Abstract

Abstract

Teacher professional development demands not only improvements in pedagogical and academic competence but also attention to psychological well-being, particularly in the context of academic writing, which often triggers stress and anxiety. Indonesian School Jeddah (SIJ) teachers face dual challenges: professional demands and limited formal academic writing training, alongside emotional pressure when completing writing tasks. This community service activity aims to enhance teacher professionalism and well-being through the Mindfulness-Based Writing Assistance program, which integrates mindfulness practices with process-based academic writing training. The activity involved 22 teachers through three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection instruments included evaluation questionnaires, structured observations, writing document analysis, and participants' narrative reflections. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Results showed that 84% of teachers experienced a reduction in writing stress, 88% showed increased focus, and 79% felt more confident in writing scientific papers. Additionally, document analysis revealed improvements in writing quality, specifically in understanding the IMRAD structure, paragraph coherence, reference usage, and argument strength. Narrative reflections disclosed increased self-awareness, courage to write, and motivation to continue independent scientific writing. These findings indicate that a mindfulness-based approach is effective in supporting teacher professional development while improving psychological well-being. This program contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 regarding healthy lives and well-being, as well as SDGs 4 on quality education, and has the potential to be replicated in other Indonesian school contexts.

Abstract

An exploration of the local wisdom of Semarang City through the R-STEAM (Religion, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) approach shows the integration of local cultural, historical, artistic, and culinary values with the application of R-STEAM to Lawang Sewu, Semarangan batik, and Semarang spring rolls. This study enriches the understanding of science and technology while strengthening cultural awareness and local identity. Lawang Sewu, as a historical building, becomes an ideal model to study mathematics in geometry, as well as the integration of religious values and art in construction. Batik Semarangan represents the application of R-STEAM in the exploration of the art and technology of batik making, including the use of natural dyes and modern engineering techniques for innovative motifs. Finally, Semarang spring rolls within the R-STEAM framework encompass traditional food processing techniques, health and nutrition aspects, and innovative approaches in combining tradition with modern technology in the culinary industry, particularly in relation to healthy food learning. Overall, the application of R-STEAM tools in this exploration of Semarang's local wisdom provides significant opportunities to integrate cultural heritage with science, technology and arts learning. Practical implications include recommendations for educational curriculum development that integrates R-STEAM with local wisdom, as well as the formulation of education policy that supports the preservation and utilization of local culture in the context of modern education

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of Pancasila Education learning outcomes in fourth grade students of Mintobasuki 02 State Elementary School through the PjBL (Project Based Learning) model assisted by concrete media and digital-based media. The research used an experimental method with a descriptive quantitative approach. This type of research is Preexperimental with One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. Subjects were taken from all fourth grade students of Mintobasuki 02 Elementary School totaling 23 students, consisting of 6 boys and 17 girls with simple random sampling technique. Data collection was obtained from interviews, observations, and documentation. The reality that occurs in the field, it is known that during Pancasila Education learning takes place there are some students who pay less attention to the explanation of the teacher because the presentation of material using the lecture method so that it seems monotonous and less interesting. In overcoming these problems, an experiment was conducted to increase students' interest as well as learning outcomes through the PjBL model with the help of concrete media and digital media. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes, especially in learning Pancasila Education on the material of forms of norms and rules in everyday life. Evidenced by the acquisition of an increase in the average value of the Pretest 57.09 and Post test 76.00. Although when calculated from the N-Gain test the results are less effective because the percentage is less than 75%, there is still a significant increase even though the effect is only about 43.07%. In addition, the development of learning media is also carried out to support the teaching and learning process by utilizing concrete media and digital media so that it can attract students' interest in learning while providing better learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influence of attitudes toward science and perceptions of learning difficulty on elementary school students’ science achievement and to identify the most dominant affective factors. A quantitative, correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 372 students in grades IV, V, and VI from six elementary schools representing urban, peri-urban, and rural areas. Data was collected using a science attitude questionnaire, a perceived learning difficulty questionnaire, and a short-answer science achievement test. Data analysis employed validity and reliability testing, multiple regression, F-tests (ANOVA), and partial t-tests. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the model was significant (F(7, 364) = 34.5; p < 0.001), R² = 0.399, indicating that the five variables together accounted for 39.9% of the variance in students’ science achievement. Attitudes toward science was the strongest predictor (β = 0.441; t = 9.22; p < 0.001), followed by perceived learning difficulty (β = 0.181; t = 3.84; p < 0.001). Partial t-test analysis revealed significant differences by school location, with peri-urban students outperforming rural students (B = 10.492; p < 0.001) and urban students (B = 6.663; p < 0.001). These findings confirm that affective factors and the learning environment play important roles in shaping elementary school students' science achievement.
