Abstract

Introduction: Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is a natural therapy method that involves direct interaction with the forest environment and is associated with various mental health benefits. This study aims to systematically evaluate the impact of forest bathing on adolescent mental health by analyzing the available scientific evidence. Objective: This study aims to systematically analyze the impact of forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) on adolescent mental health. Method: A systematic search was conducted in the PubMed, ProQuest, JSTOR, and Garuda databases from 2017 to 2024, focusing on adolescent populations experiencing mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, without restrictions on gender, religion, or race. Result: Seven studies involving a total of 245 participants were analyzed. Forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) consistently demonstrated significant benefits in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety while enhancing overall mental well-being. The intervention cycles ranged from one day to five months, with session durations varying between 40 minutes and four hours. These sessions included structured activities in forest environments, such as walking, meditation, and inhaling forest air, either dynamically or statically Conclusion: Forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) is effective in improving adolescent mental health by reducing anxiety and depression while enhancing psychological well-being. The clinical implications for nursing practice include integrating forest bathing as a non-pharmacological intervention in holistic care, particularly in community and school settings, to support stress management and prevent mental health issues among adolescents.

Abstract

Abstract

In the genomic era, understanding the risk of inheriting genetic diseases has become a crucial element in designing effective health prevention and management strategies. The initial step in calculating the risk of genetic inheritance involves gathering information about family health history. Through the analysis of genetic data and family health history, healthcare professionals can determine an individual's potential genetic risk for various diseases. Calculating the risk of genetic inheritance has several important benefits, including early prevention and management, family planning, genetic counseling, targeted therapy and care development, and informed medical decision making. By knowing an individual's genetic risk for a particular disease, they can take appropriate prevention measures or early management actions. These may include lifestyle changes, regular health check-ups, or even advanced genetic testing for early detection. In Family Planning, calculating genetic risk can assist individuals and couples in planning pregnancies and families more effectively. If a high risk is detected, couples can consider options such as genetic counseling, premarital screening, or selecting suitable reproductive methods. Overall, calculating the risk of inheriting genetic diseases can provide individuals and families with valuable information to take preventive measures, make informed medical decisions, and manage their health more effectively.

Abstract

Typhoid is an acute febrile illness caused by a bacterial infection of salmonella typhi and its endotoxin stimulates the synthesis and release of pyrogens by leukocytes in inflamed tissue resulting in hyperthermia. A non-pharmacological technique that can be used to reduce the increase in body temperature in hyperthermic patients is by doing a water tepid sponge bath, this technique is still rarely found in the field. Nurses tend to give antipyretics more often when children experience hyperthermia. This case study aims to present the results of implementing the evidence-based nursing water tepid sponge bath as an effort to reduce fever in typoid patients. Physical examination was performed using the head to toe method in typoid patients. The North American Nursing Diagnosis Association (NANDA) is used to determine nursing diagnoses. Meanwhile, nursing intervention refers to the Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC) and the Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC). A hyperthermic nursing diagnosis with a diagnosis number 00007 is given a nursing intervention in the form of a water tepid sponge bath. After being given nursing intervention for 7 days, hyperthermia was resolved by the criteria that the patient's body temperature returned to normal 36.2 °C. Water tepid sponge bath is effective in reducing body temperature in typoid patients

Abstract

Aims: This research aims to compare the effectiveness between Kuresif audiovisual media and Flip Sheet Media in improving mothers' knowledge and attitudes. Methods: This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a pretest posttest control group design based on the total sampling technique. The research was conducted during August-September 2021. The sample consisted of 102 control groups and 102 intervention groups. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test with questionaire. which aims to determine the effect of applying flip-sheet media and Kuresif audiovisual media on mothers' knowledge and attitudes in providing appropriate complementary feeding. Results: The results showed that in the flipchart media group there was an average increase in knowledge of 4,3% from 11,8% to 16,1%. Mothers' attitudes experienced an average increase of 20,9% from 56,8% to 77,7%. Meanwhile, in the kuresif audiovisual media group the average increase in knowledge was 6,9% from 12,4% to 19,3% and attitudes experienced an average increase of 33,4% from 59,1% to 94,5% with p=0,00. Conclusions: Kuresif audiovisual media is the most effective in increasing mothers' knowledge and attitudes compared with flipchart media. Indonesia is still facing nutritional problems that have a serious impact on the quality of human resources. Mother's lack of knowledge is one of the causes of improper nutritional intake. One way to accelerate efforts to break the cycle of nutritional problems is to increase mother's knowledge through counseling using flipchart media. Based on the evaluation carried out, the flipchart media has not shown an increase in the knowledge and attitudes of mothers regarding complementary feeding. Innovation is needed from counseling media in order to increase mother's knowledge and attitudes.
