Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model on summary writing skills among fifth grade students at UPTD SDN124405 Pematangsiantar. The population in this study includes all fifth-grade students, while the sample consisted of 23 students selected using proportional random sampling. This research employs a quantitative approach and falls under the category of pre-experimental research, using a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The researcher used an instrument consisting of 6 essay questions. This instrument was used to assess the influence of the problem-based learning model on students’ summary writing skills in Indonesian language learning. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. After data collection, the analysis was conducted using Aiken's V Index and the N-Gain Test. The results of the N-Gain test showed that the average pretest score in the experimental class was 37.67, and the average posttest score was 85.53, resulting in a gain of 0.78. This indicates that the experimental class experienced a significant improvement in creative thinking skills, falling into the “very high” category (g ≥ 0.7). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model has a positive effect on the summary writing skills of fifth-grade students at UPTD SDN 124405 Pematangsiantar in the 2023/2024 academic year

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of social interaction and independence in children with autism at Permata Diakoni. The focus of the study was on one subject, identified as MS, who experienced difficulties in communication, social interaction, and self-development skills. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña using NVivo version 15. Data validity was tested through source triangulation and time triangulation. The results showed that the development of the subject's social interaction began to be evident through increased responsiveness to calls, eye contact, and the ability to follow simple instructions. In terms of independence, the subject showed progress in self-feeding, following daily routines, and completing simple tasks with minimal direction. However, the subject still experienced difficulties in spontaneous social initiative, emotional regulation, and several self-development skills that required assistance. Supporting factors for development included a structured learning environment, consistent teacher guidance, and repeated positive reinforcement. It was concluded that a supportive and structured educational environment plays a crucial role in gradually improving the social interaction and independence of children with autism.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the scientific creativity of sixth-grade students at Marihat Huluan Elementary School 091283 on the water cycle through the application of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. This study used a pre-experimental method with a sample of 19 students. The research instrument was a scientific creativity test covering aspects of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results showed that the implementation of the PjBL model significantly improved students' scientific creativity. The average student score increased from 63.00, categorized as "Quite Creative" in the pre-test, to 80.31, categorized as "Creative" in the post-test. Furthermore, at the final stage of the study, no more students were found in the "Less Creative" category, and 31.5% of students achieved the "Very Creative" category. This increase in scientific creativity was influenced by project activities that encouraged students to actively explore, collaborate, think creatively, and solve problems independently. Thus, the Project-Based Learning model has proven effective in improving elementary school students' scientific creativity on the water cycle.
