Abstract

Abstract: Rapid population growth and urbanization make solid waste management a pressing environmental and socio-economic challenge. The transition from a linear "take-use-dispose" economy to a restorative and regenerative circular economy model is imperative. This research in-depth analyzes how Community-Based Waste Management (CWBM) initiatives can contribute to achieving a circular economy, focusing on the interacting systematic dynamics. Using a Loop Dynamics approach, this study identifies and examines the complex cause-and-effect relationships and feedback loops in Padang City's waste management ecosystem. Through a quantitative survey of 100 respondents, it was found that the variables studied simultaneously had a significant influence on management success. However, no variable had a significant effect on the outcome. Loop Dynamics modeling revealed reinforcing loops (R1-R6) that drive positive cycles, such as increased revenue from recycling that stimulates participation, and balancing loops (B1-B3) that maintain system balance. These findings confirm that PSBM is not simply a mitigation strategy, but rather a strategic intervention point capable of driving a circular transition, creating local economic opportunities, and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The results of this study are expected to guide policymakers and communities in designing more innovative and adaptive waste management strategies. Keywords: Waste Management, Circular Economy, Loop Dynamics, Sustainable Development.

Abstract

Pancasila Education requires active student engagement to promote conceptual understanding, cooperation, responsibility, and academic achievement in a balanced manner. However, classroom action research simultaneously examining learning activities and outcomes through Think-Pair-Share (TPS) among fifth-grade students remains limited. This study aimed to improve students’ learning activities and outcomes in Pancasila Education through the TPS cooperative learning model. Classroom action research was conducted across two cycles involving 26 purposively selected Grade VA students at SDN 01 Ulak Karang. Data were collected through classroom observations, non-test assessments, and learning achievement tests and analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. The findings showed that students’ discussion activity increased from 45.51% in Cycle I to 78.69% in Cycle II, cooperation increased from 42.31% to 82.70%, and responsibility increased from 53.85% to 74.73%. The mean learning outcome score also increased progressively from 63.2 at the pre-action stage to 67.2 in Cycle I and 89.2 in Cycle II. These findings demonstrate that TPS can foster a more participatory and collaborative Pancasila Education classroom while improving students’ academic achievement. The study highlights the value of structured peer interaction, careful teacher facilitation, and reflective instructional improvement in implementing TPS. Further research should examine the sustainability of these improvements across broader school contexts and longer implementation periods.

Abstract

Brain fog resulting from subclinical malnutrition and the absence of a daily breakfast constitutes a major biological barrier that undermines students’ concentration and academic performance at school. This study aims to evaluate the strategic role and clinical mechanisms of the Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) Program in addressing brain fog and improving students’ cognitive function through a systematic literature review. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol to synthesize relevant and reputable scientific articles retrieved from Scopus, ScienceDirect, and PubMed and published over the past ten years. The literature analysis consistently indicates that adequate intake of essential macronutrients and micronutrients, including iron, B-complex vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids, through school-based food intervention programs can help stabilize blood glucose homeostasis, support synaptic membrane regeneration, and optimize the synthesis of key neurotransmitters in the brain. The synthesis of the reviewed literature also demonstrates a reduction in symptoms of daily mental fatigue, accompanied by improvements in working memory capacity, attention span, and logical reasoning abilities among students in classroom settings. This study concludes that the MBG Program serves not merely as a social and public health safety net but also as a critical macro-level cognitive investment for strengthening the intellectual capacity of the younger generation. The findings highlight the importance of standardizing evidence-based menus grounded in neuro-nutrition (brain food) principles to maximize academic achievement in the implementation of national nutrition policies.
