Abstract

This study examines the harmonization of the concept of love with facility quality and Sapta Pesona to enhance tourist satisfaction at Kerta Gosa Tourist Attraction, Klungkung, Bali. Utilizing a quantitative approach and Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis, data from 93 tourists were assessed. The results reveal that the sense of love towards the tourist attraction significantly strengthens the positive influence of facility quality on tourist satisfaction (P-Values 0.001; original sample 0.282). In contrast, the sense of love does not significantly affect the relationship between Sapta Pesona and tourist satisfaction (P-Values 0.943). These findings indicate that, in the context of harmonization, physical facility quality combined with an emotional connection (sense of love) has a greater impact on tourist satisfaction than Sapta Pesona alone. Further research is needed to clarify how these factors can be optimally integrated to support sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

Bali's exponential tourism growth has triggered chronic traffic congestion, exacerbated by a severe imbalance between vehicle volume and road capacity in high-density areas. This study proposes and evaluates the Tourism Mobility Zoning System (TMZS) integrated with digital navigation technology as a systemic spatial solution. A mixed-method approach was employed, utilizing Simple Linear Regression on secondary macro-data (2011-2024) to empirically justify the urgency of mobility interventions, alongside thematic analysis of field observations, document studies, and in-depth interviews in Kuta, Sanur, and Ubud. The findings indicate that TMZS effectively regulates tourist flows by categorizing destinations into four functional zones: Transit-Oriented, Car-Free, Pedestrian, and Limited Transport. Furthermore, the conceptual integration of TMZS with a real-time digital application (ZonaFlow) optimizes parking management and multi-modal transit efficiency. As a theoretical novelty, this research bridges spatial zoning frameworks with digital technology, extending carrying capacity and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) theories into a novel socio-spatial model tailored for island tourism. Practically, the study urges policymakers to formally adopt TMZS into regional spatial plans, supported by targeted investments in transit hubs and strict law enforcement, thereby facilitating a sustainable transition from private vehicle reliance.

Abstract

Applying the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability) health protocol is a new practice that initially received a light rejection from the community, including when visiting tourist attractions during the pandemic Covid-19. This article aims to identify the application of CHSE, identify the effect of its application on tourist loyalty and identify local cultural interventions through the involvement of customary village security guard of ‘pecalang’ on the effect of the application of CHSE on tourist loyalty. This article used a quantitative approach, with data analysis techniques using quantitative descriptive and Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The results showed that the implementation of CHSE was carried out well, with an average rating of 4.09 (good), and had a positive and significant effect on tourist loyalty. The involvement of ‘pecalang’ certainly contributes to the implementation of CHSE in tourist attractions, but the uncontrolled involvement of ‘pecalang’ can reduce tourist loyalty.

Abstract

Warbal Village holds strategic potential as a community-based marine tourism destination, supported by its diverse marine resources and strong local community engagement, yet its development remains in an early stage. This study aims to analyze the destination life cycle position, potential, and challenges of marine tourism development in Warbal Village. A qualitative approach was employed using field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data were analyzed by integrating the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) framework, the 4A concept, and the perspectives of Community-Based Tourism, Regenerative Tourism, Marketing 5.0, and the Pentahelix model. The findings indicate that Warbal Village is at the involvement stage, with key strengths in its natural coastal attractions and authentic local culture. However, limitations in accessibility, amenities, ancillary services, tourism management institutions, and digital promotion remain major challenges. The pristine coastal environment offers opportunities for the application of regenerative tourism, suggesting that destination development should be carried out gradually, in an integrated and collaborative manner to support tourism sustainability and local community well-being.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Balinese Arak from a socio-religious ritual instrument into a premium global souvenir. Despite its cultural significance, traditional artisans face industrial dualism, including legal barriers and non-standardized packaging. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research employs case studies and in-depth interviews with traditional producers in Karangasem and Buleleng, alongside premium industrial players. This research is critically important as it addresses the widening gap between celebratory heritage policies and the economic precariousness of indigenous producers. Findings reveal that repositioning arak as a world-class souvenir is driven by branding professionalization and diplomatic recognition at the 2022 G20 Summit. However, a structural paradox is identified where Governor Regulation Number 1 of 2020 inadvertently creates economic disparities between established downstream industries and constrained upstream artisans. By highlighting this disparity, the study provides a necessary intervention in the discourse of cultural commodification, ensuring that global premiumization does not come at the cost of local artisan marginalization. Theoretically, this study enriches literature on commodifying sacred objects while maintaining authenticity. Practically, it provides a strategic roadmap for local artisans and inclusive policy recommendations to bridge the gap between micro-producers and premium tourism markets.

Abstract

This applied study analyses the implementation of transformational leadership in building employee commitment, motivation, and work participation at Cross Bali Breakers, a pool villa hotel in Balangan, Jimbaran, Bali. The article addresses a limitation in previous studies that often place transformational leadership as a direct predictor of work outcomes, but provide limited explanation of how leadership practices operate in the daily reality of a pool villa hotel. This research used a qualitative approach with an interpretive case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with I-1 to I-21, participant observation, and documentation. Data were analysed thematically through deductive coding based on the four dimensions of transformational leadership and inductive coding based on empirical patterns from the field. The findings identify six main practices: leader role modeling, communication of vision and work direction, motivation and appreciation, employee empowerment, open dialogue, and individualized attention to employee development. The novelty of this study lies in the development of the Transformational Leadership Practice Framework (TLPF). The framework explains that the six leadership practices operate through relational mechanisms, namely trust, recognition, clarity of direction, psychological safety, and workplace learning. These mechanisms strengthen employee commitment, motivation, and work participation, and then support service coordination, operational responsiveness, and service standard consistency. This study extends Burns, Bass, and Bass and Riggio by positioning transformational leadership as a contextual social-operational mechanism in hotel organizations.

Abstract

The Sanur Tourism Area, particularly Serangan Village, has significant tourism potential with its spiritual, marine, and culinary attractions. To support the development of Serangan Village it is essential to enhance the skills of the local community, especially in English language proficiency and the use of digital technology. At SD Negeri 2 Serangan, there are challenges related to the limited number of English language teachers and the students' low understanding of digital marketing. This activity aims to provide English language training and digital marketing education to students to enhance their competitiveness in the global era. The methods used include needs analysis, interviews, observations, as well as lectures and practical exercises in creating digital content. The results of this program show that digital marketing education helped students understand how to use social media to promote Serangan Village, while interactive English language training improved their language skills. Through this initiative, it is expected that the youth of Serangan Village will actively contribute to local tourism development and be better prepared for global challenges.

Abstract

Selumbung Tourism Village is one of the potential tourist destinations in Karangasem Regency, Bali, known for its rich natural resources, culture, and local traditions. However, in recent years, the village has faced several challenges, including a decline in tourist visits and a weak destination brand identity. These issues have been exacerbated by the lack of synergy in management among members of the Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS) and limited capacity in managing digital promotion. In response to these problems, a community engagement program carried out by the Tourism Management Study Program aimed to strengthen destination branding and enhance the capacity of POKDARWIS members through digital marketing training, assistance in promotional content development, and revitalization of the group's vision and mission. The implementation was conducted through a participatory approach, including observation, focus group discussions (FGDs), training sessions, and result evaluations. The outcomes of the program indicated an increased understanding among POKDARWIS members regarding the importance of branding and digital marketing strategies, the development of a new promotional narrative for the village, and the formulation of a collaborative action plan. This activity has had a positive impact by fostering a spirit of togetherness, increasing the competitiveness of the destination, and reinforcing the sustainable development direction of Selumbung Tourism Village.
