Abstract

This research is motivated by the limitations of mathematics learning media on the Time Measurement material in class II of SD Negeri 174/IV Jambi City. The learning process is still one-way with the teacher as the center of activity, while the available media is limited, only in the form of pictures from textbooks. This condition causes students to have difficulty understanding the material and their low involvement in the learning process. This research aims to develop interactive multimedia based on Articulate Storyline with a Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to increase active involvement and understanding of student concepts. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the DDD-E model, including the stages of Decide, Design, Reveal (Develop), and Evaluate. The developed product contains materials, videos, and interactive quizzes that are in accordance with Phase A Mathematics Learning Outcomes and student characteristics. The expert validation results show a validity level of 96% (Very Valid) for the language aspect, 94% (Very Valid) for the media, and 78.18% (Valid) for the material, while the practicality test shows 90% (Very Practical) for the teacher, 87% (Very Practical) for the small group, and 93.33% (Very Practical) for the large group. This confirms that this multimedia is feasible and easy to use. This interactive multimedia has the potential to increase student engagement, strengthen understanding of the concept of time measurement, and develop critical and creative thinking skills. This development opens up opportunities for applying similar media to other materials with the integration of additional digital features to enrich the learning experience of students.

Abstract

This study examines how Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), digital literacy, and instructional design skills synergistically influence perceived impactful learning among elementary teacher education students. A sequential explanatory mixed-methods design was employed: quantitative data from 222 students via surveys, followed by qualitative data from 15 students through focus group interviews. Quantitative results show PCK and instructional design skills collectively explain 70% of variance in impactful learning, with balanced and strong effects, while digital literacy functions as a supporting enabler rather than primary determinant. Qualitative findings identify six facilitating factors, eight barriers, and seven moderators that contextualize competency integration patterns. The study proposes three conceptual frameworks Synergistic Competency Framework, Grade Responsive Pedagogy Framework, and Pedagogy Primacy Framework integrated within the Subject-Specific Deep Learning Pedagogy (SSDLP) model, which positions PCK as the foundational layer for technology-enhanced instruction. Conclusions emphasize that impactful learning emerges when pedagogical foundations precede technological integration, with field experience and intrinsic motivation as critical catalysts. Teacher education programs should prioritize systematic PCK development, positioning digital literacy as complementary infrastructure.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving and computational thinking (CT) are essential competencies in 21st-century mathematics education. This study developed and evaluated an ethnomathematics-based learning model integrated with CT to enhance elementary students’ problem-solving skills. Using a Research and Development approach guided by the ADDIE framework, the model incorporated local Jambi cultural artifacts, including traditional batik geometric patterns, architectural designs, and community-based measurement practices. The model was implemented over eight instructional sessions (four weeks) with 30 fifth-grade students. Expert validation was conducted by three specialists using a five-point Likert scale assessing content, instructional design, and language clarity, yielding a high validity index (M = 4.06/5.00; 81.2%). Effectiveness was examined using a one-group pretest–posttest design (without a control group). Mathematical problem-solving was measured through an essay-based test aligned with Polya’s stages, while CT was assessed using a rubric-scored written test covering decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking (Cronbach’s α 0.80). Results showed significant improvements in mathematical problem-solving (pre: M = 68.00, SD = 7.85; post: M = 86.00, SD = 6.92; p .001) and CT (pre: M = 65.15, SD = 8.10; post: M = 83.30, SD = 7.25; p .001), with a large effect size (d = 2.45). These findings provide preliminary evidence for integrating ethnomathematics and CT, warranting larger controlled studies to confirm generalizability.

Abstract

The difference in student’s needs and abilities in learning mathematics made teachers need to vary learning. This study aimed to describe the steps, implementation, and obstacles in the implementation of differentiated learning in mathematics learning in elementary schools. The location of this study was SDN 47/IV Kota Jambi. The subjects of this research were the principal, IVD class teachers, and IVD class students. Qualitative phenomenology was the type of approach used in this study. This study used interview guidelines, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results of the study found that differentiated learning in mathematics subjects begins with mapping students' mathematics learning needs, designing learning according to mapping results, and conducting evaluations on an ongoing basis. The implementation of differentiated learning does not mean that in the process it distinguishes all components of learning for one student at a time. The obstacles that are often faced are limited time and lack of experience so it needs adaptation.
