Abstract

Background : Hypertension is still a problem for some people because treatment must be carried out regularly and requires regular visits to health facilities. This is a problem for some groups of society, along with the continued use of drugs that have side effects that they must consume with long-term use. Hypertension occurs when systolic blood pressure > 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure > 90 mmHg. Apart from medicines, we can also treat high blood pressure by using natural ingredients such as tomato juice. Tomato juice contains potassium and lycopene, which can lower blood pressure. Objectives : To determine the effect of giving tomato juice on changes in blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Methods : Quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using a non-randomized control group pretest-posttest approach and a sampling technique using purposive sampling. The total sample was 62 respondents. Wilcoxon test and Mann-Whitney test were used for statistical tests. Results : Wilcoxon test results for systolic and diastolic blood pressure in the intervention group were recorded for each p-value <0.05 before and after the intervention. The results of the Mann-Whitney test for systolic and diastolic blood pressure after intervention showed a p-value <0.05. Conclusion : Giving tomato juice (Solanum lycopersicum) affects changes in blood pressure in hypertensive patients, so it is recommended as an alternative non-pharmacological treatment option.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection caused by the bacillus Myobacterium tuberculosis. is an aerobic bacterium in the form of a rod bacillus, but this bacterium survives against acid, the manifestations that appear are usually the patient complains of coughing up phlegm. Non-pharmacological techniques that can be used to remove phlegm are to perform chest physiotherapy and teach effective coughing, this technique is still rarely used in the field. Nurses are more likely to collaborate in giving antibiotics. This case study was conducted to present the implementation of evidence based nursing providing effective chest physiotherapy and coughing exercise as an effort to expel phlegm in tuberculosis patients. Physical examination was carried out by the persistent method in tuberculosis patients. Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (IDHS), Indonesian Nursing Outcomes Standards (SLKI), Indonesian Nursing Intervention Standards (SIKI). The nursing diagnosis of ineffective airway clearance with the diagnosis number 0001 was given nursing interventions in the form of chest physiotherapy and effective coughing. After being given nursing intervention for 3 days, the ineffective airway clearance was resolved with a patent airway which was characterized by normal breathing frequency, regular breathing rhythm, no additional breath sounds, the patient was able to expel sputum. Effective chest and cough physiotherapy is considered effective in overcoming the problem of airway clearance.

Abstract

Introduction: Asthma is a disease that affects the human respiratory system, so this disease can be categorized as a group of immune diseases that attack the respiratory system. One of the non-pharmacological therapies for asthma can be done with pursued lip breathing (PLB) exercise. Objective: This case study was conducted to describe the pursed lip breathing intervention in reducing shortness of breath in asthmatic clients. Method: This study used a case study design with an evidence based practice implementation approach that focuses on nursing interventions. The research was conducted at the BLUD of Banjar City General Hospital on 27-31 May 2022. The participants in this study was Mrs. S, 65 years old, female, main problem with shortness of breath. The process of assessing and establishing a diagnosis is focused on the main problem. Objective and subjective data becomes a reference for periodic evaluation of nursing implementation. Result: According to the client's admission, asthma usually recurs every 1-2 weeks because of strenuous and tiring activities. However, when confirmed on June 20, 2022, the client admitted that he had not relapsed. Conclusion: The pursed lip breathing intervention is supposed to be effective in reducing shortness of breath in asthmatic clients as evidenced by the client's subjective acknowledgment, although it has not been supported by normal breathing frequency as an indicator of physical health. Theoretically, this research does not conflict with previous research so that it can be a reference in future research. Clinically, pursed lip breathing intervention can be an alternative intervention to reduce shortness of breath in clients with chronic diseases such as asthma in hospitals and health centers. Abstract

ABSTRACT Genetic disorders are diseases caused by changes (mutations) in certain genes. This condition can be passed from parents to children, or occur randomly due to exposure to certain factors. Genetic diseases are caused by a number of factors, including defects in the mother's or father's genes, excessive abortion, a lack of blood cells, and a low white blood cell count. For premature or adolescent life development, early detection of genetic diseases is essential. Although it is difficult to predict genetic disorders in advance, these predictions are very important because the progress of a person's life depends on it. This scoping review focused on articles published in English from 1984 to 2022. The review included interventions related to calculating the inheritance patterns of genetic diseases and outcomes associated with these patterns. Encompassing randomized controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies, and cross-sectional research, the inclusion criteria excluded literature reviews, systematic reviews, and other scoping reviews. The review was conducted across four databases included PubMed, Scopus, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect, with critical appraisal conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute's Critical Appraisal Checklist. Upon meeting the inclusion criteria, seven cross-sectional studies and quasi-experiments were identified. The review of intervention methods for calculating genetic diseases revealed outcomes associated with the inheritance patterns of genetic diseases. The intervention method for calculating genetic diseases has demonstrated its effectiveness in determining the inheritance patterns passed from parents to their children. This information is crucial for devising appropriate treatment plans for individuals affected by genetic diseases. Keywords: Genetic Counseling, Genetic Risk, Inheritance Pattern, Risk Calculation

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus transmitted by mosquitoes. Hematological abnormalities in the form of a decrease in the number of leukocytes which are influenced by the clinical degree due to stress on the bone marrow can occur in cases of DHF. The decrease or increase in the number of leukocytes was thought to be related to the clinical degree of DHF in previous studies. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the number of leukocytes and the clinical degree in patients with dengue infection. This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 39 patients with dengue infection. The data on the results of the examination of the number of leukocytes and the clinical degree were obtained from medical record documents. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman correlation test. 39 study subjects suffering from dengue infection consisting of clinical degrees I (30.8%), II (61.5%), and III (7.7%). The leukocyte count was between 4,000-10,000/µL (59%) and the leukocyte count <4,000/µL (41%). The mean number of leukocytes at clinical grade I was 4.183/µL, at clinical grade II was 4.754/µL and clinical-grade III was 6.100/µL. The results of statistical tests with the Spearman correlation test obtained the value of r = -0.121 and the value of p = 0.462 (p> 0.05). There was no significant relationship between the leukocyte count and the clinical degree of dengue infection. Future researchers are expected to increase the number of research samples so that they can get all clinical degrees of DHF.
