Abstract

Abstract This research explains the importance of arts education in developing the creativity of students with intellectual disabilities. Arts education provides a vital space for emotional expression and growth for students with special needs. Psychoanalysis, especially the concepts of the unconscious and psychological dynamics, is the basis for understanding the resources of human creativity, especially in the context of art. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach on SLBN Gedangan Sidoarjo students who are involved in coloring classes. The results show that each mentally retarded student expresses his creativity with unique characteristics. Some choose colors at random, while others show a preference for bright colors to suit their cheerful personality. There are even those who prefer to just draw without coloring. These findings emphasize that arts education is not only about the end result of the work of art, but also about the creative process that influences students' overall development. This confirms that through art and psychoanalytic understanding, arts education can be an important means to improve self-expression, social interaction, and skill development of students with intellectual disabilities in their psychomotor context.

Abstract

The development of education in Indonesia must use at least four basic strategies. Namely, The first is equitable distribution of opportunities for education; the second is relevance; the third is quality improvement, and the fourth is efficiency. Generally, this strategy can be divided into two dimensions, namely education improvement and equity. Development of quality improvement is expected to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of education. "Dimensions of educational equity are expected to provide equal opportunities in obtaining education for all school ages" (Amri, 2013: 68). In realizing distribution of opportunities to obtain education, Surabaya implements a program for acceptance of new students through the path of community partners. The emergence of this policy is also a proof of the government's commitment in carrying out the mandate of the Constitution regarding 20% of the budget for education. This study uses an evaluation research with a qualitative approach. The main data source in this study was obtained by snowball sampling. Data collection techniques in this study used three techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. State High School 13 Surabaya is one of the schools implementing a citizen partner program. The conclusion from this study states that the implementation of the citizen partner program in State High School 13 Surabaya has not yet been reached because of the discovery of elements of nepotism and lack of socialization resulting in one student having not been affected by the community partner program.

Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documents. The data analysis technique used in this study was an interactive analysis model consisting of three components, namely data reduction, triangulation, data presentation and conclusion making. The results of this study indicate that teacher performance viewed from pedagogical competencies has generally run well and accorded to the academic qualifications and teachers competency standards set by the government. However, the weaknesses of teachers that are still very visible are in creativity in the application of learning both methods and strategies, or in making learning media to support teaching and learning activities. Furthermore, the use of technology is still low and most teachers still use conventional methods in teaching. Whereas teacher performance in terms of professional competence is still not in accordance with academic qualification standards and teacher competencies set by the government. There are still weaknesses in the development of creativity related to media or teaching aids that support learning. In addition, the low implementation of Classroom Action Research (CAR) serves to improve the professionalism of teachers themselves. And the last is the utilization of information and communication technology for personal development that has not been maximized.

Abstract

This article examines the transformation of music's meaning and function in the digital disruption era through the lens of Jean Baudrillard’s hyperreality framework. Algorithmically curated digital music such as "Focus Mode" or "Lo-fi to Study To" playlists has shifted from being an aesthetic expression to becoming a simulated affective instrument designed to regulate mood and productivity. This phenomenon not only reflects the decline of artistic depth but also opens new pedagogical opportunities. Using a qualitative-critical approach based on literature review and discourse analysis, the study explores how simulated music can function as a pedagogical tool, both as a means to shape learning atmospheres and as an object of cultural critique. The findings reveal that, when used reflectively, digital music can enhance affective awareness, media literacy, and aesthetic meaning among learners in an age dominated by signs and algorithms. In this context, music is no longer merely background sound but a contested space between simulation and consciousness. Therefore, music education in the digital era must be designed not just for convenience but to cultivate critical reflection on how sound mediates learning experiences and shapes the subjectivity of the digital generation.

Abstract

This conceptual study examines how musical preferences reflect personality traits, using Raymond Cattell’s 16 Personality Factors (16PF) as a theoretical lens to inform personalized strategies in arts education. Through an integrative qualitative literature review, it synthesizes insights from music psychology, personality theory, and affective pedagogy to develop a framework for emotionally resonant and cognitively responsive learning environments. Findings indicate that preferences for genres such as classical, jazz, pop, or hip-hop are closely linked to psychological traits like sensitivity, liveliness, openness to change, rule-consciousness, and social boldness. These associations enable educators to identify students’ affective orientations and adapt arts instruction to their individual learning styles and emotional needs. The proposed framework addresses key educational challenges such as emotional disengagement and cognitive fatigue by positioning music as both a reflective medium and a pedagogical tool for fostering self-awareness and personal expression. It further advocates the use of informal assessments and personality profiling to support differentiated instruction and culturally relevant curriculum design. The study contributes a theoretically grounded pedagogical model that integrates personality-informed strategies with student-centered approaches, enhancing learner engagement, authenticity, and inclusion. Ultimately, this research offers a conceptual foundation for arts education that is more personalized, emotionally intelligent, and psychologically responsive.
