Abstract

Listrik merupakan sumber energi vital guna mendukung kegiatan masyarakat, dan pembangkit listrik tenaga surya menjadi topik hangat akhir-akhir ini. PLTS (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya) berbasis limbah menjadi bahasan menarik. Namun masalah perawatan dan perbaikan pada instalasi PLTS (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya) berbasis limbah menemui kendala karena terbatasnya ilmu dan pengetahuan Mitra sehingga Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Teknik Mesin UPGRIS Semarang menawarkan solusi berupa kegiatan workshop dan pelatihan secara langsung guna meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan Mitra. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di Wilayah RT 6, RW 3, Kelurahan Bergaslor, Kabupaten Semarang dengan urutan kegiatan berupa workshop dan pelatihan langsung dengan tujuan mengatasi masalah yang dikeluhkan oleh mitra. Hasilnya workshop perawatan dan perbaikan PLTS (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya) berbasis limbah terbukti memberikan manfaat untuk Mitra dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang ditunjukkan dengan semua peserta (7 orang) terbukti dapat melaksanakan keguatan dengan baik. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan Mitra dan Masyarakat sekitar dalam mengatasi kerusakan instalasi PLTS (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya) berbasis limbah dengan baik. Hasil tersebut mengkonfirmasi bahwa workshop perawatan dan perbaikan PLTS (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya) berbasis limbah memberikan dampak positif dan berpotensi dapat diaplikasikan secara luas di lapangan.

Abstract

Abstract   Electricity is a source of energy necessary to support various kinds of human activities, one of which is solar power plants. Solar power plants are power plants that convert solar energy into electrical energy. Solar power plants are classified as renewable energy. Solar power plants using household waste are a special attraction, but many people still cannot make maximum use of them due to limited knowledge and knowledge. So there is a need for education on using and empowering household waste to create designs for solar energy for street lighting applications. Through the Community Service program, activities are carried out in the Krajan RT 06, RW 03, Bergaslor Village, Bergas District, Semarang Regency. Community Service activities are carried out through stages of education, training, and direct design practice to resolve problems complained by partners. The household waste-based solar panel prototype consists of a 5 mm thick iron plate as a solar panel holder, a 5 x 5 cm hollow piece as a pole, and acrylic. Solar panel 1.2 x 1 m. Used VCD cassettes are used to wind up copper wire with a diameter of 1.5 mm, and acrylic waste for solar panel modules. The result of this activity is a solar panel prototype made by utilizing household waste with a solar panel capacity of 120 Watts. These results confirm that solar panels made from waste materials can support street lighting in the Krajan RT 06, RW 03, Bergaslor Village, Bergas District, Semarang Regency.

Abstract

Fin and tube heat exchanger (FTHE) banyak digunakan dalam sistem pendingin, petrokimia, dan aplikasi HVAC&R karena pembuatannya lebih mudah, konstruksinya sederhana, rendah biaya, dan relatif mudah dalam perawatan menjadikannya salah satu yang paling umum digunakan. Peningkatan kebaikan perpindahan panas pada FTHE telah banyak di investigasi guna untuk meningkatkan performanya. Riset ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi rasio arah longitudinal dan transversal pitch pada FTHE terhadap performa termalnya dengan menggunakan aplikasi Fluent pada program komputer Computational Fluid Dynamics. 2 variasi desain FTHE berupa rasio arah longitudinal dan arah transversal pitch di berbagai variasi kecepatan aliran fluida dengan heat flux konstan sebesar 100 W diusulkan. Hasil terbaik riset ini di dapatkan bahwa variasi rasio arah longitudinal pitch 14,5 mm dengan nilai koefisien perpindahan panas sebesar 97,24 W/m²K, sedangkan rasio arah transversal pitch 11,7 mm dengan nilai koefisien perpindahan panas sebesar 107,82 W/m²K. Hasil tersebut mengkonfirmasi bahwa variasi rasio arah longitudinal pitch 14,5 mm dan transversal pitch 11,7 mm dapat digunakan dan diterapkan untuk aplikasi praktis pada FTHE. Desain tersebut juga memungkinkan dapat dijadikan rekomendasi untuk perancangan dan diterapkan secara langsung di lapangan.

Abstract

Penggunaan energi fosil secara berlebihan menyebabkan berkurangnya sumber daya energi, memicu pemanasan global, efek rumah kaca, dan polusi udara. Oleh karena itu, energi terbarukan menjadi solusi yang penting untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Salah satu pendekatan yang menarik untuk dikembangkan adalah pemanfaatan energi air dengan head yang sangat rendah, seperti di sungai atau saluran irigasi, menggunakan turbin reaksi vortex ultra-low head. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa turbin reaksi vortex ultra-low head melalui optimasi desain basin dengan menggunakan Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Penelitian dilakukan dengan memvariasikan dimensi inlet dan outlet basin. Variasi yang digunakan adalah ukuran inlet 180 mm, 200 mm, dan 220 mm serta outlet 120 mm, 130 mm, dan 140 mm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa turbin reaksi vortex ultra-low head dengan konfigurasi basin 220-120 mm memberikan performa terbaik pada debit 8,312 L/s, gaya (force) sebesar 74,149 N, turbulensi 6,673 m/s², dan kecepatan aliran 35,100 m/s. Geometri turbin reaksi vortex ultra-low head dengan basin 220-120 mm menjadi desain yang paling ideal dalam penelitian ini. Desain tersebut dapat dijadikan acuan dalam perancangan turbin reaksi vortex ultra-low head dan memungkinkan untuk diterapkan secara langsung di lapangan secara praktis.

Abstract

The heat load on computer chips during computing performance is the main topic, so a cooling device is needed. Heat sink is one of the tools commonly applied to reduce the heat load during computing performance of computer systems. Various heat sink configurations have been widely developed and studied to obtain designs with the best thermal performance. This research was conducted to investigate the best design on a straight fin heat sink (SFHS) that has the best thermal and hydraulic performance. SFHS with fin thickness variations of 1 mm, 2 mm, and 3 mm are proposed in this study. The numerical method was carried out using the Computational Flui Dynamics program by considering fluid flow velocities of 4 m/s, 6 m/s, 8 m/s and 10 m/s. The numerical results show that the cooling rate of SFHS can be increased by using SFHS with a thickness of 3 mm and a fluid flow velocity of 10 m/s with a maximum Nusselt number value of 59.74. Therefore, it is concluded that the SFHS has prospects for further study and can be applied practically in the field for micro electronic components and computer systems. Abstract

This research is to analyze the efficiency of the heat exchanger with the addition of fins in each tube. In order to see the efficiency of heat exchangers, this research was carried out through heat exchanger machine tests along with the collection of calculation data in the form of equations. This heat exchanger is in the form of shell and tube, which in the shell has eight passes, each pass has eight tubes and each tube has an additional number of fins, two, four and six. The flow of fluids used in heat exchanger research is through cross flow, where the flow of cold fluid will be channeled through a tube inside the shell that is blown by the blower where the speed is regulated to get a different mass rate, there will also be a heat transfer of cold fluid from the hot fluid distributed in the shell. Through the LPG combustion stage, hot fluid is produced for hot fluid. The cold fluid passing through the tube will receive heat from the hot fluid to the rotary dryer. After data calculation, heat exchangers were obtained with 2 fins per tube for an efficiency output of 57.9%, heat exchangers with 4 fins per tube with an output of 58.5%, heat exchangers with 6 fins per tube with an output of 61.4%.

Abstract

Cavitation is a major issue in centrifugal pumps because it impacts their performance and efficiency. Experimental research was conducted to investigate the effect of the number of impeller blades and mass flow rate on the cavitation phenomenon in centrifugal pumps, as well as to characterize them. The Ebara brand centrifugal pump type 65x50 FSS4JA used in the TCU installation of the Casting Machine has a number of blades of 4 and 6 with a fixed inclination angle of 60° as the object of research. The fluid mass flow rate varies with values ​​of 1.67 kg/s, 3.33 kg/s, 5.67 kg/s, and 7.33 kg/s. The research findings show that the highest cavitation occurs in the centrifugal pump with 4 blades, with an NPSH value reaching 2.02 at a mass flow rate of 5.67 kg/s, while the lowest value is found in the pump with 6 blades with an NPSH of 1.88 at a mass flow rate of 7.33 kg/s. A 6-blade centrifugal pump operating at a mass flow rate of 7.33 kg/s demonstrated the best results in this study and is feasible for field application. Abstract

The fin and tube heat exchanger (FTHE) has attracted attention among technicians and researchers because of its performance. This research was conducted to determine the effect of variations in the number of grids and viscous models on FTHE on its thermal performance using the Fluent application in the Computational Fluid Dynamics computer program, which was varied against the number of grids and viscous models in various variations of fluid flow speed with a constant heat flux of 100 W. The best results of this research were obtained with the variation of the longitudinal pitch ratio of 14.5 mm with a heat transfer coefficient value of 97.24 W/m2K, while the ratio of the transverse pitch direction of 11.7 mm with a heat transfer coefficient value of 107.82 W/m2K. The best results of this research were obtained at variations in the number of grids of 358456 in variations of the viscous k-w Standard model with an average FTHE temperature value of 21.35 oC and a maximum heat transfer coefficient value of 101.74 W/m2K. These results confirm that the variation of the number of grids of 358456 in the variation of the viscous k-w Standard model allows the numerical study model to be recommended and used for practical applications on machine devices, and can be applied directly in the field.
