Abstract

This study explores the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning, aiming to understand how AI influences teacher-student dynamics, the ethical challenges involved, and students' perceptions of AI in the classroom. The research adopts a qualitative ethnographic approach, engaging with 220 students and 58 lecturers from universities in the Jabodetabek region. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, focusing on the integration of AI tools such as ChatGPT and Gamma. Thematic analysis was employed to identify key patterns in teacher-student interactions, ethical concerns, and student engagement. Findings indicate that AI enhances student autonomy and learning personalization while reducing the direct communication between teachers and students. Ethical challenges identified include data privacy concerns, the risk of over-dependency on AI, and the potential dehumanization of the learning process. From the student perspective, AI reduces language anxiety and increases engagement through flexible, personalized learning experiences, but some students miss the emotional connection traditionally provided by human teachers. The study concludes that while AI offers significant educational benefits, careful consideration must be given to maintaining ethical standards and human-centered teaching practices. Future research should focus on integrating AI tools that support not only cognitive learning but also emotional and ethical aspects to ensure balanced educational outcomes.

Abstract

This research examines the application of philosophy of language in early childhood Arabic language acquisition, focusing on pragmatics, semantics, and hermeneutics. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, the research involved observations and interviews in three Raudhatul Athfal in Riau Islands. The results showed that the pragmatic approach that integrates real-life contexts, such as role-playing, is effective in improving communication skills. The semantic approach, through the introduction of real object-based vocabulary, strengthens children's understanding of meaning structures. Meanwhile, hermeneutics helps children internalise cultural and religious values through interactive stories and daily prayers. Although challenges such as lack of social environmental support and semantic complexity were encountered, great opportunities emerged through educational technology innovation and community collaboration. This research makes a theoretical contribution in the integration of philosophy of language with Arabic language teaching, as well as offering practical guidance for designing more effective and meaningful teaching methods.

Abstract

Sebagai dasar dari berbagai disiplin ilmu, filsafat diintegrasikan ke dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan keterkaitan antara filsafat dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan tinjauan literatur sistematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara filsafat dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dalam kerangka Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar. Pertama, filsafat memberikan panduan bagi proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Kedua, pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dapat dipandang sebagai aspek dari ontologi dalam filsafat. Ketiga, dalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar, pembelajaran bahasa Inggris mengadopsi teori konstruktivisme. Keempat, pendekatan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris sejalan dengan pemikiran filsafat modern dan postmodern. Kelima, prinsip-prinsip filsafat moral diterapkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk membangun kompetensi karakter Pancasila. Keenam, terdapat interaksi timbal balik antara filsafat dan pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Ketujuh, nilai-nilai aksiologis, epistemologis, dan ontologis filsafat tercermin dalam penilaian pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Kedelapan, teori kebenaran dalam filsafat relevan dengan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Kata kunci: Filsafat, Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, Kurikulum Merdeka

Abstract

This study explores and analyzes the use of figurative language in the novel Dilan: He Was My Dilan in 1990 by Pidi Baiq through a stylistic approach. The main focus lies in identifying the types of tropes employed in the narrative text and examining their function in constructing meaning, character development, and aesthetic value in popular literature. A qualitative approach is applied using a descriptive-analytic method, with textual analysis of relevant quotations containing stylistic devices. The data are categorized into four major groups of figurative language: comparison, contradiction, association, and repetition. The analysis reveals that Pidi Baiq creatively utilizes various figures of speech such as metaphor, personification, hyperbole, irony, synecdoche, epizeuxis, and euphemism in his storytelling to produce a distinctive, emotional, and communicative narrative style. These stylistic elements not only enhance the literary aesthetics but also strengthen the identity of the main character as a poetic and humorous teenager, establishing intimacy with the target readers. The findings affirm that language in popular fiction carries high stylistic potential and is worthy of linguistic-literary investigation to enrich the understanding of language dynamics and meaning-making in contemporary literary works.

Abstract

This article discusses Bundo Kanduang folklore from a religious perspective. Folklore is a literary work that describes the life story of a figure or tells about the origin of a region which is intended to provide guidance for community. In some cases, it also becomes a medium to disseminate religious teachings or moral tenets. Despite these primary goals, folklore also aims to entertain the community through stories. This article ultimately attempts to understand the community's belief to Bundo Kanduang folklore from the Islamic orthodoxy point of view. Conservative Muslims tend to consider people's excessive belief to one figure or to treat him/her as a cult is a heresy (bid'ah) which contradicts Islamic teaching.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v18i1.443

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kursus Bahasa Inggris Mahadikarya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis dan fungsi tindak ilokusi yang digunakan guru bahasa Inggris dalam proses pengajaran bahasa di kursus Bahasa Inggris Mahadikarya. Jenis tindak ilokusi dalam penelitian ini adalah, representatif, direktif, komisif, ekspresif dan deklaratif. Fungsi tindak ilokusi adalah menyatakan fakta, pernyataan, kesimpulan, uraian, permintaan, perintah, saran, janji, penolakan, terima kasih, penyesalan dan mengumumkan. Desain penelitian ini adalah studi kasus. Subjeknya adalah salah satu guru bahasa Inggris di Mahadikarya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan perekaman video. Hasil penelitian ini cenderung lebih menitikberatkan pada pendalaman kualitas makna dialog. Data penelitian ini diambil dari ucapan guru bahasa Inggris selama proses pengajaran bahasa. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar observasi, rekaman video, dan dokumen. Analisis data tindak ilokusi dilakukan dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan mereduksi data, menyajikan data, menganalisis data serta mengambil kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan data triangulasi untuk mendapatkan data yang sesuai dan menggunakan data validator untuk mengecek keakuratan penelitian.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Minat baca siswa di sekolah terutama di sekolah dasar masih kurang. Padahal membaca merupakan keterampilan yang sangat esensial untuk menempuh jenjang Pendidikan dari tingakt dasar hingga perguruan tinggi. Gerakan literasi sebenarnya sudah dilaksanakan di berbagai tingkat pendidikan untuk meningkatkan mint abaca, namun belum cukup untuk meningkatlkan minat baca siswa. Maka guru harus memiilki strategi khusus dalam meningkatkan minat baca para siswanya. Membaca nyaring menjadi salah satu teknik pembelajaran alternatif yang mampu meningkatnkan minat baca pemelajar. Rencana kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dirancang selama satu tahun bersama mitra yaitu SDN Jangari. Topik  PKM ini adalah pelatihan Read Aloud sebagai strategi peningkatan kompetensi guru SD di desa binaan, yakni SDN Jangari. Kegiatan PKM akan berupa pelatihan Read Aloud dan lomba Read Aloud untuk kalangan guru SDN Jangari. Tim PKM yang terdiri dosen dan mahasiswa Pascasarjana Program Doktoral Linguistik Terapan akan bekerjasama dengan mitra yakni SDN Jangari. ABSTRACTStudents' interest in reading at school, especially in elementary school, is still lacking, but the ability to read is really needed to for education and careers to a higher level. The literacy movement has actually been implemented at various levels of education to increase reading comprehension, but it is not enough to improve the reading interest among students. So teachers must have special strategies to increase their students' interest in reading. One strategy that teachers can use to increase students' reading comprehension is reading aloud. This community service activity plan is designed for one year with partners, namely SDN Jangari. The topic was Read Aloud training as a strategy to increase the competency of elementary school teachers in the target village, namely SDN Jangari. This community service activities were conducted via Read Aloud training and competitions for Jangari Elementary School teachers. The PKM team consisting of lecturers and postgraduate students from the Applied Linguistics Doctoral Program will collaborate with partners, namely SDN Jangari.

Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital technology has transformed foreign language learning, presenting both opportunities and challenges in understanding language meaning and cultural nuances. This qualitative study explores the role of digital media in the foreign language learning process through the lens of language philosophy, particularly Wittgenstein's language games and Searle's pragmatic theory. Data collected from 20 English education students through interviews and observations highlight the benefits of digital platforms such as Duolingo and YouTube in simplifying linguistic structures and facilitating interactive learning. However, respondents noted limitations in cultural depth and contextual nuance, reflecting the constraints of digital tools in conveying idiomatic expressions and non-verbal cues. The findings underscore the dual nature of digital media as both a facilitator and a constraint in language learning. While virtual platforms like Zoom enhance accessibility and collaborative learning, they often lack the emotional and cultural richness of face-to-face interactions. Respondents expressed optimism about future technologies, envisioning personalized learning environments driven by AI and immersive cultural experiences through virtual reality.The study emphasizes the need for educators to integrate project-based and interactive strategies that balance digital innovation with cultural and contextual engagement. For developers, the findings suggest a focus on adaptive technologies that simulate real-world linguistic and cultural interactions. These insights contribute to understanding language as a social construct mediated by technology, offering practical and theoretical pathways for advancing foreign language education in the digital age.

Abstract

Cateterisasi jantung merupakan salah satu tindakan untuk melihat adanya penyumbatan atau penyemtian pembuluh darah jantung. Saran yang diharapkan dalam penelitian ini adalah lebih professional agar perawat dapat melakukan tindakan mandiri keperawatan dalam memberikan edukasi kepada pasien sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan tindakan cateterisasi jantung. Menanti saat prosedur dilakukan bisa menjadi sumber utama stres dan kecemasan. Perawat harus melaksanakan intervensi yang tepat untuk mengatasi kecemasan pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian edukasi kesehatan terhadap tingkat kecemasan pasien tindakan kateterisasi Jantung di poliklinik kardiovaskuler di Rumah Sakit Omni Pulomas Jakarta Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Quasy Eksperimen dengan rancangan Pretest-Postest dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 26 responden. Instrument yang digunakan adalah instrument baku dari Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. Analisis data univariat pre edukasi dengan standar deviasi 3.80 dan post edukasi standar deviasi 3,361. Sedangkan Analisa bivariat tentang rata-rata kecemasan pre dan post edukasi dengan menggunakan uji paired sample t test diperoleh tingkat kecemasan pre dan post pada tingkat kecemasan dengan nilai signifikan 0.000 atau <0,05 yang berarti H1 diterima yaitu ada pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terhadap tingkat kecemasan tindakan kateterisasi jantung.

Abstract

Background of study: The novel reveals real social inequalities, where access to quality education remains a privilege for a few, while children from underprivileged backgrounds must contend with various limitations, from inadequate school facilities to difficult family economic conditions. Aims and scope of paper: This research explores the representation of politic in the novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata through a social and cultural analysis approach. This novel is a medium for depicting fundamental issues in Indonesian society, such as inequality in access to education, economic injustice and exploitation of natural resources Methods: This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive-analytical approach to explore political, social and cultural meanings in the text. Result: The results of the analysis show that Laskar Pelangi not only criticizes educational policies and socio-political dynamics, but also inspires readers to reflect on the role of literature in voicing social change. In this way. Conclusion: This novel is a reflection of the complexity of Indonesian society as well as a tool for social criticism that is relevant in the study of political and cultural literature.
