Abstract

Instilling regional cultural literacy from an early age is an important foundation in shaping children’s identity and character. The Makassar area as a region rich in local cultural values faces challenges in conveying this cultural wealth to the younger generation, especially early childhood (AUD). This study aims to analyze the need for the development of Virtual Reality (VR)-based digital learning media to stimulate Makassar’s cultural literacy in AUD. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews with PAUD teachers, and questionnaires to parents of students in three PAUD institutions in Pallangga District, Gowa Regency. The results of the analysis showed that 87.5% of teachers stated the lack of interactive learning media that raised local cultural content, and 92.5% of parents stated that their children were more enthusiastic about digital-based learning. Meanwhile, 75% of respondents stated that they did not know the local culture in its entirety. VR-based media is considered to be able to provide an immersive, interactive, and fun learning experience for AUD. Literature studies show that VR media is effective in increasing children’s retention and participation in learning (Radianti et al., 2020). Therefore, the development of VR-based media that integrates elements of Makassar’s local culture such as traditional houses, traditional dances, traditional clothing, and traditional food is an innovative solution that is urgent to be developed. This study recommends the development of a prototype of VR media based on local content as a strategic effort in fostering cultural literacy from an early age.

Abstract

This systematic literature review synthesizes empirical findings published between 2018 and 2025 on the influence of school principals’ managerial competencies planning, organizing, directing, and controlling on educational performance in Indonesia. Using qualitative content analysis, evidence was gathered from Scopus-indexed journals, Sinta-accredited national journals, and reputable conference proceedings. The review consistently indicates that managerial competence significantly enhances teacher performance, learning quality, and student achievement, with studies reporting improvements of 25–40% through effective academic supervision, strategic planning, and resource management. Key mechanisms identified in the literature include structured instructional supervision, collaborative human-resource development, and data-driven decision-making processes that strengthen school climate and organizational efficiency. Although the review does not draw on primary data from any specific region, the synthesized evidence offers conceptual insights for disadvantaged or remote areas such as Mamuju Regency, where infrastructural limitations, resource constraints, and post-disaster vulnerabilities have been widely documented in national reports. The literature suggests that adaptive managerial strategies emphasizing supervision, planning, and climate-building may help address such contextual challenges. The review concludes that strengthening principal preparation, certification, and ongoing managerial training is essential for improving educational outcomes and reducing regional disparities. Future empirical research is recommended to examine how these competencies operate within the unique contextual realities of regions like Mamuju, thereby validating and refining the implications derived from this synthesis.

Abstract

Inclusive education faces persistent challenges related to resource gaps and social isolation. The post-pandemic convergence with digital technologies and the need for novel collaborative models present a transformative opportunity, yet no systematic review has holistically integrated these three core elements. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) aims to map the collaborative models, technological roles, and critical success factors for implementing technology-mediated collaborative inclusive education. Following the PRISMA protocol, searches were conducted in Scopus, Web of Science, and ERIC databases (2019-2024). From an initial pool of 2,348 articles, 48 met the inclusion criteria for thematic analysis. The review identified three innovative models: (1) Global Collaboration Networks connecting students across geographical boundaries; (2) AI-Powered Personalization & Peer Matching for optimal learning group formation; and (3) Digital Community-Engaged Projects. Technologies such as AI and Extended Reality (XR) acted as catalysts for personalization and empathy simulation. Key enabling factors were visionary leadership and teacher training, while primary challenges included the digital divide and algorithmic bias.  The findings signify a paradigm shift towards “Inclusion through Distributed Digital Collaboration.” This integration has a high impact on democratizing access and creating authentic, inclusive learning experiences. Future research should focus on AI ethics, implementation in low-resource settings, and exploring immersive technologies like the Metaverse.
