Abstract

Enhancing Creativity and Collaboration in Story Writing for Elementary School Students through Project-Based Learning based on Illustrated Stories. Objective: This study aims to analyze the impact of project-based learning (PjBL) model on students' creativity and collaboration in writing short stories. Methods: Involving 58 fifth grade elementary school students, this study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were designed to evaluate the impact of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on creativity and collaboration. Story writing tests focused on students' ability to produce creative works, while observations were conducted to examine students' activities during the learning process. Interviews were aimed at exploring students' and teachers' perspectives on the implementation of PjBL. The use of these various techniques provided a comprehensive picture of the influence of PjBL on students' learning process. Findings: The results showed that the implementation of PjBL increased students' involvement in the learning process, fostered creativity through the exploration of ideas, and encouraged collaboration in groups. Students became more active in organizing storylines, creating unique characters, and exploring local cultural values. PjBL also provides opportunities for students to think critically, reflectively and take responsibility for their learning outcomes. Conclusion: It was found that the implementation of PjBL proved to be an effective learning model to improve students' creative and collaborative writing skills while creating meaningful learning experiences. Keywords: project based learning, creativity, collaboration, story writing.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024138

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Differentiated instruction in Elementary School Subject: Teachers’ Perceptions. Objectives: This study aims to explore teachers’ perceptions of differentiated instruction in the Pancasila Education subject in Elementary Schools and its impacts, benefits, and challenges. Methods: The data collection was conducted by using a survey method by distributing the questionnaires to 801 respondents followed by semi-structured interviews. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using the quantitative descriptive analysis techniques and Spearman correlation tests to determine the relationship between the implementation of differentiated instruction and the aspects of teachers’ perceptions. Meanwhile, the results of the interviews were analyzed by using a descriptive qualitative approach. The elementary school subject referred to in this study is Pancasila Education. Findings: The results of the study indicated that the teachers have implemented the differentiated instruction in the Pancasila Education subject through differentiation of content, process, and product. Furthermore, the differentiated instruction was able to meet the students’ learning needs and improve motivation, participation, and learning outcomes in the Pancasila Education subject in Elementary Schools. The teachers overcame the problems in adopting differentiated instruction, including lack of understanding of this approach, difficulty in conducting diagnostic testing and high number of students. Conclusion: The differentiated instruction in teachers' perceptions can help improve the students' motivation, participation, and learning outcomes. In addition, it also helps teachers in meeting their students' learning needs. Keywords: perception, differentiated learning, pancasila education, elementary school.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024121

Abstract

Effective Learning of Pancasila Education through Technology-Based Interactive Media for Elementary School Students . Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of technology-based interactive learning media in improving students' motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes in Pancasila Education subjects in elementary schools. Methods: This study used a mixed-methods approach, combining descriptive qualitative analysis with a pretest-posttest experimental design. The research was conducted at SDN Semarangan 4 and SDN Krapyak in Godean Sub-district, Yogyakarta, involving 54 grade 5 students selected by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, observations, interviews, and pretest-posttest assessments. Findings: The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes (20.36%), activeness (18.24%), and motivation (14.64%) in the use of technology-based interactive media in learning Pancasila education. This finding is in line with constructivist theory which states that technology-based interactive media can improve students' understanding of abstract concepts through multisensory learning experiences, such as animations interactive games, and active learning. Conclusion: The application of innovative learning media in learning Pancasila education can help students in improving students' activeness, motivation, and learning outcomes. In addition, the use of interactive media helps teachers in meeting students' learning needs. This study emphasizes the need for targeted training and better access to technology to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of interactive learning media. Keywords: interactive learning media, Pancasila education, technology-based, effective learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024135

Abstract

Development of Kids Incubator Financial Literacy Program Towards Future-Ready Leaders : A Conceptual Program. Objective : This study aims to enhance financial literacy skills in students through the development of a Financial Literacy Incubator program. Financial literacy is crucial for students to make informed decisions about managing money, saving, investing, and understanding the basic principles of economics. However, current education systems often lack effective tools to teach these skills. The study addresses this gap by developing a Financial Literacy Incubator program that integrates interactive learning tools and technology to engage students in understanding financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and financial planning. Methods: The development of the program follows the PLOMP model, which includes phases of preliminary research, prototyping, and evaluation to ensure the program's validity and practicality. The program was tested with a group of students from SD Muhammadiyah Al Mujahidin, with feedback gathered from teachers and students through surveys and interviews. Findings: The results indicate that the Financial Literacy Incubator program is both valid and practical for use in elementary education, significantly enhancing students' understanding of basic financial principles and improving their financial decision-making skills. Conclusion : The study concludes that integrating interactive and technology-based tools into financial literacy education can effectively support the development of essential financial skills. Keywords : financial literacy, financial incubator, interactive learning, elementary education, technology integration.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024127

Abstract

Enhancing Fourth-Grade Elementary Students Mathematical Reasoning Skills Through the SAVI Model. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of the Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual (SAVI) model on the mathematical reasoning skills of fourth-grade students in the context of fractions and to compare its effectiveness with the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) cooperative learning model. Methods: A quantitative research approach with a quasi-experimental design was adopted. The study population comprised 100 fourth-grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Bogor, from which 50 students were selected through purposive sampling. Class IV A served as the experimental group, employing the SAVI model, while Class IV B acted as the control group, utilizing the NHT model. Data collection was conducted through validated pretests and posttests using a mathematical reasoning test with established reliability. Findings: The data analysis indicated a significant improvement in the mathematical reasoning abilities of the experimental group, which achieved a "very good" category. In contrast, the control group using the NHT model reached only a "satisfactory" category. Statistical analysis produced a t-value of 13.416, exceeding the critical t-value, with a significance level below 0.05. Conclusion: The findings conclude that the SAVI model significantly enhances the mathematical reasoning skills of fourth-grade students in the context of fractions at SD Muhammadiyah Bogor.
