Abstract

Lokop is one of the villages in Serbajadi District, East Aceh Regency, Aceh Province. The village has a watershed named the river Lokop. This river is located in the Leuser Ecosystem Area which is inhabited by various aquatic biota, especially fish, with the level of diversity and distribution patterns that need to be studied and analyzed conoftened. This study used the purposive sampling method, with the parameters being the level of diversity and distribution patterns of fish in the Lokop river. Data collection was carried out at 5 observation stations based on the typology of river habitat, each station was divided into three substations representing parts of the basin, river bank and river basin approximately 50 m apart. Fish sampling is carried out at each station using a plot of 10 x 10 m2. The number of plots at each station is 9 plots with a total of 45 plots. The results showed that the diversity index (H') value of fish in the Lokop river was 2.39 in the moderate category and the distribution pattern of fish in the Lokop river has a uniform pattern and clusters. Out of a total of 17 species obtained, 8 species (47%) were clustred, 8 species (47%) were uniformly distributed and 1 species (6%) could not be analyzed because only one individual was found. Keywords:FishRiverDiversityDistribution

Abstract

Schools should introduce environmental conservation and change awareness centered on local issues, encouraging students to share their insights and perspectives. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect of applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping on student learning outcomes in environmental conservation lesson. This study used a quasi-experimental design with the Pretest-Posttest Non-Equivalent Control Group Design consisting of control and experimental classes. The research population was all class X SMA Negeri 3 Banda Aceh students. Furthermore, purposive sampling produced a sample consisting of four classes with a total of 121 students. The learning outcomes data were obtained from the test instrument using 30 multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test with a significance level 0.05. The data analysis results show that applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping has a significant effect on learning outcomes with a significance value of p < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). Thus, applying the problem-based learning model assisted by mind mapping positively affects learning outcomes. The results of this study provide information that problem-based learning assisted by mind mapping can be applied to conservation-based lessons.

Abstract

Water environmental pollution has become an urgent global concern, requiring in-depth understanding and appropriate solutions to address its adverse impacts. In the educational context, it is important for students to have a strong science literacy to be able to understand and participate in environmental protection efforts. One of the proposed approaches to improving students’ understanding of water environmental pollution is to use Android-based E-modules in biology learning. This method of research uses a systematic literature review (SLR). The SLR method is carried out in three stages so that it can obtain a combination of literature study appropriate and accurate to the research problem to be raised. The results of the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of developing Android-based E-modules in improving student science literacy in the context of biological learning about water pollution. Through a systematic approach, the study analyses a variety of relevant literary studies to draw strong conclusions about the potential of e-modules in facilitating a deeper understanding of scientific concepts related to water environmental pollution to enhance student involvement in science learning and literacy.

Abstract

Abstract

Pesisir Timur Pulau Weh (PTPW) is a water natural reserve conservation area located in the eastern part of Weh Island. The condition of coral substrates in PTPW has suffered a lot of damage based on bleaching cases that have hit Sabang waters in 2016. Coral conditions can be measured by looking at the abundance of fish indicators of the Chaetodontidae group. Therefore, this study aimed to measure coral conditions and the abundance of Chaetodontidae coral fish, as well as analyze the relationship between the percentage of coral cover and the abundance of Chaetodontidae coral fish. Data of coral were collected using the Point Intercept Transect method with a length of 50 meters, while the abundance of fish used the Underwater Visual Census technique and the Belt Transect method with a length of 50 meters and a total belt width of 5 meters. The results showed that the coral conditions in PTPW were in poor to fair condition with the highest cover at The Sumur Tiga site (36.83%) and the lowest at The Ujung Kareung site (11.5%). The highest abundance of Chaetodontidae fish was found at Ujung Seuke site (1253.3 ind/ha) and the lowest was found at Anoi Itam site (186.7 ind/ha). The results of the correlation analysis between the percentage of coral cover and the abundance of Chaetodontidae coral fish showed a positive relationship (r = 0.482), but it was not significant (p>0.05), and the regression equation obtained Y = 17.16x + 166.52 with a determination coefficient of 18.3%, which indicated that the correlation between the two variables was very weak.
