Abstract

This research analyzes two poems by Bambang Supranoto, namely "Shady Teak Forest" and "Walking On The Rice Fields", using Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic theory with a descriptive qualitative approach. This semiotic theory focuses on the relationship between signifier and signified in poetry. The aim of this research is to reveal the meaning contained in the language elements used by poets to convey messages and emotions. The results of the analysis show that in the poem "Shady Teak Forest", markers such as "wind" and "lush teak leaves" describe the soothing calm of nature, with signs of peace and blessings given by God through nature. Meanwhile, in the poem "Walking On The Rice Fields", markers such as "joyful singing" and "lush rice" describe an atmosphere of joy and gratitude for God's grace which is manifested from fertile nature. This second poem shows the harmony between humans and nature, as well as the importance of protecting and being grateful for the existence of nature as a gift from God. It is hoped that this research can add more insight into the dynamics of signs in poetry and enrich readers' understanding of the hidden meanings contained in literary works. Penelitian ini menganalisis dua puisi karya Bambang Supranoto, yaitu “Teduh Hutan Jati” dan “Berjalan di Pematang Sawah”, menggunakan teori semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Teori semiotika ini menitikberatkan pada hubungan antara penanda (signifier) dan petanda (signified) yang ada dalam puisi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkap makna yang terdapat dalam elemen-elemen bahasa yang digunakan oleh penyair untuk menyampaikan pesan dan emosi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dalam puisi “Teduh Hutan Jati”, penanda seperti “angin” dan “rimbun daun-daun jati” menggambarkan ketenangan alam yang menyejukkan, dengan petanda berupa kedamaian dan keberkahan yang diberikan Tuhan melalui alam. Sedangkan dalam puisi “Berjalan di Pematang Sawah”, penanda seperti “lagu gembira” dan “rimbun padi” menggambarkan suasana gembira dan rasa syukur terhadap karunia Tuhan yang tercermin dalam alam yang subur. Kedua puisi ini menunjukkan keharmonisan antara manusia dengan alam, serta pentingnya menjaga dan mensyukuri keberadaan alam sebagai berkah Tuhan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah pengetahuan lebih dalam tentang dinamika tanda dalam puisi dan memperkaya pemahaman pembaca terhadap makna tersembunyi yang terkandung dalam karya sastra.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the problem of low reading comprehension literacy in Indonesian language learning at school. This study is expected to identify various factors causing and impacting low reading comprehension literacy, as well as research-based solutions that provide theoretical and practical contributions to the development of more effective Indonesian language learning in improving students' reading comprehension literacy. This research method uses a library study or systematic literature review approach. Based on the analysis and discussion of literary materials, low reading comprehension literacy is a systemic and multidimensional problem. This problem is manifested from two main perspectives: international comparative data and national assessment data. Both internal and external factors contribute to low reading comprehension literacy. The impact of low reading comprehension literacy is on students' academic achievement in Indonesian language learning and on a much broader and more comprehensive essence. Various efforts have been made and proven effective in improving reading comprehension literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the adaptation process of the novel Ancika: Dia yang Bersamaku 1995 into its film version and to explain its implications for Indonesian language learning in Senior High School (SMA). The adaptation of a novel into a film is a process that not only transfers the story but also involves structural and narrative transformations due to differences in the characteristics of each medium. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method. The data sources consist of the novel Ancika: Dia yang Bersamaku 1995 and its film adaptation. The data were analyzed by comparing the intrinsic elements of the novel and the film namely plot, characters, and setting based on adaptation theory, which includes reduction, addition, and variation changes. The results show that reduction is carried out by omitting certain narrative details to achieve dramatic effectiveness; additions are made to strengthen conflicts and clarify relationships between characters; and variation changes occur through modifications in the presentation of events without eliminating the core of the story. The findings of this study have implications for Indonesian language learning in Senior High School, particularly in drama text material for Phase F Grade XI of the Merdeka Curriculum, as contextual teaching material that supports the development of students’ critical, analytical, and creative thinking skills.
