Abstract

This research began with the limited speaking ability of students when presenting explanatory texts in grade V of SDN 18 Air Tawar Selatan. This occurs because the learning process tends to focus on educators, and the lack of students' abilities in speaking aspects, as well as low fluency and confidence when expressing opinions. The purpose of this study is to explain how students' speaking skills improve using the Time Token Arends model. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research activities were carried out in two cycle which included planning, action, observation, and review. The research information collection technique was carried out through tests and non-tests. Participants in this study were 19 grade V students of SDN 18 Air Tawar Selatan. The study findings showed positive developments in every aspect of learning. The assessment of the In-Depth Learning Implementation Plan (RPPM) increased from 91,06% (SB) in the first cycle to 96,42% (SB) in the second cycle. Teacher and student activity also improved, from 85,93% (B) to 96,87% (SB). Students' speaking skills improved from 72,47 (C) in the first cycle to 87,27 (B) in the second cycle. There were improvements in pronunciation, grammar, vocalization, fluency, comprehension, and speaking confidence. Therefore, the Arends Time Token Learning Model has been proven to help students improve their speaking skills, especially when presenting explanatory texts

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low fluency reading skills of second-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Piai, Padang City. These problems are indicated by: 1) low student interest in reading, 2) less varied teacher learning models, 3) many students still read by spelling and still stutter, 4) limited student vocabulary, 5) lack of accuracy of punctuation and intonation in reading, 6) reading activities tend to be done through shared reading activities, 7) lack of student motivation in learning to read. The purpose of this study is to describe the improvement in students' fluency reading skills using the Make a Match type cooperative learning model in second-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Piai, Padang City. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The subjects of the study were teachers and 24 second-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Piai, Padang City. The results showed an increase in students' fluency reading skills. The average value of fluent reading skills increased from 72.08 with a completion percentage of 37.50% in cycle I meeting 1 to 77.08 with a completion percentage of 58.33% in cycle I meeting 2, and increased again to 83.96 with a completion percentage of 83.33% in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the Make a Match type cooperative model can improve the fluent reading skills of second grade students in Elementary School.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve narrative text writing skills among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Indarung, Padang City, through the implementation of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model. The study was motivated by the low writing achievement of students, with only 33.33% reaching the minimum learning completion criteria and a class average of 69.73, caused by unsystematic lesson planning, teacher-centered instruction, and low student motivation in writing. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects were 30 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through test and non-test techniques and analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed a consistent improvement across cycles. In Cycle I Meeting 1, the average writing score was 75.28 with 53.33% completion, increasing to 80.28 with 70% completion in Meeting 2. In Cycle II, the average score rose significantly to 88.06 with a classical completion rate of 86.67%, surpassing the predetermined success indicator of 80%. These findings indicate that the RADEC learning model is effective in improving fourth-grade students' narrative text writing skills.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students' speaking skills in Indonesian Language learning through the application of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model in class V of SD Negeri 07 Libo Jaya, Siak Regency. The background of this study was the low speaking skill of students, shown by only 26% of students reaching the minimum mastery criteria before the action was carried out. This research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection, carried out in two cycles. The subjects were 31 fifth-grade students and the classroom teacher as observer. Data were collected through performance tests and observation sheets covering the aspects of pronunciation, diction, intonation, fluency, and comprehension, then analyzed descriptively using averages and percentages of mastery. The results showed a consistent improvement across cycles: the lesson plan (RPPM) score increased from 82.1% in Cycle I Meeting 1 to 92.8% in Cycle II; teacher performance increased from 82.5% to 95%; and student performance increased from 85% to 92.5%. The average speaking-skill score rose from 73 in Cycle I Meeting 1 to 84.83 in Cycle II, with 87.10% of students reaching the mastery criterion. The most notable gains occurred in the fluency and intonation aspects. It is concluded that the Jigsaw model effectively improves elementary students' speaking skills in Indonesian Language learning.

Abstract

Proses pembelajaran di sekolah memiliki peran penting dalam menentukan keberhasilan pencapaian tujuan pendidikan.Jika guru tetap mengandalkan metode ceramah secara utama dalam menyampaikan materi, keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran cenderung rendah Situasi pembelajaran yang kurang menarik dapat menghambat konsentrasi dan fokus siswa, yang pada akhirnya berdampak pada rendahnya pemahaman terhadap materi. Dalam hal ini, penggunaan media pembelajaran menjadi sangat penting karena proses belajar mengajar merupakan bentuk komunikasi antara guru sebagai penyampai informasi dan siswa sebagai penerima. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh icebreaking dan media visual terhadap minat siswa dalam belajar Matematika di kelas IV Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah pendekatan kualitatif, menggunakan teknik wawancara dengan wali kelas sebagai subjek penelitian . Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa penggunaan icebreaking dan media visual dalam proses belajar dapat membantu meningkatkan kemampuan visual siswa serta menambah antusiasme mereka selama kegiatan pembelajaran . Dengan kata lain, temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan icebreaking dan alat visual memberikan kontribusi yang baik dalam mendukung siswa memahami materi yang sulit dijelaskan secara langsung di ruang kelas.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of learning boredom, which has shown an increasing trend in elementary school educational environments. Alongside the rapid development of information technology, various innovative approaches in digital-based learning have been extensively developed and implemented across various educational institutions. This development has opened broad opportunities for research to explore the potential solutions offered by technology to address the learning boredom problems experienced by students. To achieve this objective, the study employs a descriptive qualitative approach conducted through a systematic literature review process. Data collection techniques were carried out by utilizing various academic literature sources relevant to the research topic. A review of previous studies reveals that the utilization of digital technology in learning activities has become a significant focus of attention in the academic community. However, based on the analysis of various existing studies, it has been identified that the majority of research has been more focused on improving academic achievement and strengthening students' intrinsic motivation. Furthermore, studies specifically examining the effectiveness of digital-based science learning innovations as a strategy for reducing learning boredom among elementary school students still show considerable scarcity. Based on the research gap identified, this study was conducted to fill the academic reference void through an in-depth analysis of the effectiveness of using digital learning media in reducing the level of learning boredom among elementary school students. The results of this study are expected to provide beneficial contributions to the development of learning theory and practice in the digital era.
