Sungai Batang Gadis merupakan sungai yang sangat penting sebagai penyedia air untuk mendukung kelangsungan hidup dan kegiatan perekonomian utama masyarakat, yaitu pertanian. Disepanjang pinggiran sungai Batang Gadis banyak ditemukan daerah pertanian masyarakat yang memanfaatkan irigasi dari aliran sungai Batang Gadis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan tingkat pencemaran pestisida di Sungai Batang Gadis Mandailing Natal. Metode : Metode survey digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan mengambil dua titik sampling yaitu Muara Mais dan Tamiang. Penentuan titik sampling menggunakan Purposive sampling method. Pengambilan sampel air, tanah dan ikan yang diambil dianalisis menggunakan Gas Kromatografi. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan residu pestisida hanya ditemukan pada stasiun II (Muara Mais). Residu pestisida yang ditemukan pada air, sedimen tanah dan ikan dari golongan organofosfat yang terdeteksi adalah diazinon, malation, dan klorfirifos sedangkan dari golongan organoklorin aldrin, dieldrin dan endosulfan. Selain residu pestisida juga ditemukan residu pupuk yaitu fosfat, amonia, nitrat, nitrit dan sulfida. Kesimpulan : Residu pestisida pada Sungai Batang Gadis yang ditemukan hannya pada titik lokasi yang ditemukan daerah pertanian disepanjang pinggiran sungai tersebut. Kadar residu pestisida dan juga residu pupuk yang ditemukan masih berada di bawah Batas Maksimal Residu (BMR) pestisida. Konsentrasi residu pestisida organofosfat tersebut yang terbesar terdapat pada tanah, lalu ikan dan terakhir air, sedangkan organoklorin terbesar pada ikan, air kemudian tanah.

Rice has become food for most of the world's population. Indonesia is the third largest producer in the world. However, in fact rice production in Indonesia has decreased by 0.43% compared to 2020. One of the factors that can cause this decline is drought. Because rice is a semi-aquatic plant that grows normally in flooded conditions, it makes drought stress very threatening. Drought stress that occurs in plants causes plants to experience oxidative stress due to excessive accumulation of ROS. PEG is a compound that is widely used to provide drought conditions in plants. Previous research has classified several varieties of rice plants based on their level of resistance to drought. However, it is not yet known how the morphological response will be in different periods of drought stress and rewatering treatment. This research was conducted by giving treatment in the form of control (Yoshida nutrient culture solution) and drought stress (Yoshida + PEG-6000 20% solution) repeated 3 times. The observed parameters were RWC which were analyzed using standard errors and morphological images of roots and leaves. The results showed that the RWC obtained during the stress period from the third to the fifth day, Harum had the highest value according to its class as tolerant rice. After rewatering Rosna has a better recovery ability. In addition, root morphology shows differences in the form of root length, small root diameter, inhibition of adventive root growth. On the leaves include a decrease in leaf area, leaf curl up, and leaf yellowing.

The Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency (BPJPH) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion requires human resources as qualified Halal Product Process Assistants (PPH) to help accelerate the halal certification process for MSE products in Indonesia. On the other hand, there are not many alumni of the Biology Department, FMIPA UNP who got jobs in less than 6 months after graduating. Therefore, the solution offered to the problems faced by partners is to conduct halal product process assistance (PPH) training for alumni of the Biology Department, FMIPA UNP so that they have the capacity and competence to assist MSE business actors in halal certification of their products through a self-declaration scheme. Community service activities consist of two main activities, namely the delivery of material about the halal certification self-declaration scheme and the practice of halal product process assistance (PPH) simulations. The competency of PPH assistants is evaluated and used as an indicator of graduation.

Glutathione Reductase (GR) belongs to the NADPH-dependent flavoprotein oxidoreductase family and is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. The GR gene is considered to play a key role in the elimination of oxidative reaction products by looking at the level of gene expression of GR rice in dealing with drought stress using qPCR. One of the important steps to develop a specific, effective and efficient qPCR is the primer design. Several studies analyzing GR gene expression in rice have also designed primers. However, the primer still lacks an ideal characteristic of primer, as it still has a secondary structure. This studies aims to design rice GR specific primers and optimize the annealing temperature for GR gene expression analysis on rice. Primers were designed using the Primer3 and Geneious Prime and checked for specificity using the Primer-BLAST tool. The selected primer pairs were then optimized for annealing temperature using gradient PCR. The best primer design results were GR-Forward 5’-ACGATTGCAGCCAGTGAAGA-3’ and GR-Reverse 5’-TGCGGCAATACTATCAACATCC-3’, with an amplicon length of 204 bp, primer base lengths of 20 and 22 nucleotides, Tm values of 60°C and 58.9°C, %GC of 50% and 45.5%, respectively. This primer pair had no secondary structure, both hairpin and self dimer. Gradient PCR showed the optimum annealing temperature for this primer pair was 52.2oC so that the primer can be used as a specific primer to analyze the GR gene expression in rice using qPCR.

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is a substance that is able to produce free radicals such as ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species), which can cause oxidative stress in the body and damage reproductive organs such as the testes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of avocado seed ethanol extract (Persea americana Mill.) on the histology of the testes of mice (Mus musculus L.) induced monosodium glutamate (MSG). This research is an experimental study that was conducted in October 2023 – January 2024 at Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Padang. The design used is a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 repeats. The data obtained were analyzed using the ANOVA test (Analysis of variance) using the SPSS 23 application. The results showed that the administration of avocado seed ethanol extract showed a noticeable effect on the diameter of the testes of male mice exposed to MSG. However, it showed no noticeable influence on testicular weight, seminiferous tubule diameter and Leydig cell count. Abstrak: Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Jahe Merah (Zingiber officinale Var. Rubrum) Dalam Meningkatkan Motilitas dan Morfologi Spermatozoa Mencit (Mus musculus L.) Infertilitas adalah kegagalan dalam meneruskan keturunan akibat tidak mampu hamil setelah satu tahun tanpa menggunakan kontrasepsi dan bersifat primer. Tanaman Jahe (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) merupakan rempah-rempah Indonesia dan menjadi tanaman obat yang kaya akan khasiat bagi kesehatan. Ekstrak jahe dikenal mengandung senyawa-senyawa aktif yang memiliki potensi untuk meningkatkan fungsi reproduksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian ekstrak jahe Merah dalam meningkatkan motilitas dan morfologi spermatozoa pada mencit jantan (Mus musculus L.). Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimental dengan desain acak lengkap. Sebanyak 15 mencit jantan dewasa dibagi secara acak menjadi tiga kelompok perlakuan. Pada kelompok pertama digunakan sebagai kontrol yang diberi air putih. Kelompok kedua dan ketiga diberikan perlakuan dengan ekstrak jahe merah dengan dosis berturut yaitu 300 mg/kg BB dan 600 mg/kg BB selama 15 hari. Perhitungan motiltas menggunakan analisis Guest sedangkan morfologi dengan mengamati spermatozoa di bawah mikroskop. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji Anova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak jahe dosis rendah dan dosis tinggi berpengaruh pada motilitas dan morfologi spermatozoa mencit. Sehingga disimpulkan pemberian ekstrak jahe merah dengan dosis 300 mg/KgBB meningkatkan motilitas dan morfologi sedangkan pada dosis 600 m/KgBB menurunkan motilitas spermatozoa mencit.

Abstrak: Pengaruh Pemberian Ektrak pare hijau (Momordica conchinchinensis) Terhadap sikl us estrus mencit betina (Mus Musculus L.). Kandungan zat aktif yang terdapat dalam buah pare yaitu triterpenoid yang berperan untuk memperbaiki sel-sel granulosa pada ovarium, dimana granulosa ovarium menghasilkan inhibidin yang menghambat sekresi hormone FSH dan LH. Pada mencit betina perubahan fisiologi terjadi secara berkala yang mempengaruhi hormon reproduksi, hal ini dapat dilihat dari siklus estrus nya Tujuan Penelitian untuk mengetahui siklus estrus mencit betina (Mus musculus) akibat pemberian ekstrak pare (Momordica charantia, L). Penelitian ini dilaksanankan pada bulan Maret sampai April tahun 2023 di laboratorium Biologi FMIPA UNP. Penelitian ini menggunakan 15 ekor mencit betina yang dibagi menjadi 3 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan yang masing-masing kelompok terdiri atas 5 mencit betina. Setiap kelompok diberi perlakuan ekstrak Pare dengan dosis 150 mg/BB, 300 mg/BB dan untuk kelompok kontrol tidak diberi ekstrak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis anova dengan RAL menggunakan uji experimental. Hasil penelitian didapatkan dengan mengamati preparat sederhana apusan vagina mencit. Pengamatan preparat menunjukkan bahwa siklus estrus tetap terjadi pada semua perlakuan. Perbedaan siklus estrus terlihat pada perlakuan P1, dimana terjadi fase diestrus, sedangkan pada P2 terjadi fase metetrus dan diestrus, dan pada kontrol terjadi fase estrus dan diestrus. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan tidak ada siklus estrus yang dominan terhadap mencit yang diberi perlakuan maupun mencit kontrol. Kesimpulan dari pengamatan yang dilakukan yaitu ekstrak pare dengan jumlah dosis 150 mg/BB 300 mg/BB tidak berpengaruh terhadap terhambatnya siklus estrus pada mencit betina.

Mung beans are a type of legume that contains many vitamins, one of which is vitamin E. Honey contains monosaccharides, namely fructose, sucrose, glucose, and maltose. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of mung bean plus honey on the quality of spermatozoa in male mice (Mus musculus). This research is a laboratory experimental study with the Based On The Reference method. The samples in this study were fifteen male mice (Mus musculus L.). Each group of male mice received different treatment, namely; the control group (P0) was given aquadest, the treatment group (P1) was given mung bean seed extract 30 mg/g BW mice plus 3 ml honey/day, and the treatment group (P2) was given mung bean seed extract 30 mg/g BW mice plus 0 .5 ml of honey). Before being treated, male mice were acclimatized for one week. Data analysis used the One Way ANOVA test and continued with the correlation test. The results showed that administration of mung bean extract plus honey had a positive effect on increasing motility of type A spermatozoa and decreasing motility of type D, as well as increasing the number of normal spermatozoa in male mice (Mus musculus L.). Giving mung bean plus honey worked optimally to improve the quality of motility and morphology of spermatozoa at a dose of 50 mg/g BB of mung bean extract + 3 ml of honey.

Wounds are damage or loss of body tissues that occur due to a factor that interferes with the body's protective system. One example of an open wound is an incision where there is a linear tear in the skin and underlying tissue. One natural ingredient that has potential as an alternative treatment for cut wounds is turmeric and VCO. The part of turmeric contains curcumin to accelerate wound healing and VCO contains lauric acid which functions as an antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the combination of turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica Val.) with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on the percentage and healing time of incision wounds in male mice (Mus musculus L.). This research is an experimental study. The research was conducted from October to December 2023 at the Animal House and Research Laboratory of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padang State University. The design used is a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 5 (five) treatments and 5 (five) repeats. The data obtained were analyzed using the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) test using the SPSS 22 application. The results showed that the combination of turmeric extract (Curcuma domestica Val.) with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) affected the percentage and time of incision wound closure in male mice (Mus musculus L.). The best combination of turmeric extract with VCO is a ratio of 2:1.

A wound is the loss or damage of part of the body's tissues. So far, standard handling of wounds on the skin carried out in the medical world is by giving antiseptics, antibiotics, and anti-inflammatory. Wound healing is a complex process so efforts to find an effective wound healing agent continue. Medical drugs that are constantly used sometimes have unwanted side effects, for that alternative drugs are needed to reduce side effects. Medicinal plants that have the potential to heal incision wounds are torch ginger umbut, binahong leaves, tampala steel stems, yellow turmeric rhizomes, ginger leaves, red ginger rhizomes, and cassava leaves. Various preparations from the plant have the potential to heal incision wounds.
