Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant changes to the world of education, including Islamic education. This study aims to analyze the ethics of AI usage and its implications for Islamic education from the perspective of sharia values and the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah). Using a library research approach, data were collected from academic literature, scientific articles, and relevant documents discussing AI, Islamic ethics, and education. The findings indicate that Islam conditionally supports technological advancement, including AI, as long as it aligns with key ethical principles such as justice, trustworthiness (amānah), responsibility, transparency, and privacy protection. AI is considered capable of enhancing the quality of religious learning through personalized content, automated instruction, and expanded access to education, particularly in remote areas. However, AI also poses a number of ethical challenges, including the potential distortion of religious understanding, the dehumanization of the teacher's role, algorithmic bias, and violations of moral and spiritual values. Therefore, a clear Islamic ethical framework is essential, along with the active involvement of scholars (‘ulamā’), increased digital literacy among educators, and the development of authentic Islamic content. With these foundations, AI can serve as a tool to support the holistic and ethical vision of Islamic education without compromising its core divine values.

The methodology employed is a quantitative descriptive approach, with data collected through closed questionnaires distributed to the head of the madrasa and teacher. The results indicate that a significant majority of respondents hold a positive perception of the implementation of this curriculum. Specifically, 28. 6% of respondents reported that IT-based IPAS learning often provides meaningful learning experiences, while another 28. 6% affirmed that such experiences consistently occur. Conversely, only 14. 3% indicated that they seldom encounter meaningful learning, and another 14. 3% reported never having such experiences. These findings suggest that the application of the IT-based Independent Curriculum can create a more contextual, interactive, and relevant IPAS learning experience. This study contributes to the development of literature on digital education innovation in elementary Islamic education institutions and provides empirical foundations for policymakers and teacher in designing technology-based learning strategies.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka berbasis Teknologi Informasi (TI) pada mata pelajaran IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) di Muhammadiyah Karangwaru Islamic Elementary School , Desa Karangwaru, Kecamatan Plupuh, Kabupaten Sragen. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of Islamic educational institutions before the emergence of madrasahs in the intellectual and social development of Muslims. The main issue addressed is the contribution of institutions such as al-dars, ribaths, mosques, kuttabs, and scholars' houses in shaping Islamic intellectuality during that time. This study employs a qualitative approach through historical and social analysis. The findings of the research indicate that these institutions were crucial in shaping Islamic intellectuality. They not only served as places to study religious teachings but also helped disseminate knowledge, share ideas, and build the social identity of Muslims. These institutions supported the exchange of ideas, research, and the teaching of knowledge, which were essential for the education of Muslim generations. In conclusion, this research emphasizes the importance of classical Islamic educational institutions in shaping Islamic civilization. These institutions fostered a holistic educational approach that integrated knowledge, religion, and spirituality. They reflect various forms of Islamic education, allowing for comprehensive and integrated learning and continuous knowledge enhancement. The legacy of Islamic educational institutions before madrasahs historically continues to influence how we understand and approach Islamic education today.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of child education according to Sa'id bin Ali bin Wahf Al-Qahthani in the book Tarbiyatul Aulad, its relevance to child education in the modern era, and the application of its principles in contemporary Islamic education practices. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach through primary and secondary literature analysis. The results show that Tarbiyatul Aulad offers a comprehensive concept of education based on tawhid, moral development, worship habits, and the development of children's intellectual, emotional, and social potential. This concept is still relevant to the needs of modern education that often emphasizes cognitive aspects, but lacks the spiritual and moral dimensions. The application of the principles of Tarbiyatul Aulad can be done through the synergy of family, school, and community in building holistic education based on Islamic values. Thus, this study confirms that Al-Qahthani's thoughts can be used as practical guidelines to strengthen Islamic education amid the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

Islamic education curriculum ideally emphasizes not only cognitive development but also the cultivation of affective and spiritual dimensions in learners. This community service program aims to socialize the concept of the Love-Based Curriculum as a new paradigm for strengthening character and spirituality within Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic elementary schools). The activity was conducted through the Teachers Working Group (Kelompok Kerja Guru or KKG) and the Principals Working Group (Kelompok Kerja Kepala Madrasah or KKM) in Plupuh Sub-district, Sragen Regency, involving 114 teachers and school principals. The program employed interactive lectures, reflective discussions, and practical sessions in designing lesson plans that integrate the values of compassion, empathy, and respect for diversity. The participatory approach enabled teachers to actively engage in understanding, contextualizing, and adapting the Love-Based Curriculum to their respective madrasah environments. The results revealed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of the importance of love-centered values in education and their growing awareness to transform classroom practices toward more humanistic and spiritual approaches. Participants agreed that the Love-Based Curriculum aligns with the vision of Islamic education as rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a mercy to all creation) and serves as a relevant response to the crisis of character and dehumanization in modern education. Therefore, this socialization program represents a strategic initial step toward developing a compassionate, empathetic, and exemplary culture within Islamic schools, paving the way for a more practical implementation of the Love-Based Curriculum in the future. Keywords: love-based curriculum, Islamic education, character, spirituality, teachers’ working group, principals’ working group.
