Abstract

Subang Regency has an important role as the rice supplier area. As one of the rice production centers in Indonesia, rice farmers address rice fields as an asset or resource. As an asset, farmers conduct rice farming activities in the rice fields with economical orientation and rely on their food source mainly from the rice production. Conversions of paddy fields have changed the socioeconomic balancing amongst the farmers. They responded to the changes by adapting to new conditions, thus farmers’ post-conversion responses are an interesting aspect to study. This research aimed to understand the rice farmers adaptations, which was involved 15 key informants using in-dept interviews and purposive sampling method of 164 respondents. The analysis of the interview results used the concept of adaptation based on objectives, timing, and then strengthened with relevant documents for the study area. This study found, that: 1) farmers tried to make adjustments in using the compensation funds, livelihood, professions, farming, and household needs; 2) farmers’ adaptation are their way to earn the income and maintain their livelihood, and 3) some farmers firmly stated that their adaptations have made newly more prosperous conditions for them.

Abstract

The absence of a landfill has increased the illegal waste disposal sites in Malaka Regency, which was established between 2013 and 2021. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze suitable and available land for the development of a landfill. The methodology used consisted of 2 analysis steps, namely land suitability and land availability. Land suitability was analyzed using a multi-criteria decision-making method, which included the slope, stone type/geology, lithology, soil type, soil texture, soil depth, soil drainage, distance from settlements, and water sources. The criteria were then weighted using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and geographic information system for overlaying. Furthermore, the results of the land suitability analysis were used to determine its availability with the aid of spatial and regional planning (RTRW), land use, and forest area maps. The results showed that the highly suitable (S1) and available terrain for the landfill in Malaka Regency covered an area of 203.37 ha or 1.73% of the regency. Also, the analysis results indicated that there was still adequate land available for the landfill.

Abstract

Abstract. The level of regional development  is marked by high availability of public facilities, such as  education, health, economic, social facilities and their accessibility. A higher of index of public facility availability means a region can support human activities well, including the economic sector. Spatial patterns  of  public facility availability in Cianjur Regency were  analized by global and local spatial autocorrelation  based on the Moran's index and the local indicator spatial association (LISA) index, respectively. A spatial weighted matrix (wij) for Moran'I and LISA  calculated based on nearest neighbor, neighbor boundary length and neighbor distance. The result showed that differences in the spatial weighted matrix of Moran's  index does not affect the spatial pattern but they do affect the Moran's I values for nearest neighbor, neighbor boundary length and neighbor distance, at 0.30; 0.22 and 0.33, respectively. Differences in the spatial weighted matrix of LISA index showed that 97% of districts have the same scatter plot and only 3% of districts have different scatter plot. The spatial pattern type of public facility evailability in Cianjur Regency is cluster where  the nothern Cianjur cluster is in HH category and the central-southern Cianjur cluster is in the LL category.Keywords. Abstract

Abstract. The availability of light in the water column determines the euphotic zone and constrains the type and the vertical distribution of benthic species. Diffuse attenuation coefficient (Kd) is an important apparent optical property (AOP) that provide information about the attenuation of the spectral down welling solar irradiance with depth in the water. Ocean color Satellite provide global coverage of optical water quality parameters at spatial and temporal resolution. Several empirical and semi-analytical models are commonly used to derive Kd at wavelength 490 nm Kd(490) from ocean colour satellite sensors. This study present about the diffuse attenuation coefficient, Kd(490) using semi-analytical approach. The dynamic Kd(490) in the Berau Estuary water was studied and compared with those derived from ocean color satellite sensor, Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS). The study indicated that Kd(490) of in situ measurement had the best correlation with the Kd(490) of MERIS data of remote sensing reflectance (Rrs) derived with FUB (Free University Berlin) algorithm (R2=0,84). The dynamic of Kd(490) from MERIS data on different date indicated that the Kd(490) have a similar pattern and decreased when going to offshore. Keywords: MERIS, Secchi disc depth, tropical coastal water, Kd(490), a semi-analytical approach

Abstract

Konawe). Kata kunci: model, kelembagaan, air baku, air bersih, ISM   ABSTRACTDecreased water availability and increased water demand has occurred in Southeast Sulawesi Konawe. This is caused by changes in land use due to continuous exploitation of land resulting in a decrease in infiltration capacity and increased surface runoff. Based on the above issues will require the development of management strategies and the role of institutions, so that the management of raw water for water supply in Konawe District can take place in a sustainable manner. This study was conducted with the aim of: (1) analyze the role of institutional on the aspects of constraint, the needs related government programs, and agencies that play a role in the management of raw water for water supply sustainable in Konawe district, and (2) develop a model of water management institutions of water supply in the Konawe District with Interpretative Structural Modeling method (ISM). The results showed that for the implementation of the model, there are three elements of the system that need to be considered. Three elements of the system with each of the key sub elements, namely: (1) constraint (decreasing function of water absorption due to reduced vegetation in the catchment area, and the lack of coordination and integration of water resources management among related stakeholders), (2) needs (increased knowledge on education and skills related apparatus, and an increased awareness of all related stakeholders), and (3) agency (BP DAS Sampara, Forum DAS Sultra and Dinas Kehutanan Konawe District) . Keywords : models, institutional, raw water, clean water, ISM

Abstract

One way to establish forest conservation is by improving the welfare of the community residing at the forests’ borders. Beekeeping has the potential to increase the income of the people around the forest. This study aims to delineate beekeeping zones bordering the forest regions. Multi-criteria analysis based geographic information system was used to delineate the ecologically suitable areas for honey bees. The parameters used included physical parameters (temperature, rainfall, distance from water source and altitude), economic parameters (distance from the roads and distance from the market) and social parameters (land use and distance from settlements). The parameters were weighed by applying analytical hierarchy process. The result was then inputted into a spatial model designed to determine the ecological suitability for honeybees. The suitable land for bees’ forages was delineated using land suitability analysis with maximum limitation method. The results of both analyses were then overlaid to delineate suitable areas for beekeeping. The analysis resulted in locating recommended areas for the cultivation of honey bees and forages around the forest periphery, by taken into account official spatial land use planning.Key words: Habitat suitability, land suitability, bee forage, land use planning
