Abstract

Late adolescents experience academic and social pressures that may influence their subjective well-being. However, evidence on the roles of peer social support and self-esteem in Muhammadiyah senior high schools remains limited. Therefore, this study examined the influence of peer social support and self-esteem on the subjective well-being of late adolescents. This study employed a quantitative, ex post facto approach. The research was conducted in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia, with a sample of 150 late adolescents. Sample selection in this research used a random sampling technique. In contrast, data collection used a subjective well-being scale (reliability = 0.898), a peer social support scale (reliability = 0.878), and a self-esteem scale (reliability = 0.842). Data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis. The results showed a significant effect of peer social support on self-esteem and late adolescent subjective well-being, accounting for 44.3%. Variables related to peer social support and self-esteem played an important role in shaping subjective well-being among late adolescents. This study offers a novelty by simultaneously examining both variables within a population of late adolescents in a Muhammadiyah-based educational setting. The findings highlight the importance of developing school-based interventions that strengthen supportive peer relationships and foster positive self-esteem to enhance students' subjective well-being, particularly in faith-based educational contexts

Abstract

Marital instability often leads to dissatisfaction and may result in divorce. In Indonesia, around 400,000 divorces occur annually, reflecting persistent marital dissatisfaction. This study aims to identify research gaps in the study of marital satisfaction within Indonesian psychology literature from 2019 to 2024. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study conducted a systematic content analysis of 101 journal articles retrieved via Google Scholar using Publish or Perish 8. Results show a generally increasing trend in research despite a temporary decline in publication numbers. Most studies employed quantitative methods (76.53%), correlational designs (72.37%), and focused on variables such as religiosity (12.36%). The most frequently used instrument was the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction scale (32.61%), with correlation analysis as the dominant statistical method (31.07%). The results of this study highlight prevailing trends in existing research and identify several areas requiring further investigation to enhance understanding of marital satisfaction in Indonesia. Abstract

The loss of a child represents one of the most profound and life-altering experiences for parents, particularly mothers who often hold deep emotional and psychological bonds with their children. This study aims to explore the lived experiences of grief and hope among mothers following the loss of their first child. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with four mothers who had experienced the loss of their first child. The findings reveal that grief emerges as a complex and dynamic process characterized by shock, emotional distress, anger, and gradual acceptance. At the same time, hope gradually develops through reflective meaning-making, role reorientation within the family, and spiritual engagement. The coexistence of grief and hope illustrates that psychological recovery after loss does not eliminate sorrow but allows individuals to live meaningfully alongside it. These findings highlight the importance of psychosocial and counseling support to assist bereaved mothers in reconstructing meaning and sustaining emotional resilience after profound loss.
