Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk mencari tahu apakah buku paket SMK Pista sesuai dengan silabus KTSP. Dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metodologi deskriptif dan analisa konten. Teknik dalam mengumpulkan data adalah analisis dokumenter. Disamping itu, peneliti menggunakan table dokumentari checklist sebagai alat pengumpul data. Data dijabarkan dan dianalisa berdasarkan pada langkah-langkah berikut; mengambil data pelajaran berbicara bahasa Inggris dari Pista dan silabus KTSP, menetapkan kriteria-kriteria yang digunakan untuk mencocokan materi di buku paket Pista ke silabus KTSP, dan menganalisa materi berbicara bahasa Inggris dalam Pista ke silabus KTSP. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar materi berbicara bahasa Inggris pada Pista sesuai dengan silabus KTSP. Pista masih sesuai dan cocok untuk digunakan sebagai rujukan buku pegangan guru. Level persentasi kesesuaian antara Pista dan silabus KTSP sebanyak 77%. Total 23% ketidakcocokan lainnya dating dari perbedaan penempatan materi dan kosa kata bahasa Inggris yang diberikan. Key words: Sillabus KTSP. Analisa Konten. Abstract. The main interest in this research is to find out whether the textbook of vocational high school Pista is in line with KTSP syllabus. In conducting this research and achieving the result, the writer used a descriptive method and content analysis. The technique in collecting selected data was documentary analysis. Besides, documentary checklist was the research tool. The data were described and analyzed based on these steps: taking the data from Pista and KTSP syllabus, defining criteria to match speaking material in Pista to KTSP syllabus, matching and describing, and analyzing the speaking material in Pista to KTSP syllabus. The findings show that most of speaking materials in Pista are in line with KTSP syllabus. Pista is still relevant and could be used as teachers references. The percentage level of the compatibility between the speaking materials in Pista based on the calculation from checklist analysis indicator is 77%. Another 23% difference between them comes from the different placing material items and the given vocabulary. Key words: KTSP Syllabus. Content Analysis.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap pemilihan topic dalam kelas membaca. Dalam penelitian ini, jenis-jenis teks yang di amati adalah recount dan narrative yang terdiri dari empat topic dari masing-masing jenis teks. Sampel yang di amati dari penelitian ini siswa-siswa dari Madrasah Aliyah Darul Khairat Pontianak yaitu kelas XI A yang terdiri dari siswa-siswa laki-laki dan kelas XI B yang terdiri dari siswa-siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menemukan bahwa topic-topik yang di berikan umumnya sesuai untuk siswa dimana respon-respon yang diberikan oleh siswa umumnya adalah menunjukkan sikap positif. Ini berarti bahwa sikap siswa terhadap topic pilihan guru adalah sikap yang menyenangkan. Kata kunci: sikap siswa, membaca, pemilihan topic Abstract: The purpose of this research was to know students attitudes towards the topic selection in reading class. In this research, the text types observed was recount and narrative that consist of four topics from each text type. The sample being observed in this research was the students of Madrasah Aliyah Darul Khairat Pontianak class XI A that consist of male students and class XI B that consist of female students. The research used descriptive method. The result of this research found that the topics given were generally appropriate for the students where the responses given mostly shows as positive attitude. It means that the students attitudes toward teachers topic selection were favorable attitudes. Key words: Students attitude, reading, topic selection

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam pengucapan bahasa Inggris dalam bentuk teks pendek dengan menggunakan tekhnik membaca nyaring. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII SMP Pelita Ngabang Kab.Landak Provinsi Kalimantan Barat, yang terdiri dari 25 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui ceklis observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes. Data tersebut dianalisa dengan mendiskripsikan ceklis observasi dan catatan lapangan, dan menggunakan rumus mencari nilai rata-rata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam pengucapan meningkat dari tiap siklusnyamelalui tekhnik membaca nyaring dengan skor rata-rata pada siklus ke tiga yaitu 76,6 dan masuk dalam kategori cukup bagus. Kata kunci: Pengucapan, Teknik Membaca Nyaring, Teks Pendek Abstract: This research is held to improve the students pronunciation especially English words in the form short text used readin aloud. It is a Classroom Action Research which is conducted in three cycles. The subject of this research is grade VIII, which is consists 25 students. The data is collected by using observation checklist, fieldnote, and test. The data is analyzed by describing the observation checklist and filed note, and by using formula of mean score. The result indicate the students pronunciation in short text improve of each cycle by using reading aloud,it can be seen from the mean score on the third cycle was 76.6, it was categorized as good. Abstract

The purpose of conducting this research was to improve students reading comprehension of short functional text by using Team-Pair-Solo Technique at SMP PGRI 4 Pontianak in Academic Year 2011/2012. Team-Pair-Solo Technique is one of cooperative learning strategies where the students work together in small group, pair and individual. This classroom action research was intended to solve the problems that occurred in the class, which was students difficulty in comprehending a functional text involving main idea, supporting details, vocabulary and reference. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP PGRI 4 Pontianak class A which consisted of 32 students. This research was done in two cycles. To collect the data, the researcher used written test, observation checklist tables, and field notes. Key words: Team-Pair-Solo Technique, cooperative learning. Abstrak Tujuan dari dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa terhadap teks fungsional pendek melalui teknik Team-Pair-Solo pada SMP PGRI 4 Pontianak tahun pelajaran 2011/2013. Teknik Team-Pair-Solo merupakan salah satu strategi dalam pembelajaran kooperatif dimana para siswa bekerja bersama-sama dalam sebuah kelompok kecil, berpasangan dan secara individu. Penelitian Tindakan Kelas ini dimaksudkan untuk mengatasi masalah yang terjadi di dalam kelas, yaitu kesulitan siswa dalam memahami teks fungsional pendek yang meliputi ide pokok, hal-hal pedukung, perbendaharaan kata, dan kata rujukan. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswa PGRI 4 Pontianak kelas 8 (delapan) A yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan tes tertulis, tabel observasi, dan catatan lapangan. Kata kunci: Teknik Team-Pair-Solo, pembelajaran kooperatif.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted at the Eighth-Grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Pontianak in academic year 2018/2019 in the form of a classroom action research. The aim of this research was to describe how booklets can improve students’ reading comprehension on descriptive texts. The sample of this research was the students of class VIIIA which consisted of 30 students. The data were collected through observation checklist, field notes, and measurement test. This research was implemented in two cycles. The first cycle involved implementation of booklets with the topics of pet and food. It was found that by making the students explicitly aware of their learning, booklets helped build up good attention and improve students’ reading comprehension. The second cycle involved implementation of booklets with the topics of place and person. This time the students began to link new knowledge with prior knowledge to understand the descriptive text. The researcher provided pictures which illustrated unfamiliar vocabulary to help students understand the content of text. It showed that the students could construct new meaning from the pictures and could comprehend the descriptive texts. In conclusion, the use of booklet could improve students’ reading comprehension. They are now aware of learning and not hesitant to read. Keywords: Reading comprehension, Descriptive Texts, Booklets.

Abstract

AbstractThis research was aimed to examine whether or not Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy could affect students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts significantly. This research was a pre-experimental research. The sample of this research was 36 students of class X AK I that was selected by using cluster random sampling. The data were analyzed using non-parametric test in SPSS and the effect size formula. The result of the statistical calculation shows that Wilcoxon Signed-Rank was improved. The value of effect size was 1.5, greater than 0.80 (1.5 > 0.80) and it is categorized highly significant. The research findings show that teaching using Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy affected the students’ reading comprehension of narrative texts significantly. It was recommended to use QAR strategy to teach reading comprehension especially on narrative texts.Key words: Question Answer Relationship, Narrative Texts, Pre Experimental

Abstract

This research was aimed at designing listening materials based on Contextual Teaching and Learning approach for second semester of eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Ketapang. Before designing the listening materials, the writer did a preliminary study. The result showed that there were not any units which had the seven components of CTL in the units for listening to monologue texts. Therefore, the writer designed listening comprehension materials which fulfilled the seven components of CTL. The listening materials designed had fulfilled the components of CTL, principles of material design, aspects of material design and principles of listening material development. Abstract

AbstractThe aim of the study was to find out whether using Four Square Writing Method in teaching writing descriptive is effective. The form of this research was a pre-experimental study. The population of this research was the Year-10 students of SMA Negeri 8 Pontianak in academic year 2018/2019. By using cluster random sampling, the researcher took one class as the sample of this study. The sample was 35 students of X MIPA 1. The data were collected through written test. Before analyzing the data using t-test formula, the students’ test results were graded based on the scoring scale. In accordance to the findings of this study, it showed the significant effectiveness in students’ writing ability taught by using Four Square Writing Method. The obtained t-value (15.40) was higher than the critical r value (1.961) by the degree of freedom 33. It was inferred that Four Square Writing Method affects students’ descriptive writing ability significantly. Keywords: Descriptive Texts, Four Square Writing Technique, Writing

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini adalah tentang meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa menggunakan ekspresi bertanya dan memberikan pendapat melalui role play. Adapun metodologi yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang meliputi 3 (tiga) cycle. Subjek penelitian adalah kelas 8 (delapan) SMPN 2 Mandor yang terdiri dari 34 orang siswa. Dengan menggunakan teknik role play para murid dapat memainkan karakter dengan menggunakan skrip yang telah disiapkan. Disamping itu, disamping itu, para murid dapat merefleksikan kegiatan role play untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara mereka. Untuk menyelesaikan penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan observasi, test kemampuan berbicara, test grammar, tes kosa kata dan field note dengan menggunakan teknik role play perlahan-lahan kemampuan berbicara siswa meningkat demikian pula kosa kata, grammar dan pengucapan mereka.Pencapaian siswa dalam setiap cycle adalah 53.17 untuk cycle 1, 62.74 untuk cycle 2 dan 77.92 untuk cycle3. Kata Kunci: bermain peran, ketrampilan berbicara. Abstract: This research is about improving students speaking skills to express asking and giving opinion through role play. The methodology of this research is a classroom action research which consisted of 3 cycles. The subject of this research was the eighth grade students of SMPN 2 Mandor consisting of 34 students. By applying role play technique in asking and giving opinion, the students played their character using prepared scripts. In addition, the students reflected that role play activity could improve their speaking skill. Meanwhile, in collecting the data, the writer used the observation, speaking performance test, grammar test, vocabulary test and field note through role play technique, the students gradually increased their speaking skill as well as vocabulary and they also paid attention to an appropriate grammar and a proper pronunciation. The result from each cycle (53.17 on cycle 1, 62.74 on cycle 2 and 77.92 on cycle3). Even students fulfilled KKM (standard achievement) on cycle 2. Key Word: role play, speaking skill.

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe language learning strategies in listening used by a third semester student of English Education Study Program who gets high achievement in listening English comprehension. This research was a qualitative research. The subject of this research was a successful language learner from a third semester student. This research was a case study which used observation and interview as the instruments of data collecting. The observation was done using direct and indirect observation and for the interview was done using semi structured interview that supported by a narrative analysis. The result of data analysis indicated that the student who categorized as a successful language learner in listening comprehension used the four framework of  listening strategies  by Goh and Kaur (2017) as the representative of language learning strategies in listening which proposed by O’Malley and Chamot (1990). Based on the result, the student who gets high achievement in listening English comprehension employed four strategies namely directed/selective attention strategies, planning and evaluation strategies, problem solving strategies and mental translation strategies. The findings revealed that the student who categorized as a successful language learner in this research was not achieving the goal of learning instantly
