Abstract

Mangrove areas can function as habitats for spawning, rearing, and foraging for various species in them. Benthos is an organism that lives on the bottom of the water. Research on benthos distribution patterns based on substrate was carried out with the aim of studying benthos species, types of substrates, and analyzing benthos distribution patterns based on substrates in Labuhan Haji District, South Aceh District, Aceh Province. The method used in this study is the method of observation and field work. The benthos distribution pattern based on the substrate was calculated using the morphic index. Identification results found 31 species of benthos consisting of 3 classes, namely gastropods with 7 orders, bivalves with 4 orders, and malacostraca with 1 order and the type of substrate analyzed obtained 4 types of substrate namely dusty loam, sandy loam, silt and sand. The benthos distribution pattern based on the substrate obtained 2 categories, namely uniform on sandy loam and sandy clay substrates, and clustered on dusty and dusty clay substrates. Keywords:MangrovesBenthosSubstrate TypeSpread patternLabuhan Haji

Abstract

Poropuntius tawarensis is an endemic fish of Laut Tawar that is currently classified as Endangered according to the IUCN Red List. The decline in its population is caused by habitat degradation, overfishing, and the introduction of alien species that act as predators This study aims to analyze the diversity and distribution patterns the population of kawan fish (Poropuntius tawarensis) in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh Regency. Fish samples were collected from four different locations and analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener and Morisita indices. The results indicate that the diversity level of kawan fish (Poropuntius tawarensis) is classified as a "Low level of diversity," with significant differences between sampling locations. All locations (Hakim Balai Bujang: 0.796845; Toweren: 0.301815; Kelitu: 0.753952; Kala Segi: 0.467728) show a low level of diversity, which is H' 1. Analysis using the Standardized Morisita Index indicates that the distribution pattern of kawan fish (Poropuntius tawarensis) in the four study locations tends to be clumped dispersion. This is evidenced by Morisita index values greater than 1 at all sites (Hakim Balai Bujang: 1.2834; Toweren: 1.0212; Kelitu: 1.0053; Kala Segi: 1.0134). These values suggest that the fish tend to concentrate in specific areas within each village rather than being evenly distributed. Keywords:Poropuntius tawarensisLaut Tawar LakeDiversityDistribution Patterns

Abstract

The high exploitation rate due to increasing global demand caused spiny lobster vulnerable to overfishing. this study aims to assess the sustainability status of lobster fisheries, through the ecosystem approach to fisheries management (EAFM) and to examine the appropriate strategies to support the sustainability of spiny lobster fisheries in Pulo Aceh Islands, Aceh Besar district, Aceh Province. Indicators or domains used in this study are fish resources, habitats, and ecosystems, fishing techniques, economics, social, and governance, which consist of 27 attributes. Results show that the aggregate value of fish resources domain is 59.22 (moderate), habitat and ecosystem domain is 39.14, (poor), fishing technique domain is 28.62 (poor), the economic domain is 65 (good), social domain is 47.82 (moderate) and the institutional domain is 39.89 (poor). The overall aggregate value for the six domains is 46.61 (moderate), the sustainability status of the spiny lobster fishery in Pulo Aceh is in the moderate category. the fish resource domain and the economic domain are the main domains that provide a positive value for the sustainability of the lobster fishery in Pulo Aceh. However, to improve the status of lobster fisheries management in Pulo Aceh; should focus on domains that have low-value categories, which are; fishing techniques, habitats and ecosystems, and governance domain. Keywords:Spiny LobsterPulo Aceh IslandsSustainabilityManagement Strategy

Abstract

Schools should introduce environmental conservation and change awareness centered on local issues, encouraging students to share their insights and perspectives. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect of applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping on student learning outcomes in environmental conservation lesson. This study used a quasi-experimental design with the Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design consisting of control and experimental classes. The research population was all class X SMA Negeri 3 Banda Aceh students. Furthermore, purposive sampling produced a sample consisting of four classes with a total of 121 students. The learning outcomes data were obtained from the test instrument using 30 multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test with a significance level 0.05. The data analysis results show that applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping has a significant effect on learning outcomes with a significance value of p < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping positively affects learning outcomes. The results of this study provide information that problem-based learning assisted by mind mapping can be applied to conservation-based lessons.
