Abstract

This study examines the role of religious education in shaping students’ academic ethics in higher education. The research is grounded in the growing concern over academic misconduct, such as plagiarism, cheating, and data manipulation, which reflects a gap between ethical ideals and academic practices. Using a qualitative approach, this study explores how religious values are internalized and implemented in academic contexts. The findings reveal that religious education plays a strategic role in fostering core ethical values, including honesty, responsibility, integrity, discipline, justice, and moral awareness. These values contribute significantly to guiding students’ academic behavior and strengthening their internal moral control. However, the study also identifies several challenges, such as the lack of curriculum integration, the dominance of theoretical teaching methods, weak role modeling, and the influence of digital technology and academic pressure. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative approach that connects religious values with concrete academic practices. This study contributes theoretically by enriching the discourse on academic ethics and practically by offering insights for developing value-based learning strategies in higher education.

Abstract

This study examines the role of religious education as a foundational pillar in shaping students’ moral character in higher education. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving students, lecturers, and academic stakeholders. The findings reveal that religious education plays a strategic role not only as a source of moral values but also as a mechanism for internal control, moral filtering, and value integration in students’ academic lives. However, the study identifies a gap between students’ cognitive understanding of religious teachings and their actual moral practices, indicating that value internalization remains incomplete. The research further finds that core moral values such as integrity, responsibility, tolerance, and self-regulation can be effectively internalized through contextual, reflective, and experiential learning strategies. The integration of religious values becomes more meaningful when supported by consistent institutional culture, exemplary educators, and relevant pedagogical approaches. This study contributes a holistic framework for strengthening religious education as a transformative process, offering both theoretical and practical implications for developing morally grounded and socially responsible graduates in contemporary higher education contexts.

Abstract

Educational reform in early childhood education units requires adaptive and systematic change strategies to be able to meet the challenges of modern developments. However, research specifically examining the integration of facilitative, persuasive, and coercive approaches in educational reform in early childhood education units is still relatively limited. This study aims to describe and analyze educational reform strategies through facilitative, persuasive, and coercive approaches at Yunico Kindergarten in Jambi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations with the principal, teachers, education staff, and parents of students. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the facilitative approach is realized through the provision of learning facilities and infrastructure and improving teacher competency. The persuasive approach is carried out through dialogic communication, providing motivation, and strengthening a collaborative culture. Meanwhile, the coercive approach is implemented through internal regulations, supervision, and performance evaluation to maintain the consistency of the implementation of educational innovations. The integration of these three approaches forms a comprehensive and sustainable educational reform strategy at Yunico Kindergarten in Jambi.
