Abstract

Authentic learning includes the necessary foundation in learning physics. However, the limitations of the physics module based on authentic learning have an impact on the common problem-solving skills of students. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of a static fluid module with authentic learning to practice student problem-solving skills. This research is research and development using the 4-D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Class trials using one group pre-test and post-test design. The subjects of the research trial were 33 students of class XB SMA in Banjarmasin. The data were obtained through tests of problem-solving skills. The results showed that the module was effective because the results of Mann Whitney test were sig. = 0.00; means there is a significant increase in problem-solving skills. Also, the students' problem-solving skills were in the very good category. Thus, a static fluid module with authentic learning is effective for practicing student problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Inquiry is the heart of science learning, but the process is rarely trained in elementary school students. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to produce a guided inquiry-based science module that is feasible to improve student learning outcomes of products and processes on the state of matter topic. This study uses education design research with the Tessmer model. However, this study was limited to the field test stage using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The test subjects were 30 students of class V MIS Rumbai Kapuas. The research data was obtained through the instrument of observing student activities and product-process tests. The results showed that students were able to carry out inquiry activities at each meeting well. In addition, the students' product and process n-gains were 0.48 and 0.38, respectively, with moderate criteria. Thus, the guided inquiry-based science module is feasible to improve student learning outcomes of products and processes in science learning.

Abstract

The development of critical thinking skills is one of the key factors to face the opportunities and challenges of life in the industrial era 4.0. However, this skill has not been trained properly. Therefore, the purpose of writing this paper is to analyze the effectiveness of science handouts on the material diversity of living things to improve students' critical thinking skills. This study uses formative evaluation with Tessmer Model, which is limited to small group and field tests. The trial used a one group pretest and posttest design, for a small group test on 12 students and a field test on 20 class VIII students of SMPN 1 Sungai Durian. Collecting data through critical thinking tests and interviews. The results of the research on the small group and field tests showed: (1) students' skills in interpretation, analysis, explanation, evaluation, and inference were initially low to moderate; and (2) students' critical thinking skills increased significantly at = 5%, with n-gain in the moderate criteria. Thus, the science handout based on critical thinking skills that was developed is effectively used in science learning.

Abstract

Digital literacy development is needed to live, learn and work in the era of digital technology. However, this literacy is lacking in schools. Therefore, this research aims to produce a puberty e-module using project-based learning that is feasible to improve students' digital literacy. The research design was adapted from Tessmer's formative evaluation model, which is limited to self-evaluation, expert review and one-to-one evaluation. Data collection techniques used e-module validation instruments by 3 experts and 2 practitioners and content readability assessments by students. The results showed the validation results in the aspects of design, format, material, language, presentation, and innovation were 94, 97, 94, 98, 94, and 98 with very valid criteria. In addition, the readability of the e-module content with very practical criteria. Thus, the puberty e-module using project-based learning developed is feasible to use to improve students' digital literacy.

Abstract

Science process skills underlie every student's activity in learning science at school and its application in technology and problem-solving. However, these skills are not trained enough in the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN). Therefore, the purpose of this study was to describe the profile of basic and integrated science process skills in MIN students. This research is a quantitative and qualitative descriptive study, where 79 students from 4 MINs in Hulu Sungai Utara were involved in working on a science process skills test instrument adapted from Suja (2010). The results showed the achievement of students' basic science process skills including measuring, questioning, communication, predicting, classifying, inferring, and observation; as well as the achievement of integrated science process skills including formulating hypotheses, planning experiments, interpreting data, and applying concepts with the lowest being 5.3% (hypothesizing) and the highest being 51.8% (measuring). Therefore; The profile of students' basic and integrated science process skills is still not good. Considering scientific process skills as the basic foundation in learning science, educators need to cultivate these skills in learning scientific concepts and their application in solving real life problems.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential for solving problems in everyday life. However, these skills are still lacking in physics learning at school. Therefore, this study analyzes the feasibility of the magnitude and measurement module with the learning cycle 7E based on the local potential of sago plants to improve students’ critical thinking skills. This research is a development research with a 4D model. The subjects of the limited trial were 10 students, and the field trial was 16 students from one of the MAN's in Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan. The research data were obtained through module validation sheets, critical thinking tests, and learner response questionnaires. The results showed that the content and construct validation of modules and essential thinking tests were highly valid. In addition, students’ responses in terms of ease of use of the module, the attractiveness, and the benefits of the module in physics learning in the practical category. It is concluded that the module of magnitude and measurement with learning cycle 7E, based on the local potential of sago plants developed, is feasible to improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Creative and moral characters developtment is essential in the industrial Era 4.0, but these characters are less integrated in wetland environment-based learning. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of a green chemistry module based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) to train creative and moral characters in the context of wetlands. This research uses the ADDIE development model. The validation test involved five experts or practitioners, limited trials, and implementation on groups of 15 and 35 students. Data collection utilized module validation instruments, content readability assessments, learning observations, and student responses. The validation results showed that the module had high validity with a score of 90.00. The readability of the module content was very good, with a score of 90.83. Project-based learning can be effectively carried out in limited trials and implementation. Additionally, expressed positive responses regarding of satisfaction, creativity, and moral character. It was concluded that the PjBL-based green chemistry module was feasible for use in training students to develop creative and moral characters in the context of wetlands.
