Abstract

Biogas is a potential renewable energy source to meet energy needs, especially in remote areas that do not have access to electricity. The process of making biogas is carried out through anaerobic fermentation of organic materials such as vegetable waste, livestock manure and agricultural waste. This research aims to design a batch type biodigester that can produce biogas from a mixture of goat manure, chicken manure and vegetable waste. Biodigester is a reactor used to produce biogas. The stirred biodigester aims to mix the substrate evenly in the biodigester and prevent the formation of scum. The biodigester designed has a capacity of 120 liters with a stirring system to increase the efficiency of biogas production. The fermentation process was carried out for 21 days by monitoring parameters such as temperature, pH, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and methane gas concentration (CH4). The results showed that the temperature and pH in the biodigester remained in optimal conditions for the activity of methanogenic microorganisms. The highest CH4 concentration measurement was recorded on day 20 at 60%, which indicates good biogas quality. In addition, the flame test on day 21 produced a blue flame, indicating a high CH4 content. The decrease in CH4 concentration at the end of the study was caused by the exhaustion of organic material. This research contributes to the development of efficient and environmentally friendly biodigester technology to produce biogas as a renewable energy source.

Abstract

Blotong merupakan limbah padat yang berasal dari pabrik gula yang berbentuk lumpur berwarna gelap. Blotong merupakan endapan nira kotor yang ditapis di rotary vacuum filter. Blotong memiliki kandungan senyawa organik yang cukup tinggi seperti C, H dan O. Namun pemanfaatan limbah blotong menjadi produk yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi masih sangat sedikit. Blotong jarang dimanfaatkan sehingga akhirnya tertumpuk di pabrik gula dan dapat menyebabkan pencemaran lingkungan, pengolahan blotong menjadi energi terbarukan dapat menjadi solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Karena blotong mengandung kandungan senyawa organik yang tinggi, maka dari itu blotong dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan biogas melalui fermentasi anaerobik. PT Energi Agro Nusantara saat ini mencari bahan baku alternatif yang efektif dalam memproduksi biogas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengatahui apakah blotong dapat menghasilkan biogas dengan kandungan metana yang tinggi sehingga dapat dijadikan bahan baku alternatif pembuatan biogas di PT. Energi Agro Nusantara. Penelitian dilakukan dengan membuat digester sederhana dengan ukuran 25 liter yang diisi dengan bahan yang diperlukan untuk fermentasi biogas, fermentasi anaerobik dilakukan selama 10 hari, kemudian gas yang dihasilkan diuku kandungan metana nya. Hasil yang didapatkan menunjukkan bahwa blotong dapat menghasilkan biogas dengan kandungan gas metana yang tinggi sehinga dapat dijadkan bahan baku alternatif dalam pembuatan biogas.

Abstract

The abundant benefits of essential oils have led to a significant increase in demand, prompting researchers to continuously explore this field to achieve optimal results. Various extraction methods can be employed to obtain essential oils. In this study, researchers used the maceration method with variations in several solvents as comparators. The resulting maceration filtrate was subsequently distilled to obtain pure essential oil, aiming to find an efficient process for essential oil production and identify the most suitable solvent for the production process. The solvents used were Methanol, Ethanol, n-Hexane, and Water. During the maceration method, a sample of 150 g lemongrass was prepared with a size of 1 cm and soaked in 1 L of solvent in a closed container for 24 hours. The filtrate was then distilled to obtain a pure product, which was further characterized using GC-MS. The research findings showed that essential oil was extracted most effectively by ethanol solvent, yielding 23.31 g, and the GC-MS analysis indicated that the lemongrass oil contained 25.75% Geraniol. It was concluded that Geraniol is more soluble in ethanol due to its closer polarity to the compounds within lemongrass oil, resulting in a higher yield compared to extractions using other solvents.

Abstract

West Sumatra has a high potential of coconut resources with most of it being processed for copra products. The pandemic situation in recent years has caused the price of copra products to fluctuate, so an alternative coconut processing is needed. Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is an alternative coconut product that can increase economic value of coconut and is needed as a supplement that can strengthen the body's immune system during the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the efforts to train the community to be able to process coconut into VCO is to conduct training activities that are directly located in the coconut farmer cluster, which is carried out in Sungai Sirah Village, South Coast District, West Sumatra. This community service activity aims to increase the competence of farmers in the village so that they can process the coconut produced into VCO, hence help their economy when the price of copra drops. The stages of the activity start from socialization, presentation on production process, and continued with demonstrating how to make VCO. Participants were divided into several small groups where they could immediately practice how to make this VCO with the correct fermentation steps. After the manufacturing process is well understood, the next step was training of how to do packaging and marketing. Farmers were trained on how to package products in order to get good quality product and then trained to sell VCO through online shop such as Facebook, Instagram, Tokopedia, etc. This activity helps add more insight in terms of processing and marketing, in which participants increase their knowledge and competence to form the basis for entrepreneurship of coconut processed products.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas V SDN 7 Cakranegara dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran ular tangga sifat cahaya pada mata pelajaran IPAS. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan juli 2024 dikelas V A pada semester ganjil 2024/2025. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. metode ini dilakukan melalui empat tahapan yaitu tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi tindakan. Keempat tahap tersebut merupakan siklus yang berlangsung secara berulang-ulang dengan langkah-langkah yang sama. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media pembelajaran ular tangga sifat cahaya dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas V A SDN 7 Cakranegara. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dengan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dari pra siklus, siklus I hingga ke siklus II. Pada saat pra siklus nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh ialah 58,6. Pada siklus 1 hasil belajar mengalami peningkatan tetapi masih dikatakan rendah karena nilai rata-rata yaitu 66.67.  Dari penggunaan media ular tangga yang dilakukan pada siklus 1 terdapat perbaikan yang diterapkan pada siklus 2 guna untuk lebih meningkatkan hasil belajar yang ingin dicapai. Sehingga pada siklus 2 terdapat peningkatan yang semula nilai rata-rata 66.667 meningkat menjadi 81.25.  sehingga dapat dikatakan bahwa media ular tangga sifat-sifat cahaya berhasil dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a global environmental issue due to its non-biodegradable nature. One potential solution is the development of eco-friendly bioplastics derived from natural materials. This study aims to develop bioplastics based on sago starch with the addition of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) from empty palm oil fruit bunches as a reinforcing filler to enhance mechanical properties. Additionally, plasticizers such as glycerol and sorbitol were added to improve the elasticity of the bioplastic. The plasticizer concentrations used were 1, 5, 10, 20, and 30% w/w. Characterization was conducted through mechanical property tests (tensile strength, elastic modulus, and elongation percentage), morphological analysis using SEM, and structural analysis with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR spectroscopy). The results showed that the addition of 5% glycerol produced a tensile strength of 26.39 MPa with an elongation of 1.2%, while 20% sorbitol yielded a tensile strength of 25.35 MPa with an elongation of 6.2%. Based on the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for plastics, the combination of sago starch and MFC with 20% sorbitol provided the best mechanical properties, with a tensile strength of 25.35 MPa and an elongation percentage of 5.6%. In conclusion, sago starch-based bioplastic with MFC from oil palm empty fruit bunches has the potential to serve as an environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic plastics.

Abstract

This article aim to provide an understanding to all readers that it is necessary to know the development of assessment tool in English Language Teaching (ELT), especially in the case of using of google classroom in the current year of covid-19 pandemic. It presents the advantages of google form, the ways to upset google form and the empirical studis on google form as an assessment tool in ELT. This article is made in the form of a study of documents and literatures whose understanding of knowledge is used as an analysis. In view of this, the Indonesian teachers should be carefully designed the worksheet in google form, so it can be function to do assessment. However, it should not use completly to replace the traditional methods.

Abstract

Sentralisasi aktivitas di wilayah perkotaan Yogyakarta mendorong pergerakan penduduk dari daerah sekitarnya ke kota, yang berpotensi menambah kemacetan lalu lintas. Kepemilikan kendaraan meningkat pesat sebesar 4% setiap tahun, sehingga kebutuhan akan layanan transportasi publik yang lebih baik menjadi sangat penting. Sebagai respons, pemerintah memperluas layanan Trans Jogja dengan meluncurkan Trayek 15 yang menghubungkan daerah-daerah utama, termasuk Palbapang dan Malioboro. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penggunaan trayek baru ini. Survei dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner pada populasi yang berada dalam jangkauan area 1000 meter, dengan sampel masyarakat setempat. Analisis data menggunakan analisis faktor, dengan mempertimbangkan 10 variabel: usia, kepemilikan kendaraan, pendapatan, pendidikan, jarak, waktu, biaya, keamanan, kenyamanan, dan keteraturan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terbentuknya tiga faktor utama yang memengaruhi pemilihan moda, yaitu kualitas pelayanan, kondisi sosial-ekonomi, dan karakteristik perjalanan. Di antara ketiga faktor tersebut, kenyamanan, pendapatan, dan waktu perjalanan terbukti memiliki pengaruh yang paling signifikan. Temuan ini menyarankan agar pemerintah meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan, terutama kenyamanan, dan memperhatikan faktor sosial-ekonomi untuk mendorong penggunaan transportasi publik di wilayah ini.

Abstract

Overweight and obesity is a condition in which there is an imbalance between the entry and exit of energy for a long time. Intermittent Fasting is one of the dietary interventions that can affect body composition such as body fat percentage and thick folds of fat under the skin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Intermittent Fasting type 5:2 on body fat percentage and thick folds of fat under the skin in individuals with overweight and obesity. This study is an experimental study using pretest and posttest group design. The number of samples was 50 people with a consecutive sampling method. The statistical test used was the paired t-test. The results showed that intermittent fasting had a significant effect on body fat percentage (p<0.001), thick folds of fat under the skin of the biceps (p=0.009), and triceps (p<0.001), while the supra iliac and subscapular parts decreased but statistically insignificant (p=0.093) and (p=0.217).

Abstract

ABSTRAK Peningkatan prevalensi Diabetes Mellitus tipe 2 (DM tipe 2) di kalangan remaja merupakan masalah kesehatan global yang semakin mendesak, termasuk di Indonesia, khususnya di Kota Jambi. oleh sebab itu, pengabdian ini bertujuan melakukan skrining dan melakukan kegiatan edukasi sebagai upaya pencegahan Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2 pada remaja di kota Jambi. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan identikiasi jenis kelamin, usia, indeks massa tubuh, dan kadar gula darah puasa. Pada kegiatan ini terdiri dari 119 responden Dimana 31,1 % laki-laki dan 68,9 % perempuan, dengan rentang usia 19-20 tahun. Indeks massa tubuh berupa 5.7% kurus berat, 13.1% kurus, 61.5% normal, 5.7% gemuk ringan dan 11.5% gemuk berat. Adapun hasil kadar gula darah puasa < 125 g/dl 99,2 % dan > 125g/dl 0,8%. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas remaja di Kota Jambi yang telah dilakukan skrining memiliki IMT dan KGD puasa dalam kategori normal. Hal ini mengindikasikan remaja di kota Jambi memiliki risiko yang rendah terhadap DM Tipe 2. Namun, terdapat 0,8% dengan KGD puasa >125 mg/dl serta 17,2% massa tubuh yang tidak ideal mengindikasikan adanya risiko prediabetes dan obesitas sebagai faktor utama dalam perkembangan DM Tipe 2. Temuan ini menyoroti pentingnya skrining dan edukasi untuk mencegah peningkatan kejadian DM Tipe 2 pada remaja. Kata kunci : gula darah puasa, diabetes mellitus tipe 2, remaja Abstract The rising prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) among adolescents is an increasing global health concern, including in Indonesia, particularly in Jambi City. In response to this issue, this community outreach aimed to conduct screening and educational activities to prevent T2DM among adolescents in Jambi City. The activities involved identifying gender, age, body mass index (BMI), and fasting blood glucose levels. 119 respondents comprised 31.1 % males and 68.9 % females aged 19-20. The BMI results showed 5.7% underweight, 13.1% slightly underweight, 61.5% average weight, 5.7% overweight, and 11.5% obese. Additionally, fasting blood glucose levels were recorded, with 99.2 % of respondents having levels below 125 mg/dL and 0.8 % above 125 mg/dL. This activity shows that most adolescents in Jambi City who have been screened have a Body Mass Index (BMI) and Fasting Blood Glucose Levels in the normal category. This indicates adolescents in Jambi have a low risk of T2DM. However, there are 0.8% of adolescents with fasting blood glucose levels above 125 mg/dl and 17.2% (non-ideal body mass), indicating a risk of prediabetes and obesity as the main factors in the development of T2DM. The findings highlight the importance of early screening and education to prevent the increasing incidence of T2DM in adolescents.
