Abstract

This study aimed to develop the Cijenuk Village website as a community education medium to enhance community participation and public information transparency. The research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, limited implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects included media experts, community education experts, and residents of Cijenuk Village as users. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques with percentage feasibility analysis. The results indicated that the developed village website was categorized as highly feasible based on expert validation and received positive responses from community users. The website effectively improved public information accessibility and encouraged greater community participation in village development processes.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an empowerment model for Paket C learners oriented toward independence and entrepreneurial skills. Problems in equivalency education indicated that learning processes remained instructional and had not fully supported learners’ independence and potential development. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach focusing on conceptual model development and expert validation. The research stages included needs analysis, theoretical review, model design, development of syntax and indicators, and validation by community education experts and PKBM practitioners. The results produced the ICRIP Empowerment Model (Innovative, Creative, Responsive, Independent, Potential Development), which consisted of philosophical, theoretical, and conceptual foundations, operational principles, empowerment syntax, working mechanisms, and measurable empowerment indicators. The model was conceptually feasible and demonstrated strong potential to be applied as a sustainable empowerment approach in Paket C equivalency education.

Abstract

The globalization of the healthcare sector has not only created cross-border employment opportunities but also highlighted the gap between graduates who are ready to compete and those limited by insufficient supporting competencies. One of the major challenges faced by vocational health school alumni is the mastery of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), particularly speaking and listening skills that are essential for clinical communication. In response to this issue, this study aims to develop a communicative and contextual ESP training model for alumni of Rajawali Vocational Health School by integrating andragogical principles and music as a learning medium. This study employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach conducted over a two-month period involving 17 alumni from the Nursing and Pharmacy programs. Through collaborative cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection, participants were not merely positioned as training subjects but also as active partners in the development of the program. The findings revealed that the developed training model had a significant impact on improving participants’ oral English competencies. Approximately 90% of participants demonstrated meaningful improvement, while 88% achieved the targeted minimum 20% increase in pronunciation and vocabulary assessments. Furthermore, 95% of participants showed high levels of participation and enthusiasm throughout the music-based learning activities. These findings indicate that the integration of andragogical principles and music in ESP training is not only quantitatively effective but also capable of creating relevant, participatory, and sustainable learning experiences for health vocational alumni in responding to the demands of the global workforce.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a Canva-assisted microblogging model to enhance nonformal Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers' understanding of fundamental ECE concepts. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The products developed included the MIKRO Model and three Canva-assisted microblogs addressing common misconceptions in ECE practices. The MIKRO Model integrated five stages, namely Access, Identification, Review, Reflection, and Optimization, to facilitate concise, contextual, and reflective learning experiences. The model and microblogs were validated by a model expert and a media expert to determine their feasibility before implementation. A limited field trial involving 20 nonformal ECE teachers was conducted using a pretest-posttest design. The findings indicated that the MIKRO Model was feasible for implementation, with expert validation results categorizing both the model and the microblogs as feasible. Furthermore, teachers' understanding of fundamental ECE concepts improved following the intervention, as reflected in the increase in posttest scores and a moderate N-Gain score. The study concluded that the Canva-assisted MIKRO Model represented an innovative and practical alternative for supporting the professional learning of nonformal ECE teachers through concise, flexible, and reflective learning experiences.

Abstract

Children's socio-emotional development is influenced by parental caregiving patterns, including democratic parenting styles. Many parents are inconsistent in applying caregiving patterns, sometimes influenced by their environment such as family, neighbors, or social media. Inappropriate caregiving leads to children having low self-confidence and difficulties in expressing emotions. This study was conducted to reveal the positive impacts of democratic parenting to encourage more effective caregiving. The research method used is a mixed-method approach with an explanatory sequential model, employing quantitative techniques through questionnaires and qualitative techniques through interviews, observations, and document studies, with a sample of 25 respondents. The results show that democratic parenting has a positive influence on children's socio-emotional development, enhancing their ability to manage emotions, understand feelings, and show empathy. These findings emphasize the   importance   of   consistently   applying   democratic   parenting   to   support   children's   socio - emotional development.

Abstract

Ecosystem literacy is crucial for elementary school students in facing ecological challenges. Transmissive learning and teachers' limited ability to develop digital media hinder the development of higher-order thinking skills. This study developed Canva-assisted PBL media to improve ecosystem literacy in fifth-grade students at an elementary school in West Bandung Regency. This study used the Research and Development (RnD) method with the ADDIE model. A one-group pretest-posttest design was used to measure the media's effectiveness. Data were collected through validation sheets from media experts, material experts, and education practitioners. Teacher and student practicality questionnaires, PBL implementation observation sheets, and a 25-item ecosystem literacy test measured three dimensions of scientific literacy. The results showed that the media received valid categories from media experts and material experts, high practicality from teachers and students, and was proven effective in significantly improving students' ecosystem literacy. The integration of authentic PBL-based problem scenarios with Canva's investigative infographics was particularly effective in developing students' scientific inquiry competencies, especially in areas that are often difficult to cultivate through conventional learning.

Abstract

The development of renewable biomass-based bioplastics is one solution to reduce environmental pollution caused by the use of conventional petroleum-based plastics. One potential source of biomass is Ulva lactuca, which contains ulvan polysaccharides that can be used as a material for forming biodegradable bioplastic films. This study aims to determine the optimum conditions for the synthesis of ulvan-based bioplastics using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Bioplastics were synthesized using the solution casting method with ulvan filtrate as the main matrix and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as the supporting polymer, with glycerol and sorbitol as plasticizers and citric acid and boric acid as cross-linkers. Optimization was performed using a Box–Behnken design with 17 experiments, with independent variables of boric acid mass (0.025 - 0.075 g), mixing temperature (65 - 75 ˚C), and mixing time (15 - 25 minutes). The optimization results showed that optimal conditions at a mixing temperature of 70 °C, boric acid mass of 0.05 g, and mixing time of 20 minutes, with point prediction of 4.1476 MPa in tensile strength, thickness of 0.088 mm, and desirability value of 1. The statistical model for tensile strength demonstrated an R2 value of 0.9468, an adjusted-R2 of 0.8785, and a lack-of-fit value of 0.3024. Meanwhile, the thickness model exhibited an R2 value of 0.9792, an adjusted-R2 of 0.9524, and a lack-of-fit value of 0.7510.
