Abstract

Change of Function of Rice Field in Blahbatuh District, Gianyar Regency Land use change is something that is difficult to avoid for both the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. The reduction of land for irrigated rice farming in Gianyar Regency in the last 5 years reached 386 ha and specifically in Blahbatuh District reached 139 ha. Saba Village as one of the villages in Blahbatuh District has the most decline, which is 35 ha. This reduction in land occurred in the 5-year period from 2013-2017. This study analyzed the rate of conversion of rice fields in Saba Village and the sustainability of the existence of rice fields in Blahbatuh District. The study uses purposive sampling with a total of 30 respondents. The research method used in this study is Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). The results show that during the last five years the average rate of decline in the rice field area has reached 2% per year. The sustainability status of the three dimensions shows that the economic and environmental dimensions are very sustainable, while the social dimension is quite sustainable so that intervention in the social dimension is needed. Based on the results of the research, it is hoped that the Government, especially the Gianyar Regency Agriculture Office, provides more support for farmers by providing incentives to farmers who keep their rice fields and continue to farm and provide assistance to farmers who experience problems in their agricultural production processes.

Abstract

Analysis of Food Security in Sei Rampah Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai District Food is the most fundamental human need with its fulfillment being the right for everyone. Fulfillment of food needs has four main aspects: food availability, food access, food utilization, food stability. In addition, nutritional status is the outcome of food security. This research aims to analyze the level of food security from three dimensions, namely, food availability, food access, and food utilization. This study uses secondary data obtained from relevant agencies, such as the Departments of Agriculture of Serdang Bedagai District and Sei Rampah. The method used in this research is calculation of indexes of food availability, food access, food utilization and the dimension of food security. The result suggests that the District of Sei Rampah is generally food secure. Looking at the dimension of food availability, 10 out of 17 villages experience high food surplus and 7 villages experience high deficit. The food access dimension of 17 villages shows high accessibility status, while the food utilization dimension shows high usefulness in every village. It is recommended that the government focuses on the proliferation of agricultural land areas in each village because so far only 10 villages produce rice and cassava. Future studies may investigate food insecurity at a broader level, such as at the level of regency and province.

After that, inorder to analyze the technical efficiency by using the Data of Envelopment Analysis(DEA). The equation used is the production function model of Cobb-Douglasproduction function of the natural logarithm. The use of fertilizers and pesticidestogether in the cultivation of asparagus significantly affected the production ofasparagus. Partially only cow manure (X2) and NPK (X4) which significantlyaffected the production of asparagus, asparagus farmers’ income was Rp. 3,219,932for a month and already exceeds the Minimum Wage of Badung Regency.
