Abstract

Career development is vital in human resource management, yet often lacks systematic implementation in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including those on Kusumanegara Street, Yogyakarta. This study examines the effect of career development on employee performance, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. Using questionnaire data from MSME employees and SmartPLS 4 for analysis, results show that career development significantly influences both organizational commitment and performance. However, organizational commitment does not significantly affect performance nor mediate the relationship. These findings suggest MSMEs should adopt strategies that foster an optimal work environment to enhance employee performance.

Abstract

Employees in creative industries often struggle with work–life balance and job satisfaction due to continuous innovation demands. This study investigates the impact of social support on work–life balance, with job satisfaction as a mediator, among employees of PT Aseli Dagadu Djokdja. Survey data from eligible employees (incidental total sampling) reveal that social support significantly affects job satisfaction (β = 0.514, p < 0.001) and work–life balance (β = 0.568, p < 0.001). Although job satisfaction influences work–life balance (β = 0.251, p = 0.004), its mediating effect is not supported.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the influence of democratic leadership style and organizational environment on employee performance in the study of the Yogyakarta Post Office which is one of the state-owned companies in the service sector. Research data were collected from 85 employees of the Yogyakarta Post Office through a questionnaire with a quantitative approach using the survey method. Data analysis was carried out using multiple linear regression (SPSS). The results of the study showed that democratic leadership style and work environment have a positive and significant influence on employee performance. This proves that proactive leadership and a supportive work environment are key factors in improving employee performance. Therefore, organizations need to focus on human resource development, increasing adaptability, providing recognition, and implementing performance evaluations in order to create a more productive work environment and improve employee morale and overall performance.

Abstract

Employee voluntary behavior or Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is highly needed by companies because it can encourage organizational progress and development in the future. Therefore, companies need to pay attention to various factors influencing OCB, one of which is organizational culture. A strong organizational culture is believed to shape positive employee behavior, including the willingness to contribute beyond formal job responsibilities. In addition, spiritual leadership is also considered an important factor in enhancing OCB, although its role as a mediating variable remains debated in previous studies. This study aims to examine the factors that encourage employees to demonstrate voluntary behavior or OCB. The study employed a quantitative approach using primary data obtained through questionnaires distributed to all employees of PT Catur Kencana Manajemen, involving 52 respondents through a census technique. Based on the testing results using SmartPLS, it was found that organizational culture and spiritual leadership have a positive effect on employees’ OCB.
