Abstract

Waqf is one of the pillars of the Islamic economic system that plays an important role in creating social welfare and empowering the community. Despite its great potential, the practice of managing waqf assets in Indonesia tends to be conventional and less productive, with limited utilization in places of worship such as mosques and madrasas. The concept of productive waqf is present as an innovative alternative that allows waqf assets to be managed more dynamically for value-added economic activities. Through this approach, waqf assets not only maintain spiritual value, but also contribute to improving the economic welfare of the community more broadly and sustainably. This study aims to examine the urgency of implementing productive waqf in optimizing waqf assets, while identifying various challenges and opportunities in its implementation. In implementing this research, a literature review method with a qualitative approach was used. The results of the study indicate that productive waqf has a large capacity in driving the economic sector of the community, as long as it is supported by a professional, transparent, and accountable management system. With proper governance, productive waqf can be a strategic instrument in the development of an inclusive and equitable Islamic economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the oil and gas industry on socio-economic inequality in the market aspect of Bojonegoro Regency from the perspective of Islamic economics. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, the research was conducted in areas surrounding oil and gas exploitation sites, employing data collection methods such as observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies. The results indicate that the oil and gas industry has transformed the local market structure into an oligopolistic system, where large-capital business actors dominate the trade and service sectors, leading to economic exclusion of micro and small enterprises. Additionally, the surge in goods and service prices has increased the cost of living without being balanced by equitable income distribution among the local community. A simple linear regression analysis shows a significant but weak relationship between the presence of the oil and gas industry and the increase in local community income (R² = 0.28). From the perspective of Islamic economics, this condition contradicts the principles of distributive justice (al- ‘adl) and public welfare (maslahah). Therefore, affirmative policies from local governments and more equitable and sustainable corporate social responsibility programs by oil and gas companies are needed to realize socio-economic balance in oil and gas-producing regions.

Abstract

This research examines how Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a role in the local economy and the impact of using plastic waste from tofu factories on Islamic business ethics in Krian-Sidoarjo District. Small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in creating jobs and driving economic growth, but unsustainable production practices, such as the use of plastic waste, present ethical challenges that need to be reviewed from an Islamic perspective. Islamic business ethics emphasize the principles of sustainability, justice, and the common good, which should guide business actors, including in waste management. This research identifies the motivations, practices, and impacts of plastic waste usage by tofu factories, as well as how this usage can be aligned with Islamic business principles. The research employs a qualitative approach. This research uses a qualitative approach. It is hoped that the research results will assist stakeholders in making plans that support the sustainability of MSMEs and meet Islamic business ethics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing strategies implemented by Madurese traditional grocery stores (Toko Klontong Madura) in order to enhance competitiveness within the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. Facing increasingly complex market competition, traditional retail businesses must develop marketing strategies that not only retain loyal customers but also attract new ones. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, using observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings reveal that personalized customer approaches, flexible pricing, friendly service, and strategic location usage are key factors in sustaining the competitiveness of Madurese grocery stores. The study concludes that appropriate and contextual marketing strategies can strengthen MSMEs amidst the rise of modern retail outlets.

Abstract

Abstract

Plastic can degrade into smaller particles ranging from 1 μm to 5 mm, known as microplastics. Due to their small size, microplastics can be easily inhaled and enter the human respiratory system. The high respiratory rate and underdeveloped immune systems of children make them more vulnerable to exposure to airborne microplastics. This study aimed to determine the characteristics and abundance of airborne microplastics in school indoor environments in urban areas of Jember Regency. The study was conducted in four schools representing different educational levels, namely kindergartens and junior high schools, selected using stratified random sampling. Sampling was carried out using a passive sampling method by placing stainless-steel boxes at a height of 1.2 m for 24 hours. Sample pre-treatment included filtration using 1.2 μm filter paper, density separation using ZnCl₂ (1.6 g/cm³), and organic matter digestion using 30% H₂O₂. Microplastic abundance and characteristics were then analyzed using microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The highest microplastic density was found in Kindergarten A, reaching 2,239 particles/m²/day, followed by Junior High School C (1,143 particles/m²/day), Junior High School D (1,109 particles/m²/day), and Kindergarten B (603 particles/m²/day). Fiber-shaped microplastics were the dominant form, followed by fragments. Black-colored particles with sizes ranging from 0.2 to 2 mm were most frequently observed, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) were identified in the sample.
