Abstract

The Omah Sawah community focuses on environment-based education for children aged 7-13 years. One of the activities is a weekly school held at the Omah Sawah Pavilion every weekend. Activities include environmental observation, flora-fauna identification, yoga, natural batik dyeing introduction, and writing. The limited skills of facilitators, consisting of teenage alumni of Omah Sawah, in innovating learning, and the lack of supporting facilities at Omah Sawah pose challenges. One alternative to enhance learning innovation and instructor skills is by introducing and studying Photovoice. This community service began with preparation, including permission requests and field surveys, followed by curriculum development training using the Photovoice method through lectures and practice. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test methods. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge of the Photovoice method and its use in environmental education.

Abstract

As a metropolitan city with limited land for food production, Semarang faces a challenge in maintaining its food security. This issue is exacerbated by climate change, increasing the risk of crop failure. As a result, Semarang still relies on food supplies from other regions. This situation has encouraged innovation through the concept of urban farming. Urban farming allows communities to optimize vacant land, providing a mitigation strategy against food shortages while creating green open spaces and offering economic value. The urban farming activities are supported by SAKA Energi Muriah Limited and Semarang State University, which conduct community empowerment, including: (1) socialization, (2) formation of farmer groups, (3) training for farmer groups, (4) urban farming system training, (5) urban farming implementation, (6) provision of facilities and technology, and (7) monitoring and evaluation. The results show that urban farming successfully provides an alternative food source, especially during floods, and increases community awareness of food security and the environment. Training in cultivation techniques, organizational development, and provision of facilities and infrastructure have been key factors in the program's success. The urban farming model applied includes vertical pipes, hanging pots, and polybags. The plants to be cultivated include Brazilian spinach, celery, strawberries, medicinal plants, and ornamental plants. Active community involvement through institution-building, training, and implementation has strengthened residents' ability to utilize limited urban land while contributing to the provision of green open spaces.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum aims to give freedom to educational institutions and teachers in designing learning that suits the needs and characteristics of students. In addition, this curriculum also directs the development of student character and skills, not just centered on achieving test scores. So the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology issued a decree to implement the independent curriculum which is listed in the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia number 262 / M / 2022. Based on the implementation of the independent curriculum that has been running from 2022, there has not been much discussion about the suitability of the PSAJ in terms of the distribution of the cognitive domain. The research to be carried out uses a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The research will be carried out by determining the object of research on purpose, so the technique used is Purposive Sampling. The suitability of PSAJ to the distribution of cognitive domains when viewed from the percentage of each school, S01 has a distribution of Low Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), the percentage in S02 shows the assessment of PSAJ which has a level of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), while in S03, represents the level of test items Middle Thinking Skills (MOTS) and High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The knowledge dimension that is often presented is the conceptual dimension, which indicates that the questions attempt to improve learners' conceptual understanding. The thing that needs to be considered in making questions is of course not to be separated from the AKM and the need for the suitability of the level of thinking according to the ability of students.

Abstract

This research is driven by the urgency of maintaining the quality of the Indonesian language in the realm of online journalism, particularly on major media platforms such as CNN Indonesia. Online media plays a central role as the primary source of information, but the speed of publication often encounters linguistic errors that have the potential to damage credibility and lead to misinterpretation among readers. The focus of the study on syntactic errors is crucial because errors in sentence structure, diction, and conjunctions directly affect the meaning and effectiveness of communication. This study aims to analyze and describe the forms of syntactic errors (including sentence pattern errors, non-standard diction, and conjunction redundancy) and offer recommendations for improvement based on standard Indonesian language rules. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with a syntactic approach. Data in the form of linguistic units at the phrase, clause, and sentence levels from all CNN Indonesia news texts for the period of August 2025, collected using the Listen and Note Technique. The findings are anticipated to show a dominance of sentence ineffectiveness, incorrect use of conjunctions, and temporally illogical diction errors. This research is expected to contribute as a practical guide for editors and news writers to improve the quality of editing, while also supporting literacy efforts and the use of good and correct Indonesian in the digital public space.

Abstract

Low participation of school members in waste management and the limited integration of environmental education into the school curriculum are key challenges in implementing the Environmental Care and Culture Movement in Schools (PBLHS) at SMP Al-Fattah Tambakrejo, Semarang City. This research employed a community-based participatory action design involving teachers, students, and Adiwiyata cadres as active partners. The program was implemented over an eight-month period through four main stages: (1) needs assessment and initial coordination, (2) capacity building via training and workshops on environmental literacy, leadership, and waste management, (3) provision of eco-friendly facilities including reusable eating–drinking utensils and a maggot cultivation unit for organic waste processing, and (4) mentoring and evaluation of behavioral change. Data were collected through pre-test and post-test questionnaires, observation of waste generation, and documentation of lesson plan (RPP) integration. The findings show an increase in the number of teachers incorporating environmental topics into RPPs, a 50% rise in student participation in waste reduction activities, and a measurable decrease in single-use plastic and food waste generation. The study demonstrates that combining curriculum integration, student leadership empowerment, and simple waste processing technology can significantly strengthen environmental edu-literacy and foster a sustainable school culture.

Abstract

The integration of Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) has been widely advocated in technology-enhanced learning; however, empirical evidence linking TPACK-based differentiated instruction to the development of critical listening literacy in higher education remains limited. This study addresses this gap by examining the pedagogical impact of a TPACK-integrated differentiated instructional model on undergraduate students' literal and critical listening competencies. A quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was employed involving 72 students from two Indonesian public universities. The experimental group (n = 37) received TPACK-based differentiated instruction, while the control group (n = 35) underwent conventional teaching. Data were analyzed using parametric statistical procedures, including paired- and independent-sample t-tests and normalized gain (N-gain) analysis. Results demonstrate statistically significant improvements in both groups; however, the experimental group achieved substantially greater learning gains (M_pre = 73; M_post = 87) compared to the control group (M_pre = 69; M_post = 80), with a high N-gain score (0.53) versus a moderate gain (0.35). The findings suggest that systematic integration of technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge within differentiated frameworks enhances higher-order listening literacy by promoting cognitive engagement and evaluative processing. This study contributes empirical support to the TPACK framework by extending its application to critical literacy development and offers pedagogical implications for technology-mediated language instruction in higher education contexts.
