Abstract

Background: Unexpected and unanticipated obstetric problems that can have a direct or indirect impact on the well-being of mothers and babies are considered high-risk pregnancies. Uncertainty in health conditions is felt as a life-threatening event that can threaten the lives of mothers and babies. This condition will trigger various stress responses felt by the mother. Moderate to severe stress during pregnancy greatly increases the risk of developing postpartum depression. One of the important coping sources to deal with stress is self-efficacy. Personal abilities are all aspects of an individual that can be utilized to solve problems. One of the interventions that can be used to improve coping mechanisms is self-help groups. Self Help group is a group approach to help its members solve their problems. Purpose: This study aims to determine the impact of self-help groups as therapy in the community to reduce stress responses and increase self-efficacy in high-risk pregnant women. Methods: The research design used was a quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design. 15 respondents were given intervention in 3 sessions for 90 minutes in each session. Stress response and self-efficacy were measured before and after the intervention. Data analysis was carried out using the paired sample T-test. Results: This study shows that the average assessment stress response and self-efficacy score of mothers before the self-help group therapy is 128 and 35. After the therapy, the average response stress and self-efficacy score of mothers was 86 and 53. The study shows the effect of self-help group therapy on stress response (?-value = 0,012) and self-efficacy (?-value = 0,021). Conclusion: It was concluded that self-help group therapy was effective in decreasing stress respons and improving self-efficacy for high-risk pregnant women.

Abstract

Abstract Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease with a rising prevalence, including in Indonesia. Effective management of diabetes is crucial to prevent serious complications; however, many patients still have a limited understanding of how to control their blood sugar levels. This community service program aims to assess the effectiveness of an educational program in improving patients' knowledge about diabetes management at Puskesmas Genteng Kulon, Banyuwangi. The academic program is presented in a simple, easy-to-understand approach called DORMAN (Diet, Exercise, and Monitoring Active, Normal). This program utilizes various educational media such as leaflets, posters, and blood sugar monitoring tools. A total of 46 participants who met specific criteria were involved in this program. Program evaluation was carried out using knowledge questionnaires, program satisfaction surveys, and blood sugar monitoring forms. The results of this program showed a significant improvement in patient knowledge: more than half of the patients (52.2%) who initially had insufficient knowledge improved to a good level (80.5%) after participating in the educational program. Additionally, the blood sugar levels of patients who were initially abnormal, totaling 28 patients (60.9%), improved, with 30 patients (65.2%) achieving normal blood sugar levels after the education. These findings emphasize the importance of education grounded in clear, applicable information for self-management of diabetes. This program is expected to have a positive impact on community-level efforts to prevent diabetes complications.

Abstract

Run optimally. The calculation of the need for health workers is usually based on several things, such as the type of disease that is widely encountered in the community, the number and burden of services that must be handled, the availability of health facilities, and certain ratios or standards that have been set. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of reinforcement, competence and workload on the performance of health workers at the Karang Rejo Health Center, Tarakan City. The design of this study is an observational quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. The total population was 146 respondents while the sample of 107 respondents was taken using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Based on the results of the Ordinal Regression analysis, it is known that the variables of reinforcement, competence, and workload partially have a significant influence on the performance of health workers at the Karang Rejo Health Center, Tarakan City, which is shown by the p-value of 0.016 for reinforcement, 0.007 for competence, and 0.016 for workload (p < 0.05), so that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. These findings show that the better the implementation of reinforcement provided by the leadership, the higher the level of competence that health workers have, and the more appropriate the workload management, the performance of health workers tends to increase. Thus, the performance of health workers is not only influenced by individual factors such as competence, but also by organizational factors in the form of reinforcement and workload, which together play an important role in supporting the improvement of the quality of health services at the Karang Rejo Health Center, Tarakan City.

Abstract

Adolescents face various health challenges related to mental health, anemia, and reproductive health due to rapid biological, psychological, and social changes. Limited health literacy and exposure to unverified digital information increase the risk of unhealthy behaviors. This community engagement program aimed to improve adolescents’ knowledge, awareness, and preventive behavior through integrated health education interventions. The program combined mental health education using daily mood check cards and breathing relaxation techniques, anemia screening and education, and digital-based reproductive health education (MODEKSI DIGITAL). Activities were conducted in Rejomulyo Village involving adolescents through counseling sessions, interactive discussions, screening activities, and digital learning media. Evaluation methods included observation of participation, discussions, and assessment of knowledge improvement before and after the intervention. Results indicated increased emotional awareness, improved understanding of anemia prevention and balanced nutrition, and enhanced knowledge of reproductive health and responsible digital media use. Participants demonstrated high engagement and positive responses toward the educational activities. Challenges included inconsistent participation and limited emotional literacy among some participants. The integrated community-based approach proved effective in strengthening promotive and preventive health behavior among adolescents. Continuous mentoring and sustainable health education programs are recommended to maintain long-term impact.

Abstract

Antenatal care (ANC) utilization is a key indicator of maternal health outcomes; however, coverage remains suboptimal, with many pregnant women failing to meet recommended visit standards. This study aimed to examine the influence of midwives' performance, family support, and the availability of health facilities on compliance with ANC visits among pregnant women. A quantitative, observational, cross-sectional study was conducted involving 147 pregnant women selected by simple random sampling. Data were obtained from medical records and structured questionnaires and analyzed using univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate (logistic regression) techniques. The results demonstrated that midwives' performance was significantly associated with ANC visit completeness (χ² = 228.766; p < 0.001). Similarly, family support (χ²=208.597; p<0.001) and the availability of health facilities (χ²=164.881; p<0.001) were significantly associated with ANC compliance. Multivariate analysis confirmed that these factors were significant predictors of ANC utilization. midwives' performance, family support, and the availability of health facilities all play critical roles in improving compliance with ANC visits. Strengthening healthcare provider performance, enhancing family involvement, and ensuring adequate health service infrastructure are essential strategies to increase ANC coverage and improve maternal health outcomes.

Abstract

Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is glucose intolerance that first appears or is detected during pregnancy and can lead to various complications for both the mother and the fetus. Preventing and managing GDM can be achieved through nutrition and physical activity education. This education aimed to enhance the understanding of pregnant women so that they can adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent GDM. This study employed an analytical approach with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of pregnant women visiting the obstetrics and gynecology clinic. This community service activity was conducted at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic of Kediri Regency Hospital (RSKK) using lecture-based counseling, interactive discussions, and the distribution of educational leaflets. Evaluation was done by comparing pregnant women's knowledge levels before and after counseling using a pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test. Among the 40 respondents who participated in the counseling before the education, it was found that 24 pregnant women (60%) had low knowledge levels, 12 pregnant women (30%) had moderate knowledge, and only 4 (10%) had good knowledge. After the counseling, a significant improvement was observed, with 35 pregnant women (88%) had good knowledge and five pregnant women (12%) had moderate knowledge. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a significant increase in knowledge after the educational intervention. This education program should be continuously implemented with the support of healthcare workers and adequate facilities to raise awareness and prevent the occurrence of GDM in pregnant women.

Abstract

Patient safety is a priority for healthcare services because it can lead to serious public health issues. Incident reporting is crucial for enhancing patient safety. This study aims to analyze the determinants of patient safety incident reporting compliance using the Theory of Planned Behavior. This study employed a cross-sectional design, with the population consisting of medical and nursing staff, involving 116 participants selected using a simple random sampling technique. The analysis in this study used Logistic regression analysis. The study found that health professionals reported high levels of bullying (56.9%), poor patient safety culture (75.0%), low protection motivation (53.4%), and non-compliance in reporting patient safety incidents (55.2%). Logistic regression analysis, which had the potential to comply with incident reporting, showed low bullying (aOR: 1.8; 95% CI: 0.69-4.81), good patient safety culture (aOR: 2.9; 95% CI: 0.93-9.25), and high protection motivation (aOR: 1.91; 95% CI: 0.86-4.25). The importance of analyzing the factors that influence compliance in reporting patient safety incidents is based on the theory of planned behavior, which suggests that low workplace bullying, a good patient safety culture, and high protection motivation are the primary determinants of compliance in reporting patient safety incidents.
