Abstract

Guiding barrier fishing gear has been used in recent years in the mangrove, seagrass, and coral ecosystem areas of Bontang City. In previous studies, the main target, white-spotted spinefoot fish, has depreciated and degraded as a result of overfishing. This study calculates the economic benefits and attempts to analyze the management policy of guiding barrier fishing gear to overcome the depreciation and degradation problems. To calculate the economic benefits, the fisheries production approach was used, while the policy analysis used the interpretive structural model technique. During the peak season of white-spotted spinefoot fish, the average fisherman earns up to IDR400,750 per day, with a minimum of IDR103,000 and a maximum of IDR1,904,000. The optimal fishing period is nine months, after which fishermen will stop fishing in Ramadan, August, and September. There are six guiding barrier fishing gear management policies, namely: 1) open and close systems at the installation site; 2) increase the mesh size used; 3) reduce the number; 4) moratorium on new installations; 5) limit the number of owners for each fisherman; and 6) regulate the distance between guiding barrier fishing gear. Of the six policy alternatives, the top priority is to increase the mesh size used.

Abstract

The availability of fish feed has remained an obstacle in the fish cultivation until now. The dependence on fish flour, soy flour, the imported cornstarch has not been solved, though the natural resource in Indonesia supports the dependence of this raw material availability. This research was conducted by testing the use of the fermented cassava flour to substitute cornstarch as the catfish feed, by adding natural drug product, BIOIMUNÒ, which positively affected growth, immunity, and production. Research methodology used was the Completely Randomized Design with six treatments and three repetitions. Fishes with average weight of 10 g and length of 10 cm were raised in the aquarium with dimension of 60x40x40 cm, with the density of 10 fishes per aquarium. The research was conducted for 60 days with observation every 14 days. Compositions of cornstarch and cassava flour were P1 (0/200), P2 (100/100), P3 (75/125), P4 (50/150), P5 (25/175), and P6 (commercial feed), added with BIOIMUNÒ at 20 ml/kg from the extracts of Solanum ferox and Zingiber zerumbet. Feed was given three times at a percentage of 5%. This research showed the result that the best growth was in treatment (P3), with 75 g of cornstarch and 125 g of cassava flour (75/125). The highest absolute weight gain was in P3 at 132.67 ± 8.33 g. The immunity system testing was in accordance with the result of phytochemical test of positive alkaloid, negative flavonoid, and negative steroid. Survival Rate (SR) based on the variance analysis (ANOVA) had an insignificant effect (P>0.05) 93.00-100.00%. P3 feed conversion rate was 5.35±0.23. Hematocrit level and total erythrocyte with a decent score and total leukocyte increased from P6. Feed proximate test was in accordance with the standard. Total bacteria were in the normal range, the contamination test on heavy metal proved no harm against the catfishes, and the water quality was normal. In terms of economic analysis, P1-P5 were more affordable than (P6), so that it can be concluded that the fermented cassava flour can be used as a replacement of corn by adding BIOIMUNÒ as the catfish feed.

Abstract

The current concept of aquaculture technology development prioritizes zero waste discharge fish/shrimp production systems through an in situ biofiltration process to maintain water quality and recycle aquaculture waste into a highly nutritious supplementary feed source. This study aims to 1) Analyze the abundance, diversity, and dominance of plakton in tilapia rearing tanks of biofloc system with the addition of molasses and sugarcane juice as carbohydrate sources, 2) Analyzing the growth rate of tilapia specifications, weight growth, and length of tilapia (O.niloticus) in biofloc systems treated with the addition of molasses and sugarcane juice as a carbohydrate source. This study used the t-student test with a confidence level of 95%, with 2 treatments namely; P1 giving molasses; P2 giving sugarcane juice. The results showed that the addition of different carbohydrate sources in tilapia enlargement resulted in the highest tilapia weight growth in the P1 treatment with the addition of molasses has an average value of 32.97 g. P2 treatment with the addition of sugar cane juice has an average value of 24.55 g. In length growth has the highest average value in the P1 treatment given the addition of molasses which is 2.37 cm while for P2 with sugar cane juice treatment has a value of 2.27cm. The specific growth rate of tilapia was highest in the P2 treatment with an average value of 1.79% / day, while the P1 treatment had an average value of 1.51% / day. From the results of statistical analysis on weight growth and specific growth of tilapia significantly different but not significantly different from the growth of tilapia length. Plankton abundance in this study showed differences in each treatment, the results of observations from research for 30 days found data that the treatment of molasses has a plankton abundance value of 3780 individual plankton / l while for the treatment of sugar cane juice has a value of 2772 individual plankton / l. The conclusion of this study is the abundance of plankton in the fish tank. The conclusion of this study is that the abundance of plankton in the molasses pond treatment shows more diverse results and a higher abundance index compared to the sugar cane juice treatment, so the molasses-treated pond shows more fertile waters than the sugar cane juice treatment. Then for the growth of length and weight of tilapia given additional molasses showed better results than sugar cane juice, due to the addition of molasses can accelerate the growth of tilapia

The study adopts a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. Two entire classes were selected as the research sample: Class X MIA 2 as the experimental group receiving the treatment and Class X MIA 4 as the control group without treatment for comparison. The research instrument consisted of a multiple-choice test with a total of 20 items. The comparison of the average scores between the experimental group (15.89) and the control group (15.17) indicates a significant improvement in the experimental group. However, statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney U test shows no statistically significant difference between the two learning groups. The 13.68% improvement in students' learning outcomes on the Plantae material can be attributed to the implementation of the learning model used in this study.
