Abstract

Technological developments are increasing every day. Most human activities do not escape the use of electrical energy. The increase in world fuel oil and its scarcity has led to many new innovations, one of which is the use of renewable energy. The most widely used renewable energy is solar, wind, and hydro energy. In order to support the effectiveness of the generator, a charger controller is needed to maintain battery performance. In this accumulator, the maximum voltage required to charge is 14.4 Volts. The problem that arises is how the voltage generated from the generator does not match the voltage required in the battery charging process. From this problem, a charger controller with a buck converter circuit with the PI method was made to stabilize the output voltage for charging. The aim o this study is to make a battery charger that can stabilize the level voltage of the battery charger. From the research, it was found that the efficiency value of the charger controller is 83-95%, and the average error percentage is 1.373%. For this reason, it can be concluded that the charge controller has good performance in terms of efficiency and percentage of output voltage error. The charger controller is expected to maintain battery performance and the lifetime of the battery

Abstract

Electrical energy has become a primary need in society, including in education. This is related to the number of electrical equipment used to support teaching and learning activities. However, this is not directly proportional to the students' awareness of the importance of saving energy. From this, the authors create a management system for electric power, which aims to save electricity consumption by limiting the use of electrical loads. In this system, the method used is a decision tree; the goal is to limit and set priorities for electrical loads. When three classes are ON simultaneously, there will be a reduction in the electrical load. There is a website for monitoring and changing the automatic or manual mode in this system. The manual mode is used to control the electrical load according to the status entered on the website. While the automatic mode regulates the use of electrical loads by controlling the ON or OFF conditions using a schedule that has been made, the website also monitors current, voltage, power, energy, and usage costs. The system has been tested with automatic and manual modes for monitoring data on the website. It has data updates every 10 minutes. The system has also been tested by scheduling using a decision tree and compared with scheduling without using a decision tree. From the test results for a day, it can be concluded that the system created is able to save electricity consumption. This is reinforced by a decrease in energy use of 1,17 kWh and a cost of Rp. 1.116

Abstract

Minyak dari sisa penggorengan atau disebut minyak jelantah merupakan salah satu limbah rumah tangga yang sering dibuang secara sembarangan, hal ini berpotensi mencemari lingkungan apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik. Berdasarkan data Publikasi Indonesia Oilseeds and Products Annual 2019, konsumsi minyak goreng rumah tangga Indonesia mencapai 16,2 miliar liter atau setara dengan 13 juta ton. Data Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia menghasilkan lebih dari 3 juta ton limbah minyak goreng per tahun, yang sebagian besar dibuang sembarangan sehingga mencemari tanah dan perairan. Di sisi lain, minyak jelantah memiliki potensi untuk diolah menjadi produk bernilai ekonomi, seperti lilin Beraroma Relaksasi. Inovasi pemanfaatan minyak berlebih dan tersisa (MELISA) menjadi lilin Beraroma Relaksasi tidak hanya memberikan solusi pengelolaan limbah ramah lingkungan, tetapi juga membuka peluang ekonomi kreatif bagi masyarakat. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dalam mengelola limbah sisa minyak menjadi lilin Beraroma Relaksasi, sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan sekaligus mengurangi dampak negatif dari limbah minyak tersebut. Sasaran pelatihan ini merupakan ibu-ibu dharma wanita di SMK Negeri 3 Buduran Sidoarjo. Adapun metode pelatihan ini meliputi ceramah, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan pemahaman dan kemampuan dalam proses pembuatan lilin Beraroma Relaksasi berbasis minyak jelantah. Produk yang dihasilkan sudah sama dengan produk lilin dipasaran, hal ini menunjukan potensi untuk dikembangkan secara komersial cukup layak dan masyarakat muncul kesadaran terhadap pengelolaan limbah berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Rapid technological advances have had a significant impact in various fields, including occupational safety and health (OSH). In industrial operations, electric motors play an important role in supporting work efficiency and safety. This study aims to analyze the performance of DC motors C23-L54 Series using Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Linear Quadratic Tracker (LQT) controllers to improve operational efficiency and safety in K3-based systems. Modeling is carried out using a state-space approach, which allows for complex analysis of the input-output relationship of the control system. The simulation was conducted through MATLAB Simulink R2018a with a voltage input of 0.5 V. Initial simulation results show that the unmanned system experiences large oscillations and instability, which has the potential to increase the risk of operational failure and harm to workers. To solve this problem, LQR and LQT controllers are designed to stabilize the system and eliminate oscillations, both in no-noise and noisy conditions. The test was carried out on the mathematical model of order 1 and order 2 using step signals with setpoint values of 0.848 and 0.01905. The results show that the designed controller is able to significantly improve the stability of the system, thereby reducing the risk of device damage and potential work accidents. These findings make a significant contribution to the integration of advanced control technologies to support occupational safety in industrial environments. This research is expected to be a reference in the development of safe and efficient electric motor-based systems.

Abstract

This simulation represents a critical step in studying the waveform characteristics of the DC motor C42-L50 using a control system circuit with Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Linear Quadratic Tracking (LQT). Prior to initiating the simulation and data collection, a mathematical model was formulated using the datasheet of the DC motor C42-L50. Based on this model, further analysis was conducted, followed by simulations using MATLAB Simulink to explore and evaluate the differences between LQR and LQT in terms of the waveform or graphical characteristics of the DC motor. The analysis involved observing the simulation scope in MATLAB Simulink and experimenting with noise introduced into the system circuit. To align this study with community empowerment objectives, the findings aim to enhance the reliability and efficiency of DC motor applications in community service projects. For instance, the improved motor control facilitated by LQR and LQT methodologies can support the development of renewable energy solutions, agricultural automation systems, or other local technological advancements. This approach underscores the practical benefits of integrating advanced control systems into projects that promote sustainable community development.

Abstract

Direct current (DC) motors are among the most commonly utilized electric motors in various industries due to their robust and reliable regulatory characteristics. These motors also hold significant potential for application in community-based programs, particularly in renewable energy and small-scale mechanization projects that aim to empower underprivileged communities. To effectively analyze a DC motor system, it is essential to mathematically model its operational variables. This mathematical model is expressed as a transfer function, which is integrated into the simulation process using the Matlab Simulink platform. Typically, first- and second-order equations are used to represent these transfer functions. The optimization process involves the state-space representation to determine the K gain value, which is critical for achieving precise control. The Q value, derived from the multiplication of the C transpose and C matrix, directly influences the system's step response speed, while the R value is predetermined at 0.000001. Adjusting these parameters enables an optimized balance between response speed and system stability. This research provides a foundational framework for leveraging DC motor optimization in real-world applications, particularly in community empowerment programs. By enabling more efficient control mechanisms, this study contributes to the development of affordable and sustainable energy solutions, such as small-scale irrigation systems, local production facilities, or microgrid systems in remote areas.

Abstract

Technological advancements continue to shape and enhance various aspects of human life, including efforts to address energy challenges in underserved communities. In the context of community empowerment, the integration of efficient and sustainable energy solutions has become critical. This study explores the application of Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) in optimizing the performance of three-phase induction motors for community-based energy systems. Using MATLAB and SIMULINK r2018a, the research develops a control model aimed at improving motor efficiency and stability, particularly in settings with limited technical resources.The research adopts state-space modeling as the analytical framework for complex control systems, allowing precise predictions of system behavior by considering internal dynamics. Initial simulations revealed that, without effective controllers, the system exhibited significant oscillations and instability when subjected to an input voltage of 0.5 V. This highlights the necessity of advanced controllers such as LQR to stabilize motor performance. Step signal testing with setpoints of 0.848 (Order 1) and 0.01905 (Order 2) demonstrates the controllers' effectiveness in achieving system stability and operational efficiency. The study underscores the potential of these technologies to empower communities by enhancing the reliability of small-scale energy systems, fostering economic opportunities, and supporting sustainable development. The findings provide a blueprint for deploying scalable energy solutions tailored to the unique needs of rural and underserved areas.

Abstract

In the field of education, particularly in marine electrical engineering, knowledge of single-phase capacitor motors is essential. To equip students with a solid understanding of the principles and operation of single-phase capacitor AC motors, appropriate infrastructure and learning tools, such as trainer kits, are required. A trainer kit functions as a basic educational tool that enhances comprehension of single-phase capacitor induction motors, which is crucial for students studying specialized courses in electrical motors. This tool enables various practical experiments, such as measuring the insulation resistance of motor windings, reversing the motor's rotation, testing the starting process of capacitor motors, and analyzing the power factor of capacitor motors. Additionally, a single-phase induction motor with a capacitor start can be used as a split-phase motor. The starting current in a split-phase motor is higher compared to a capacitor-start induction motor because the capacitor increases the starting power, resulting in a smaller current compared to the split-phase motor.

Abstract

Induction motors, which operate continuously, such as those used in power plant cooling systems, are at risk of failure that can result in significant losses, such as power outages when the turbine halts due to overheating. Therefore, it is crucial to have a system that monitors the temperature of the induction motor to detect potential overheating and facilitate maintenance. This study aims to design and test a temperature monitoring system for induction motors using thermocouple sensors connected to an LCD display. The methodology begins by identifying issues related to motors running non-stop, followed by a review of relevant literature and system design. Once the system was built, testing was conducted by heating the probe and measuring the temperature with a thermometer to compare the readings with those from the thermocouple sensor. The test results showed that the system accurately displayed the temperature on the LCD, with an error margin that was calculated to evaluate the sensor's accuracy. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the temperature monitoring system functions well and can be used as a reliable overheat detection system for induction motors. This system is expected to simplify maintenance processes and reduce the risk of motor damage caused by overheating. Additionally, the integration of this technology in community-based power plant initiatives could enhance the sustainability and safety of rural energy projects, ensuring a more reliable power supply for community empowerment programs.

Abstract

Self-managed project through of KOTAKU (Kota Tanpa Kumuh) program managed by Lembaga Keswadayaan Masyarakat Abdi Karya Amanah Kalianyar - Bangil Village received around 1 billion funds from Direktorat Jenderal Cipta Karya Kementrian Pekerjaan Umum Dan Perumahan Rakyat. The implementation of self-managed projects is carried out entirely by the community with less knowledge regarding building construction. The research objective is to identify and analyze time risks in implementing community self-managed projects. The data analysis method used is literature study, observation, average analysis, risk analysis and risk matrix preparation. The results of the analysis show that there are 20 risk variables with the highest ranking being low labor productivity where the measurement scale is likely to occur >60–80% and the risk impact on time is >7-30 days from the duration of the project, then the risk response decision "Avoidance" risk must be avoided.
