Abstract

ABSTRAKFotodegradasi merupakan proses penguraian senyawa organik menjadi senyawa yang lebih sederhana dengan bantuan energi foton yang berasal dari sinar UV. Proses fotodegradasi memerlukan fotokatalis yang umumnya merupakan bahan semikonduktor seperti PbO. Pada penelitian ini digunakan zeolit-PbO untuk menjadi katalis dalam mendegradasi zat warna. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi optimum degradasi zat warna methanyl yellow menggunakan komposit zeolit-PbO. Fotodegradasi zat warna methanyl yellow dilakukan dengan variasi pH dan massa komposit. Pengukuran hasil degradasi zat warna methanyl yellow menggunakan Spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 440 nm. Komposit zeolit-PbO mampu mendegradasi zat warna methanyl yellow dengan pH 5, massa optimum 400 mg dengan waktu 150 menit dengan presentase degradasi sebesar 90,17%. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa komposit zeolit-PbO dapat digunakan dalam proses fotodegradasi zat warna methanyl yellow.Kata Kunci: Komposit zeolit-PbO, Methanyl yellow, FotodegradasiABSTRACTPhotodegradation is the process of breaking down organic compounds into simpler compounds with the help of photon energy originating from UV light. The photodegradation process requires a photocatalyst which is generally a semiconductor material such as PbO. In this research, zeolite-PbO was used to act as a catalyst to degrade dyes. This research is an experimental study which aims to determine the optimum conditions for the degradation of methanyl yellow dye using a zeolite-PbO composite. Photodegradation of methanyl yellow dye was carried out by varying the pH and mass of the composite. Measurement of the degradation results of methanyl yellow dye using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 440 nm. The zeolite-PbO composite was able to degrade methanyl yellow dye with a pH of 5, an optimum mass of 400 mg in 150 minutes with a degradation percentage of 90.17%. The results obtained indicate that the zeolite-PbO composite can be used in the photodegradation process of methanyl yellow dye.Keywords: Zeolite-PbO composite, Methanyl yellow, Photodegradation

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the adsorption kinetic model of Cd(II) from aqueous solution using Surfactant Modified Activated Carbon-Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SMAC-SLS). This study began by varying pH, contact time, and adsorbate concentration. The concentration of Cd(II) was measured using a spectrophotometric method. The results of the analysis showed that the optimum pH occurred at pH 5 with an adsorption percentage of 84.58±1.44% and the optimum contact time at 100 minutes with an adsorption percentage of 88.75±1.5%. Furthermore, in the variation of adsorbate concentration, the adsorption percentage decreased with increasing adsorbate concentration. The adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo second order with an R2 value of 0.9945 with an adsorption capacity of 8.89 mg/g. Thus, the use of SMAC-SLS as a future adsorbent for Cd(II) is highly recommended.

Abstract

Penyusunan referensi dalam artikel ilmiah sangat diperlukan dalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas sumber dari suatu artikel ilmiah yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini masih kurang diperhatikan dan menjadi fokus dari mahasiswa karena dianggap tidak penting dalam kerangka artikel ilmiah. Hal ini terlihat dari masih terbatasnya wawasan dan pengetahuan mahasiswa dalam mencari dan menyusun sumber informasi dengan baik pada artikel ilmiah. Dengan demikian diperlukan kegiatan pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi mendeley kepada mahasiswa. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan dan pengetahuan mengenai penyusunan referensi artikel ilmiah dengan menggunakan aplikasi Mendeley. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah Jurusan Kimia FMIPA UNM yang terletak di Kecamatan Tamalate, Kota Makassar, Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Adapun materi yang disampaikan mengenai tata cara membuat daftar pustaka menggunakan aplikasi Mendeley. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan. Tahap pertama yaitu tahap perencanaan, tahap kedua yaitu implementasi dan tahap ketiga yaitu evaluasi. Dengan penggunaan aplikasi Mendeley, diharapkan terjadi peningkatan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menyusun referensi artikel ilmiah yang berdampak pada meningkatnya kualitas karya ilmiah mahasiswa. Abstract

Bioinorganic science and the utilization of metal ions in the synthesis and design of new materials have received considerable attention in relation to their use as new biomaterials. One of the important roles of metal ions is to control the characteristics of the resulting biomaterials, namely their biological and chemical properties. To date, main group metal ions and transition metals have been used in the fabrication process of silicate and phosphate-based ceramics. Metal ions are used to modify their chemical composition and structure to overcome the shortcomings of silicate and phosphate-based ceramics. Calcium silicate (CaSiO3, CS) ceramics are biocompatible and bioactive. In this review, we consider the apatite-forming ability and biological properties of ion-doped CS ceramics such as bredigite, akermanite, monticellite, diopside, merwinite, hardystonite, baghdadite and sphene. Overall, according to the studies conducted on CS bioceramics, all of them may be good candidates for bone tissue regeneration

Abstract

Empty Oil Palm Bunches (EOPB) are waste products from palm oil mills, the waste is produced in large quantities, but most palm oil mills have not utilized this waste product adequately. There are several contents of EOPB, namely cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, each of which has economic value so that it can be utilized further. One significant opportunity is that cellulose in EOPB will be converted into glucose or bioethanol. Bioethanol is one of the options in supporting the availability of renewable energy resources. The bioethanol production process consists of initial pretreatment, hydrolysis, fermentation and purification. The delignification process of Empty Oil Palm Bunches (EOPB) using physical and chemical pretreatment can break down lignin and hemicellulose so that cellulose can be converted into glucose in bioethanol production. The pretreatment procedure with H2SO4 solvent is used to increase cellulose content. The purpose of this study was to determine how different concentrations of H2SO4 affect the amount of cellulose in the EOPB pretreatment process. Additional studies on bioethanol can be done with this cellulose content. There is an experimental component in this study, namely through direct observation and testing of materials containing different concentrations of H2SO4, namely 3%, 5%, and 7%, data were collected through laboratory experiments. The cellulose content for 0% H2SO4 concentration was 16.15%, 3% H2SO4 was 30.00%, 5% H2SO4 was 36.35%, and 7% H2SO4 was 41.09% indicating that the H2SO4 solvent can increase the cellulose content.

Abstract

Sabun cuci piring merupakan salah satu barang yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh masyarakat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Tingginya kebutuhan masyarakat terhadap sabun cuci piring, menjadikan terbukanya peluang usaha untuk memproduksi sabun cuci piring. Pemberdayaan masyarakat terutama kelompok ibu-ibu PKK untuk memproduksi sabun cuci piring bisa dilakukan karena pembuatan sabun cuci piring yang relatif mudah dipelajari dan diproduksi. Akan tetapi, pengetahuan masyarakat tentang bahan kimia dan proses produksi sabun cuci piring masih sangat minim. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan wawasan tentang peluang usaha rumahan dan keterampilan pembuatan sabun cuci piring pada ibu-ibu PKK Kelurahan Samata Kecamatan Somba Opu Kabupaten Gowa. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat khususnya dalam bidang ekonomi serta menumbuhkan kesadaran dan kemandirian dalam berwirausaha. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini meliputi koordinasi dengan mitra, penyuluhan, pelatihan pembuatan sabun cuci piring serta evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini yaitu berupa produk sabun cuci piring dari bunga telang yang telah dikemas dan diproduksi serta dipasarkan oleh mitra

Abstract

Unique and varied bioactive compounds produced by the ocean have drawn attention and served as a focus for creating antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents. As part of the approach for locating these research sources, databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, MDPI, Google Scholar, Springer Link, Web of Science, Scopus, and Wiley Online Library were used to identify completed studies. Numerous intriguing bioactive compounds have so far been isolated from marine bacteria. A crucial resource in the ongoing search for novel peptides, proteins, lipids, nucleosides, enzymes, alkaloids, polyketides, and terpenoids is the diversity of marine bacterium strains. This review summarizes several bacterial intracellular and extracellular bioactive compounds that have been applied as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents in 2016–2024, which we present in the form of structures, species sources, and evaluations of these compounds' antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activities. Therefore, this review article can be used as a recommendation for utilizing biomaterials from marine bacteria that are promising in the future for industrial-scale production of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents.

Abstract

In the modern era, electrical energy has become a significant need that drives the large consumption of fossil fuels and their environmental impacts. Supercapacitors can reduce this large consumption of natural polymers such as cellulose acetate (CA), which can be synthesized from Gracilaria sp. Composites with CA can be an environmentally friendly alternative electrode with low toxicity. The results show that the cellulose has been successfully synthesized from the algae Gracilaria sp., which was proven by FTIR spectra analysis. The results also show that supercapacitor electrodes have been successfully made where the manufactured electrodes form a composite between CA and nickel oxide (NiO), with the highest specific capacitance and specific energy values of 15.5 × 102 F/g and 13.3 × 102 Wh/kg, respectively, on the CA-NiO2 electrode, but when the NiO concentration is higher than the CA concentration the specific capacitance and specific energy decrease as shown on the CA-NiO electrode with NiO mass of 0.6 g. Thus, the materials results of this study can be applied to electric vehicles and technology that requires electricity storage in the future.

Abstract

Pepaya dimanfaatkan pula daunnya sebagai sayuran dan pelunak daging. Daun pepaya muda dimakan sebagai lalap (setelah dilayukan dengan air panas) atau dijadikan pembungkus buntil. Bunga pepaya yang diurap menjadi sayuran yang biasa dimakan. Getah pepaya (dapat ditemukan di batang, daun, dan buah) mengandung enzim papain, semacam protease, yang dapat melunakkan daging dan mengubah konformasi protein lainnya. Tujuan PKM adalah (1). Memanfaatkan buah pepaya dengan menggunakan teknologi esterifikasi. (2). Melakukan pembuatan sabun alami dengan penambahan bahan organic untuk menghasilkan senyawa kimia bioaktif Mmenjalin kemitraan kelompok petani pepaya dan pihak terkait (masyarakat dan Desa) agar memanfaatkan buah papaya dan biji papaya untuk digunakan untuk bahan pembuatan sabun. Rencana PKM ini akan diilaksanakan Kecamatan Anggeraja di Kabupaten Enrekang, Jenis luaran yang dihasilkan sesuai rencana kegiatan PKM ini adalah produk berupa teknologi tepat guna berupa esterifikasi di modifikasi untuk menghasilkan sabun alami , Pelatihan pembuatan sabun organic dari limbah papaya mampu meningkatkan kesejakteraan petani di kelurahan tanete dan mampu mengetahui cara mengolah limbah papaya untu produk sabun organic, dan produk sabun tersebut bisa dilaukan dari rumah masyarakat petani tersebut.
