Abstract

The ability of library staff in building visitors’ trust and assurance determines customer satisfaction and service quality. The purpose of this research is to find out the improvement of customer satisfaction through the application of smiling and greeting in circulation service at the library of Jambi University. This research is a service action research. The subjects were 30 students of Jambi University. This research was conducted in two cycles, using steps in action research which included planning, action, evaluation and reflection. This research was conducted collaboratively between researchers as observers and library staff as service providers. Data collection techniques used in this study include questionnaires, observations, interviews, and check lists. The result of this study obtained the percentage of customer satisfaction before the implementation of service is 48% with a moderate level, then increased by 17% to 67% with a high level in the first cycle and in the second cycle increased by 14% to 81% which is the highest level achieved due to morning greetings with hands folded in front of the chest, smiling teeth and small talks that ask questions related to customers’ personal.

Abstract

The low mathematical communication skills of students should be the main issue that should be of concern to an educator. Learning should be designed through problems that allow students to be able to do better mathematical communication. This study aims to produce an E-LKPD with a Problem-Based Learning approach based on Jambi culture with valid, practical, and effective quality to improve students' mathematical communication skills. The subject of this research is class VIII MTsSBustanulUlum in even semester 2023/2024. This type of research is Research and Development with the ADDIE model. The results of this study indicate that the quality of E-LKPD developed has valid, practical, and effective categories. The validity can be seen from the results of expert validation in the field of media and learning materials which show that E-LKPD is good and feasible to use, practicality can be seen from the perceptions of students and teachers who give positive responses to the E-LKPD developed and effectiveness can be seen from the increase in students' mathematical communication skills by comparing the pree test and post-test scores with the N-Gain test with an acquisition of 0.50 with a moderate category. Thus to improve students' mathematical communication skills can use E-LKPD with a problem-based learning approach based on the Jambi culture that has been developed.

Abstract

This research and development (R&D) study aims to develop and evaluate the validity and practicality of integrated teaching materials based on the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach with deep learning principles to enhance the mathematical understanding of fourth-grade elementary school students. The study was conducted in response to the challenge of teachers' limited competence in designing teaching tools that are responsive to students' diverse needs and characteristics, a key requirement of Indonesia's Independent Curriculum. The ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) was employed as the systematic development framework. The subjects were students from SDN 131/IV, SDN 42/IV, and SDN 64/IV in Jambi City. Data were collected through validation sheets by experts and practicality questionnaires administered to teachers and students. The results demonstrated that the developed teaching materials achieved a very high validity level, with an average score of 97.36% across media, content, and language aspects. Furthermore, practicality tests showed consistently high scores from both teachers and students across all three schools, with averages above 89%, categorized as "Good Practicality." The findings indicate that the deep learning-based TaRL integrated teaching material is a valid, practical, and effective tool for facilitating personalized, engaging, and collaborative mathematics learning, ultimately supporting the goals of differentiated instruction within the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited use of mathematics learning media in third-grade elementary schools, which is still dominated by textbooks and whiteboards. Consequently, it has not fully facilitated active student participation or supported the needs of the concrete operational stage of cognitive development. Therefore, this study aims to develop and examine the validity and practicality of Smart Box learning media on the topic of relationships between standard units of length for third-grade elementary school students. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) study using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of analysis, design, development, etation, and evaluation. The results of the study show that the Smart Box media was considered valid based on the media expert assessment with a percentage of 77.5%, highly valid according to material experts with 96.67%, and highly valid according to language experts with 100%. In addition, the practicality test results based on teacher responses reached 100%, while student responses reached 96.04%, both categorized as highly practical. Thus, the Smart Box learning media meets the criteria of validity and practicality, making it feasible to be used as mathematics learning media in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aims to develop a two-tier multiple-choice diagnostic instrument to address student misconceptions regarding weight and length measurement in third-grade elementary school. This research was motivated by the limited use of initial assessments capable of uncovering students' thought processes, resulting in the ineffectiveness of misconception detection at the beginning of the lesson. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study was conducted at SD Negeri 155/I Sungai Buluh, with 16 third-grade students as subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, validation sheets, and tests. The validation results showed a 90% percentage, categorized as highly valid. The reliability test obtained a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.839, categorized as reliable. Item analysis showed all items were valid with good levels of difficulty and discriminatory power. The effectiveness test showed the instrument was able to identify 31% of misconceptions, categorized as moderate. Therefore, the developed instrument is deemed suitable for use as an initial assessment in elementary school mathematics learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of mathematics learning media on the Time Measurement material in class II of SD Negeri 174/IV Jambi City. The learning process is still one-way with the teacher as the center of activity, while the available media is limited, only in the form of pictures from textbooks. This condition causes students to have difficulty understanding the material and their low involvement in the learning process. This research aims to develop interactive multimedia based on Articulate Storyline with a Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to increase active involvement and understanding of student concepts. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the DDD-E model, including the stages of Decide, Design, Reveal (Develop), and Evaluate. The developed product contains materials, videos, and interactive quizzes that are in accordance with Phase A Mathematics Learning Outcomes and student characteristics. The expert validation results show a validity level of 96% (Very Valid) for the language aspect, 94% (Very Valid) for the media, and 78.18% (Valid) for the material, while the practicality test shows 90% (Very Practical) for the teacher, 87% (Very Practical) for the small group, and 93.33% (Very Practical) for the large group. This confirms that this multimedia is feasible and easy to use. This interactive multimedia has the potential to increase student engagement, strengthen understanding of the concept of time measurement, and develop critical and creative thinking skills. This development opens up opportunities for applying similar media to other materials with the integration of additional digital features to enrich the learning experience of students.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the lack of contextual learning materials that integrate local cultural values into elementary education, particularly related to Jambi Malay Culture. The absence of appropriate teaching resources has resulted in limited student understanding of local wisdom and cultural identity. Therefore, this study aims to develop innovative local content teaching materials based on Jambi Malay Culture to strengthen students’ character and appreciation of their cultural heritage. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The participants of this study were fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 151/IV Jambi City. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results of the study show that (1) the validity of the developed teaching materials was categorized as very valid with an average score of 3.68 out of 4, covering content accuracy, language, and visual design; (2) the practicality was very practical with a score of 85%, as both teachers and students responded positively to ease of use and attractiveness; and (3) the effectiveness was proven by a 27% increase in students’ posttest results, indicating improved understanding of local cultural values
