Abstract

Academic stress and mental health issues among students are crucial issues that affect academic performance and overall psychological well-being. This study aims to analyze the role of student-centered classroom management strategies in managing academic stress and improving students' mental health. Using a literature review method, this study analyzes various theoretical and empirical sources related to stress factors, psychological impacts, and interventions in classroom management. The study shows that the use of an authoritarian approach and external pressure actually worsens students' mental health. On the other hand, a student-centered classroom management approach that focuses on autonomy, emotional support, and cooperative interaction has been proven effective in reducing stress levels. The use of practical techniques such as mindfulness and the development of adaptive coping strategies in the classroom are recommended as preventive and curative measures for educators to build a healthy and supportive learning environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the demand for effective classroom management in the context of heterogeneous classes involving children with special needs (ABK) in regular elementary schools, while teachers still face various limitations in its implementation. This study aims to describe the role of facilitator teachers in inclusive classroom management, identify the challenges faced by teachers, and explain the efforts made to overcome these challenges at SD Negeri 138/X Rantau Rasau. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type and a phenomenological approach. The research subjects consisted of five class teachers and one principal who were selected purposively based on their direct involvement in learning involving ABK. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation to obtain comprehensive data. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the role of teachers as facilitators is reflected in non-discriminatory learning interactions, adaptive classroom environment arrangement, flexible management of learning flows, and adjustments to learning strategies according to student needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and explain the effect of teachers’ pedagogical competence on students’ communication skills and performance at SMK Negeri 1 Jambi City. The study was motivated by the importance of communication skills and student performance as essential non-technical competencies required in the workplace, particularly in vocational education. However, students’ communication skills and performance are still not optimal, highlighting the need for effective pedagogical competence among teachers. This study employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory research method. The population consisted of 1,846 students, and a sample of 187 respondents was selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that teachers’ pedagogical competence has a positive and significant effect on students’ communication skills (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; T-statistic = 12.430 > 1.96) and student performance (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05; T-statistic = 6.483 > 1.96). Teachers’ pedagogical competence also contributes to communication skills (R² = 0.509) and student performance (R² = 0.338). These findings emphasize that improving teachers’ pedagogical competence plays an important role in enhancing students’ communication skills, performance, and readiness to enter the workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the principal's strategy in managing learning time in the full-day school program at SMA Negeri 8 Muaro Jambi. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study research type. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. Research informants consisted of the principal, vice principal for curriculum, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that the principal's strategy in managing learning time is carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and monitoring/evaluation. In the planning stage, the preparation of learning duration refers to government regulations and student conditions. Subject placement is based on student concentration levels from morning to afternoon. The balance of academic and non-academic activities is through clear coordination and division of tasks. In the implementation stage, learning activities are carried out according to the established schedule, taking into account the effectiveness of the schedule and student involvement. In the monitoring/evaluation stage, the school holds a meeting to assess the implementation of the schedule and make improvements to any obstacles found. The novelty of this study lies in the focus of the study on the principal's strategy in managing learning time in the full-day school program at SMA Negeri 8 Muaro Jambi.
