristics of their students, 60.6% applied learning tools, and 60.6% implemented periodic assessments. We concluded that students' competence towards online microteaching practice is good, and they know the advantages and disadvantages of conducting an online class. However, the skills demonstrated by students in online situations were different and inconsistent with those exhibited in offline settings.
