Abstract

Pesisir Sayung mengalami erosi pantai yang sangat tinggi dan berdampak besar terhadap kehidupan masyarakat sekitar. Salah satu upaya dalam penanganan erosi pantai adalah rehabilitasi ekosistem mangrove. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menyusun prioritas strategi pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove di daerah rehabilitasi. Pengambilan data dilakukaan di tiga desa pesisir yaitu Desa Bedono, Desa Timbulsloko, dan Desa Surodadi. Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam, penyebaran kuesioner dan observasi lapang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode jejaring analitik (Analytical Network Process, ANP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan permasalahan prioritas dalam pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove di pesisir Sayung adalah : konversi lahan mangrove, kegagalan mangrove untuk tumbuh, kurangnya pemantauan dan pengawasan. Solusi prioritas untuk optimasi pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove adalah rehabilitasi dan konservasi ekosistem mangrove, peningkatan partisipasi masyarakat, serta pengawasan dan pemantauan dengan melibatkan masyarakat.

Abstract

Pemodelan dalam pengembangan kawasan pesisir dan pulau-pulau kecil di Teluk Weda bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk kelembagaan bagi pengelolaan kawasan pesisir dan pulau-pulau kecil dengan menggunakan metode Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) telah dilakukan pada daerah Teluk Weda, Kabupaten Halmahera Tengah. Hasil analisis Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) menyimpulkan bahwa kelembagaan pengelolaan yang perlu dipertimbangkan untuk mewujudkan pembangunan kawasan pesisir dan pulau-pulau kecil di Teluk Weda yang berkelanjutan adalah pemerintah, wisatawan, dan perguruan tinggi lewat pengembangan wisata. Upaya yang harus dilakukan adalah meningkatkan produktifitas pemanfaatan sumberdaya alam, mutu produk perikanan dan jumlah permodalan kegiatan perikanan tangkap dengan membantu nelayan dalam menentukan harga perikanan, mengelola sumberdaya alam, peraturan investasi daerah dan membuat kebijakan yang konsisten memegang peranan penting pada pengembangan kawasan pesisir dan pulau-pulau kecil di Teluk Weda. Implikasi kebijakan yang perlu dilakukan yaitu: membuat peraturan daerah yang dapat menunjang kegiatan; mensosialisasikan undang-undang yang telah ditetapkan pemerintah; melakukan pelatihan yang menyangkut undang-undang yang telah ditetapkan pemerintah; mempertahankan peraturan dan adat istiadat yang masih ada sesuai dengan pengelolaan kawasan dan membentuk kelompok swadaya masyarakat yang berkaitan dengan penetapan kawasan.

Abstract

Tujuan umum dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas perlindungan laut di tiga lokasi. Tujuan khususnya adalah (1) untuk mengevaluasi keberlanjutan dari perlindungan laut, dan (2) untuk merumuskan langkah strategis untuk pengembangan perlindungan laut. Penelitian dilakukan di tiga lokasi, yaitu Desa Blongko, Propinsi Sulawesi Utara, Pulau Sebesi, Provinsi Lampung, dan Pulau Harapan, Provinsi DKI Jakarta. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada bulan Juni sampai Desember 2007. Metode analisis terdiri dari (1) analisa sumber daya alam dengan analisis kuantitatif, dan analisa keberlanjutan oleh scaling multi dimensi analisis. Ada 32 atribut telah dianalisa untuk mengevaluasi keberlanjutan perlindungan laut di tiga lokasi. Dengan analisis leverage ditemukan atribut-atribut dengan sensitivitas yang tinggi yaitu kualitas terumbu karang dan ikan karang (ekologi dan lingkungan dimensi); kontribusi pendapatan, mata pencaharian alternatif dan efek ganda dari perlindungan laut (aspek hukum ekonomi dan sosial dimensi);, peraturan daerah dan internalisasi program untuk program pembangunan daerah (dimensi kebijakan); pedoman perlindungan laut, program berkelanjutan, peningkatan kapasitas, dan partisipasi lembaga non pemerintah (dimensi kelembagaan). Tittle: Sustainability of Community Based Management for Marine Protected Area :Cases of the DPL-BM Blongko-Minahasa Selatan, the DPL-BM Sebesi Island-Lampung Selatan and the APL Harapan Island-Kepulauan SeribuGeneral objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of marine sanctuaries in three locations. Specifically of this research were to evaluate the sustainability of marine sanctuary, and to formulate the strategic action for developing of marine sanctuary. Research was conducted at three locations, Blongko in North Sulawesi Province, Sebesi Island in Lampung Province, and Harapan Island, in Jakarta Province. Data collection was conducted during June to December 2007. This research used quantitative analysis by applying natural resources and sustainability analysis through multi dimension scaling analysis. This research applied 32 attributes to evaluate the sustainability of marine sanctuaries in three locations. By analysis of these attributes, it founded the attribute with high sensitivity remains to quality of coral reef and fish coral (ecological and environmental dimension); contribution of income, alternative livelihood and multiplier effect of marine sanctuary (economic and social dimension); legal aspect, local regulation and internalization of the program to local development program (policy dimension); and guidelines of marine sanctuary, extension officer programs and capacity building, and participation of non government institution (institutional dimension).

Abstract

Mangroves prove a habitat for Batillaria zonalis as nursery ground, feeding ground and reproductive ground. This research was conducted from September 2016 - August 2017 and to determine the spasial and temporal pattern  with based on mangrove zone  and environmental characteristics. The gastropods and environmental characteristics were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed that significant changes in gastropod assemblages were primarily due to changes in the water quality and season. Correlation between gastropod and physico-chemical parameters in A. marina  revealed significant relationship with gastropod B. zonalis distribution.

Abstract

It is crucial to understand the microbial community associated with the host when attempting to discern the pathogen responsible for disease outbreaks in scleractinian corals. This study determines changes in the bacterial community associated with Montipora sp. in response to black band disease in Indonesian waters. Healthy, diseased, and dead Montipora sp. (n = 3 for each sample type per location) were collected from three different locations (Pari Island, Pramuka Island, and Peteloran Island). DGGE (Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis) was carried out to identify the bacterial community associated with each sample type and histological analysis was conducted to identify pathogens associated with specific tissues. Various Desulfovibrio species were found as novelty to be associated with infection samples, including Desulfovibrio desulfuricans, Desulfovibrio magneticus, and Desulfovibrio gigas, Bacillus benzoevorans, Bacillus farraginis in genus which previously associated with pathogenicity in corals. Various bacterial species associated with uninfected corals were lost in diseased and dead samples. Unlike healthy samples, coral tissues such as the epidermis, endodermis, zooxanthellae were not present on dead samples under histological observation. Liberated zooxanthellae and cyanobacteria were found in black band diseased Montipora sp. samples.

Abstract

Selat Dampir yang berada di daerah Raja Ampat merupakan salah satu gugusan pulau-pulau kecil yang berada di ujung kepala burung pulau Papua bagian dari kawasan Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) yang memiliki biodiversitas tinggi. Selain itu di lokasi ini terdapat situs arkeologi maritim, sehingga kawasan ini merupakan kawasan yang cocok sebagai kawasan marine eco archeo park. Perlu dilakukan penelitian awal keberadaan lokasi ini seperti kualitas perairan yang dilakukan pada tanggal 7 – 13  Mei 2014. Pengambilan data kualitas perairan dilakukan secara purposive sampling dengan menggunakan alat multiparameter secara in situ dan analisis sampel air di laboratorium. Parameter yang diukur yaitu salinitas, pH, turbiditas, padatan tersuspensi (TSS), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD5), nitrat, tembaga dan nikel. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan menggunakan analisis PCA (Principal Component Analysis). Hasil yang didapat untuk semua parameter masih sesuai dengan KMNLH no 51 tahun 2004, hanya nilai tembaga pada saat pengukuran tidak sesuai, walaupun secara keseluruhan perairan Selat  Dampir pada saat pengukuran masih dalam kondisi baik sebagai daerah taman nasional dan wisata bahari. Berdasarkan analisis PCA didapatkan parameter yang berperan kuat di lokasi adalah BOD5, pH, TSS dan kecerahan. Diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut terkait lokasi penelitian sebagi situs maritim dan daerah wisata bahari di daerah konservasi dalam mewujudkan marine eco archeo park berbasis ekosistem lestari.

Abstract

Mud crabs (Scylla serrata and S. olivacea) are important fisheries resources, but their population in nature is decreasing due to anthropogenic activities, like the deforestation of mangrove forests. Hence, it is crucial to conserve this marine biota for future sustainable use and to conserve our marine biodiversity. Conducting studies on the biological interactions of mud crabs in mangrove habitats can be one of the future conservation approaches. Accordingly, an analysis of the functional relationships between Scylla spp. abundance and the respective mangrove habitat have to be carried out. The research was conducted in the mangrove ecosystem of Bee Jay Bakau Resort Probolinggo (BJBR). Data were collected using line transects and quadrant transects. The Associations between mangroves and mud crab habitat structures were analyzed using the Correspondence Analysis (CA) method. The results show that the relationship matrix between Scylla spp. and the structure of the mangrove habitat is centered on the F1 and F2 factorial axes (89.22%). S. serrata of all size classes were associated with dense mangroves (≥15 trees per 100m2) and high salinities (3-4 ppt), while S. olivacea has shown to be associated with rare to very dense mangrove systems. It indicates that S. olivacea tends to have a higher adaptation rate than S. serrata in this mangrove system. This study will provide information and recommendation for the conservation management of mud crabs and mangrove ecosystems to conserve marine biodiversity.

Abstract

The geomorphology of small islands in the eastern and western parts of Halmahera Island encompasses diversities of geological processes, island forms and types, and topography. The typology of the small islands to the west of Halmahera Island is volcanic and are categorized as hilly islands. To the east, there are coral islands classified as flat islands with smaller area contrast to volcanic ones. This study aims to analyze the land mass elevation of the small islands and the sub-bottom profiles in the eastern and western Halmahera waters. Island elevation data was obtained from Sentinel-2B imagery, whereas seafloor topographic data was acquired from direct field measurements using a GPS sounder. First, the image data underwent atmospheric, radiometric, and sunlight corrections, while the actual depth was estimated through bathymetry correction using tidal data. Then, QGIS version 3.16.6 and ArcGIS version 10.8 were used to analyze the data. The results show that the slope degree of volcanic islands is higher and their seafloor topography is steeper than that of coral islands. The slope degree of Ternate, Maitara, Tidore, and Hiri Islands, abbreviated as Termadoreh, is more than 30o with elevation of more than 100 meters, characterizing hilly islands. While there is only Pakal Island in Buli Bay that has a slope of 33o and the highest elevation of only 100 meters, it is nevertheless considered a flat island. Significantly, the different typologies indicate different morphogenesis and sub-bottom topography; i.e., volcanic islands have higher slope degrees and steeper seafloor profiles compared to coral islands.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang sebaran salinitas perairan laut Kabupaten Bengkayang pada musim kemarau. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melalukan pengambilan data salinitas, suhu dan konduktivitas massa air berdasarkan kedalaman di 23 stasiun pengukuran.  Lokasi penelitian berada pada koordinat 107,68 s.d 108,93 BT dan 0,69 LS s.d 0,87 LU. Lokasi penelitian terdiri atas lima lintasan yang membentang dari timur ke barat dan setiap lintasan terdiri atas empat stasiun pengamatan serta penambahan tiga stasiun pengukuran di sisi timur, barat dan selatan Pulau Lemukutan. Analisis dan visualisasi data massa air (suhu, salinitas, dan densitas) dilakukan dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak Ocean Data View (ODV) versi 4.7.6. Hasil analisis dan visualisasi data massa air menunjukkan bahwa salinitas massa air di perairan laut Kabupaten Bengkayang pada musim kemarau berada pada rentang 28,96 s.d 32,5 psu. Sebaran salinitas permukaan di daerah penelitian terbagi atas tiga bagian yaitu bagian utara, bagian tengah dan bagian selatan daerah penelitian, dengan tiap bagian membentang dari timur ke barat atau tegak lurus garis pantai. Massa air bersalinitas rendah (MABR) yang terjebak di bagian tengah diduga berasal dari massa air dari sungai yang terletak di bagian selatan pesisir Kalimantan yaitu Sungai Kapuas dan Sungai Mempawah. MABR tersebut terdorong dan bergerak ke arah utara sesuai dengan arah arus yang terjadi di pesisir Kalimantan Barat pada musim kemarau. Stratifikasi kolom air dalam kondisi stabil di seluruh daerah penelitian. Massa air yang bersalinitas kurang dari 30,5 psu ditemukan hingga kedalaman 4,5 meter di bagian barat daya, bagian selatan dan bagian tenggara Pulau Lemukutan. Massa air dengan salinitas 30,75 s.d 31,75 psu dapat dijumpai dari garis pantai hingga mencapai bagian barat Pulau Lemukutan dengan kedalaman sampai 10 meter dari permukaan.

Abstract

Blue swimming crab (BSC) is a fishery commodity with high economic value and great demand in domestic and foreign markets. P. pelagicus swimming crabs are commonly found in Indonesian sea waters, one of the largest contributors to the country's foreign exchange after shrimp and tuna. The high demand for blue crab resources will trigger an increase in fishing efforts. If this is done continuously, it is feared that it could endanger the population structure. Moreover, disrupting the sustainability of blue swimming crab resources in the waters, this study examines the morphometric distribution and growth pattern of P. pelagicus crabs based on environmental characteristics in Candi waters, Pamekasaan Regency. Census sampling was carried out using the census method; the census method was carried out by taking all crab samples caught by fishermen. The results obtained found 33 individual crabs, which were divided into three classes, namely small (<10 cm), medium (>10 cm), and large (>12 cm) size classes. Male crabs dominated the research locations with wider straps than female crabs. The analysis results show that the width-weight relationship's b values are 1.47 (males) and 2.00 (females). In addition, male and female crabs have a positive allometric growth pattern. Blue swimming crabs are often found in habitats with a substrate of dusty mud, high salinity and organic matter.
