Abstract

This study aims to describe the principal's strategy in promoting literacy and numeracy through the KULINERS (Strong Literacy and Numeracy Tuesday) program at SMP Negeri 3 Sidikalang. This program emerged as a response to the low reading interest and numeracy achievement of students as shown in the Education Report Card. The principal acts as an instructional leader by initiating collaborative activities involving the entire school community.  The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews with the principal as the key informant. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results of the study revealed that: (1) the principal acted as an instructional leader who initiated a program based on an analysis of the Education Report Card data and the actual conditions of the students; (2) the implementation strategy combined a collaborative approach with all school stakeholders and a structured activity format that integrated academic and character building; (3) this program has a significant impact on increasing learning motivation, active student participation, and the formation of discipline and responsibility. The KULINERS program can increase learning motivation, literacy and numeracy skills, and positive character traits such as discipline, responsibility, and cooperation. This innovation is a good practice that can be replicated to support the School Literacy Movement (GLS) and the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a web-based interactive learning media called “SiGaya” using Google Sites to enhance elementary school students’ motivation and learning outcomes in science. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The SiGaya media was designed with interactive features such as videos, quizzes, and games to support engaging and effective learning experiences. The participants consisted of 25 fourth-grade students from an elementary school in Semarang, Indonesia. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and achievement tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis, descriptive qualitative analysis, and inferential statistics. The results show that the content expert validation of the SiGaya media achieved a score of 94%, categorized as very good. Meanwhile, the media expert validation obtained a score of 88%, which is also categorized as very good. Furthermore, the effectiveness test revealed an N-Gain score of 0.71 (71%), indicating a high level of improvement in students’ learning outcomes. Statistical analysis also demonstrated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05). Therefore, the findings suggest that SiGaya is a valid, practical, and effective web-based learning medium that can enhance students’ motivation and learning outcomes in elementary science education. This study contributes to the integration of digital learning innovations in primary education and offers a scalable model for technology-enhanced science learning.

Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the instructional leadership capacity of school principals in Semarang Tengah District, Semarang City. Recognizing the crucial role of principals in improving the quality of education, the program focused on identifying specific challenges principals face in implementing effective instructional leadership and evaluating the impact of intervention strategies. The methodology used included a series of workshops and mentoring sessions designed to equip principals with practical skills. Pre- and post-test results showed a significant increase in understanding, from 32 to 75 percent. Participants widely stated that the material was very useful (79 percent) and expressed a high interest in implementing it in their respective schools (59 percent very interested, 34 percent interested). Eighty-five percent of participants indicated a need for ongoing support and mentoring to implement effectively. The output that has been produced from this service is a self-evaluation instrument for school principals in implementing instructional leadership. These findings emphasize the importance of instructional leadership for student achievement and school improvement. The program contributed to increased understanding and readiness for practice, with a clear demand for ongoing support. Recommendations include comprehensive training by the Education Office and continued collaborative learning through the Principal Working Group.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of SWOT analysis as a strategic management tool for academic quality improvement in public elementary schools in Toroh District, Grobogan Regency, Indonesia. Despite growing scholarship on SWOT applications in educational settings, its systematic use in academic quality management across multiple schools at the district level remains underexplored. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach with a multi-site case study design, data were collected from six school principals and twelve classroom teachers through semi-structured interviews, structured observations, and document analysis. Findings reveal that SWOT analysis effectively surfaced three primary internal strengths — teacher competence, principal leadership, and structured academic programs — alongside three persistent weaknesses: limited learning facilities, inconsistent instructional methods, and restricted professional development access. Externally, government educational support and community involvement were identified as key opportunities, while rapid policy change and inter-institutional competition constituted principal threats. Importantly, an informal peer-mentoring network operating outside formal structures was identified as an unrecognized latent strength. SWOT-based strategy formulation aligned internal capacities with external opportunities; however, a notable gap between strategic intent and operational specificity was observed in the WT quadrant. These findings reframe SWOT analysis as an organizational learning catalyst rather than a static diagnostic tool, offering theoretical and practical implications for evidence-based school improvement planning.

Abstract

Academic supervision evaluation plays a crucial role in ensuring the effectiveness of supervisory practices and teacher professional development in primary schools, yet implementation challenges persist globally. This study examined how academic supervision evaluation is implemented by the principal at SD Negeri 1 Plosoharjo, focusing on evaluation mechanisms, guiding principles, and utilization of results for teacher development. A qualitative descriptive case study was conducted with six participants (one principal and five teachers) selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations, and document analysis, then analyzed using systematic data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation and member checking. Findings revealed that supervision evaluation was implemented systematically through five interconnected components: observation analysis, document review, individualized feedback, reflective dialogue, and follow-up planning. The evaluation process was characterized by objectivity, transparency, dialogue, and teacher agency. An unexpected finding emerged regarding teachers' active participation in interpreting evaluation results and proposing improvement strategies. Evaluation results were utilized as foundations for targeted professional development activities including coaching, workshops, and collaborative learning. Reflective and continuous evaluation of academic supervision contributes to developing reflective learning cultures and enhancing instructional quality and teacher professionalism in primary schools. The study provides empirical evidence for supervision models that balance accountability with developmental purposes.

Abstract

This study examined how teachers at SD Negeri 3 Krangganharjo, a Pioneer School implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in Grobogan Regency, enact pedagogical competence in differentiated learning evaluation. A descriptive qualitative design was employed, with data collected over five months (June–November 2025) through semi-structured interviews, passive participatory classroom observation, and document analysis. Participants comprised the school principal, classroom teachers of Grades IV–VI, and students from the same levels. Instrument validity was established through expert content review, and intercoder reliability yielded κ = 0.82. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman's interactive model; trustworthiness was ensured via source, technique, and time triangulation. Four interrelated findings emerged: (1) teachers deployed varied product-based assessment formats aligned with students' strengths and preferences; (2) task complexity was tiered according to readiness profiles; (3) evaluation was embedded continuously within instruction rather than confined to summative endpoints; and (4) individualized, growth-oriented feedback was consistently provided. An unexpected finding revealed that students demonstrated metacognitive awareness of differentiated evaluation as equitable rather than discriminatory. These practices reflect an enabling institutional culture in which evaluation autonomy, bounded by learning objectives, supports student-centered, inclusive assessment. The study contributes an empirically grounded framework for understanding differentiated evaluation competence within Merdeka Curriculum implementation.
