Abstract

This research aimed to develop digital flipbook teaching materials based on the local history of the Gunung Sahilan Kingdom to increase students’ interest in learning history. The study was motivated by the lack of engaging teaching media in history classes, especially at SMAN 2 Tambang, where students were observed to be less interested in conventional materials such as textbooks and PowerPoint slides. Utilizing the ADDIE development model, Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation the research followed a structured and systematic process. In the analysis phase, the needs and challenges in history learning were identified through interviews and classroom observations. The flipbook content was designed according to curriculum standards and incorporated local historical sources, images, and videos. The product was validated by experts and tested in small (10 students) and large groups (30 students). Results showed that the media was highly feasible, with expert validation scores of 96% and 98%, and student response scores of 91% and 94%. Furthermore, students’ interest in learning history significantly increased, from 44% to 88% in the small group and from 47% to 89% in the large group after using the digital flipbook. This study concludes that digital flipbooks based on local history are an effective and innovative teaching medium that supports contextual, engaging, and technology-integrated learning in history education

Abstract

This research aims to examine the development of the Makan Sirih Dance in shaping and representing the cultural identity of the Malay community in Pekanbaru City. This dance was first created by O.K. Nizami Jamil at the beginning of the formation of Riau Province as a performance to welcome honored guests in official state events. Over time, the Makan Sirih Dance has undergone a shift in function, from being formal to becoming part of the customary procession in Malay weddings. This study uses historical research methods consisting of four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data sources are obtained through literature studies, archives, documentation, and interviews. The research results show that the Makan Sirih Dance has developed not only as a form of performing art but also as a symbol of respect, acceptance, and the identity of the Malay community in Pekanbaru. Its existence until 2009 reflects the strong efforts to preserve culture amidst the ongoing social dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a needs analysis for developing a Muara Takus Temple model based on the Green History approach as an innovative medium for history learning. The research employed a qualitative descriptive design with a case study approach conducted at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru. Participants consisted of 1 history teacher and 32 eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation analysis, and were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. The findings reveal three main results. First, existing history learning practices are still dominated by lecture-based methods with limited use of interactive media, resulting in low student engagement and superficial understanding of local historical content. Second, both teachers and students expressed a strong need for visual, contextual, and environmentally oriented learning media, particularly for complex historical topics such as Muara Takus Temple. Third, the proposed model made from recycled materials has the potential to enhance students’ conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and environmental awareness, although challenges related to technical production and teacher readiness remain significant. This study concludes that the development of a Green History–based temple model is pedagogically relevant and urgently needed, as it integrates historical understanding with sustainability values. The study recommends systematic development, teacher training, and institutional support to ensure effective and sustainable implementation in history learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning media based on historical calendars to determine the feasibility of learning media based on historical calendars obtained from the perceptions of Class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Pekanbaru, to determine the increase in historical motivation of Class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Pekanbaru by using historical calendar learning media. The method used in this study is the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model. The validation results by media experts obtained 90% with a very feasible category, material experts obtained 82% with a very feasible category. From the results of the student motivation questionnaire after using the historical calendar media, 83.94% were obtained in the very feasible category and a positive response to the historical calendar learning media by obtaining 96% with a very feasible category. It can be concluded that the historical calendar media learning media can increase the motivation to learn history of class XI students of SMK Negeri 2 Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This study discusses the Economic Development of the Transmigration Community in Mukti Sari Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency (1988 - 2023). The purpose of this study is to determine the early history of arrival, Economic Improvement, the impact of the Independent Energy Village program on the economy and the Transmigration Community of Mukti Sari Village. This study uses a historical approach that includes the stages of heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. This research was conducted in Mukti Sari Village, Tapung District, Riau Province. This study shows that the entry of people who participated in the transmigration program in Mukti Sari Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency took place in 1988 when it was the New Order period which was included in Repelita IV. This is based on information provided by the first transmigration community who occupied the Mukti Sari village area which was still included in (UPT). Mukti Sari village is the oldest village, because in the village it was the first village to become a placement area for Transmigrants in 1988 and was the first transmigration unit. The current population of Mukti Sari village is approximately 5,000 people.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of the Karya Salemba Empat (KSE) Scholarship in developing the personal and social development of its recipients. Not only that, this scholarship also encourages students to play an active role in the campus environment and society. Data for this study was obtained through a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the Karya Salemba Empat Scholarship plays an important role in providing financial assistance to students, thereby increasing their motivation and academic achievement during their studies. In addition, the implementation of this programme can increase the interest and talent, confidence, experience, time management, and optimistic drive for success of scholarship recipients, especially at the University of Riau. Furthermore, the Karya Salemba Empat Scholarship also aims to enable scholarship recipients to contribute to society through community development, which is in line with the third principle of the tri dharma of higher education, namely community service. Thus, the Karya Salemba Empat Scholarship not only provides economic assistance but also serves as an important facilitator in the process of student self-development and social development.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital comic media based on the local history of the War of Sosoh that can be used in learning the history of military aggression II material in class XII of SMAN Mandau. The research method used is the Research and Development (RnD) ADDIE model which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the study show the following: The product was tested for feasibility from the material validation test and received a score of 92.3%. The media validation test received a score of 85.7% with each receiving a very feasible category. After the validation process, the media was tested on students in two stages to see the students' responses. The small group trial received a score of 90.4% and the large group trial received a score of 91.2% with each receiving a response category of "Very Good". This shows that the digital comic media based on the local history of the War of Sosoh is very suitable for use as an alternative media in the history learning process in schools.

Abstract

This research focuses on the development of map media as a learning medium for the history of the entry of Islam into the archipelago by using maps as objects aimed at developing local history in Pekanbaru. The research also aims to determine the feasibility and implementation of tools in education that can be used by class X students at SMA 1 MUHAMADIYAH Pekanbaru. This research uses the method (research and development, implementation and evaluation). Data collection includes observation, documentation, and questionnaires involving material experts and media experts, as well as student responses. Students show increased interest and understanding of local historical locations through media development supported by barcode scanning on maps, media validation results ensure the suitability of the media and student responses that show a positive impact on learning motivation. This study concludes that using media and varying it in the world of education, especially history learning, makes learning to understand history easier and fosters a deeper appreciation of cultural heritage.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar E-LKPD berbasis Liveworksheet pada pembelajaran sejarah materi Kolonialisme dan Imperialisme guna untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar pada siswa di SMA PGRI Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa pada pembelajaran sejarah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D) dan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analyze, Desigen, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). Hasil validasi menunjukkan hasil yang tinggi, dengan hasil validasi ahli materi sebesar 96% dengan kategori “Sangat Valid", sedangkan validasi ahli media sebesar 76% dengan kategori “Valid”. Hasil respon siswa pada kelompok kecil dengan uji coba 10 orang siswa memperoleh 88%, dan uji coba pada kelompok besar dengan 27 orang siswa mendapat 87%, hasil ini dikategorikan “Sangat Valid”. Selain itu, efektivitas penggunaan E-LKPD dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa terdapat peningkatan persentase pada kelompok kecil yaitu 68% menjadi 86%, pada kelompok besar 65% menjadi 85%. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa E-LKPD berbasis Liveworksheet ini valid, layak dan efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa pada pembelajaran sejarah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengevaluasi media pembelajaran Explosion History Box untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar sejarah siswa di sekolah menengah kejuruan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari tahap analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Proses pengembangan diawali dengan mengidentifikasi permasalahan pembelajaran dalam pembelajaran sejarah, khususnya rendahnya motivasi belajar siswa yang disebabkan oleh metode pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru dan kurang nya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang interaktif serta inovatif. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa media pembelajaran Explosion History Box yang dirancang secara kreatif dan interaktif untuk membantu siswa memahami materi sejarah melalui aktivitas belajar yang menarik, kolaboratif, dan mendorong keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Media tersebut divalidasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan uji coba kelompok kecil dan kelompok besar yang melibatkan siswa kelas XI SMKN 1 Pekanbaru. Hasil validasi menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan yang tinggi, dengan ahli materi memberikan skor sebesar 96% yang dikategorikan “sangat valid”, sedangkan ahli media memperoleh skor sebesar 76% dengan kategori “layak”. Hasil respon siswa juga menunjukkan penerimaan yang sangat baik, dengan skor sebesar 83% pada uji coba kelompok kecil dan 90% pada uji kelompok besar. Selain itu, uji efektivitas menunjukkan adanya peningkatan motivasi belajar siswa setelah menggunakan media Explosion History Box, yaitu meningkat dari 63% menjadi 92% pada kelompok kecil dan dari 64% menjadi 87% pada kelompok besar. Secara keseluruhan temuan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa media pembelajaran Explosion History Box valid, layak, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar sejarah siswa. Media ini memberikan pengalaman belajar yang interaktif dan menyenangkan, mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa, serta menawarkan alternatif pembelajaran yang inovatif dalam pengajaran sejarah pada konteks pendidikan kejuruan.
