Abstract

Abstract

Kademangan Village is one of the villages in Bondowoso Regency which is geographically a densely populated lowland located in the center of Bondowoso City. This area is considered advanced because it directly borders the Bondowoso City sub-district, has road access which is a provincial road to Situbondo, Jember, and Banyuwangi regencies, and is a center of trade because in the village there are several educational institutions, hospitals, and government offices. The results of this study found that the empowerment of poor people who are victims of annual floods in Kademangan Village was carried out through several stages, namely posing the problem or identifying problems, analyzing problems, determining general and specific objectives, preparing detailed action plans, implementing activity programs, and evaluation. While the empowerment process is carried out through a series of activities in the form of preparing local cadre training programs, community assistance, waste bank management, procurement of public facilities to meet basic needs, and assistance for the community in the process of institutionalizing a democratic government system at the village level as a manifestation of regional autonomy. The life skills education provided varies, including self-awareness skills or personal skills, rational thinking skills, social skills or interpersonal skills, and vocational skills or often referred to as vocational skills are what will be further used in community empowerment because they are related to certain fields of work in the community. The manifestation of life skills education is seen in deliberation education, network development, and development of appropriate technology.

Abstract

In the electoral contestation process, the media does not only convey information, but also plays a role in shaping public opinion through framing an election event. This article analyzes how local online media frames the news ahead of the 2024 Re-Vote (PSU) of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia in West Sumatra in a very short span of time, namely 33 days from the Constitutional Court's decision on June 10, 2024 to the implementation of the election on July 13, 2024. This condition is a crucial issue because the availability of a short time has the potential to hinder the adequate flow of information to voters and affect voter participation. This study uses a qualitative method with Entman's framing analysis model, which includes 4 elements, define problems, diagnose cause, moral judgements, and treatment recommendation. Data was obtained from 68 local online media news (Harian Singgalang, Klikpositif.com, Langgam.id, and TopSumbar.co.id) and analyzed using NVivo 12 software to support the coding and visualization process. The results of the study show that the media tends to frame PSU as a technical-administrative problem with the main cause resulting from the Constitutional Court's decision and implementation challenges in a very short span of time. Moral judgments are more directed at appreciation of election organizers, while framing representations of voter votes tend to be minimal. The solutions offered by the media are normative, such as the appeal to participate and massive socialization. The dominant framing of procedural aspects shows a lack of emphasis on the substance of democracy, and can contribute to low voter participation.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of village head policies in managing the financial administration of Mekar Sari Village. The main focus is on the extent to which the principles of transparency, accountability, and participatory governance are applied throughout all stages, from planning to financial reporting. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach by collecting data through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation. The findings reveal weaknesses in the application of good financial governance principles. Limited community involvement in village deliberations, inadequate financial documentation, and the low capacity of village officials are the main obstacles. These results suggest the need to strengthen the competencies of village apparatus and enhance community-based monitoring systems to achieve more transparent and accountable financial administration.

Abstract

Despite the fact that there have been numerous studies into moral values in language textbooks, only a small amount of literature reports the representation of peace or even Islamic values in English for foreign language (EFL) textbooks. As a result, any textbook used by the teacher must contain the essential Islamic and peace values needed to develop students' excellent character. This research is an attempt to carefully examine how Islamic and peace values are portrayed in English Language Teaching (ELT) textbooks for Indonesian junior high school students. Roland Barthes' (1977) semiotic framework and critical discourse analysis Fairclough (2009) (CDA) were chosen as the method for elaborating on Islamic and peace values found in the English textbook as well as the manner in which they are expressed. Findings from Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) show that the representation of Islamic and peace values such as tolerance, respect, and appreciation for others is distorted. It is hoped that this research will encourage teachers and students to actively participate as intermediaries for the application of values in EFL textbooks. Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis, ELT textbook, Islamic and Peace Values.

Abstract

This writing aims to provide readers with views on the application of the inquiry learning model with the experimental method during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, the government decided to implement online learning which was still less effective in improving student learning outcomes, especially in Physics lessons. Physics lessons are factual lessons, and tend to be calculation activities so that a learning model is needed that allows students to be able to think critically and systematically. This writing uses a literature study by reviewing several articles in national journals. From various journal sources

Abstract

This article critically examines Bassam Tibi's conception of contemporary Islamic purification movements in his work "Islamism and Islam" using hadith criticism methodology and the Salaf scholars' tradition as analytical frameworks. The research identifies three fundamental problems in Tibi's thought construction based on manhaj an-naqd al-hadith and the Salaf scholars' critical methodology. First, methodological inconsistencies in understanding the concepts of bid'ah and purification, which contradict the basic principles established in authentic hadiths concerning renewal (tajdid) and purification (tasfiyah). Second, epistemological errors in comprehending the relationship between revealed texts (nass) and ijtihad, which deviate from the Salaf scholars' methodology in understanding the dynamic interaction between the two. Third, secularist bias in analyzing Islamic purification movements that contradicts the Salaf approach in understanding the concept of asalah (authenticity). This research argues that while Tibi raises important issues about extremism in contemporary purification movements, his analysis fundamentally contradicts the hadith criticism methodology and Salaf scholars' tradition. The article concludes that a more balanced approach is needed in examining Islamic purification movements, one that integrates hadith criticism methodology and the Salaf scholars' approach while maintaining a critical stance toward contemporary deviations in Islamic purification practices.

Abstract

Quantum dots (QDs) are semiconductor materials possessing a distinct electrical order and physical dimensions less than the excitation of the Bohr radius. The innovative combination of hydrogel and QDs has a broad range of applications in critical areas like the environment, health, and energy. QDs hydrogel has been applied as a biosensor and in the waste processing industry. The main characteristics of QDs hydrogel are fluorescence and swelling ratio. In the waste processing industry, the swollen hydrogel provides a more porous matrix that allows heavy metal to penetrate the hydrogels via passive diffusion. In the biosensor application, QDs hydrogel can be used as active sensors by changing the fluorescence properties when reacting with analytes, or by conjugating antibodies to the dot surface to act as passive label probes. This study aims to study the effect of pH on the fluorescence and swelling ratio of CuInS2/ZnS hydrogel.  CuINS2/ZnS hydrogel is synthesized by sonication a mixture consisting of QDs (CuInS2/ZnS), N-(3-aminopropyl) methacrylate, polyethylene glycol methacrylate, methylene bis acrylamide, and ammonium persulfate solution for 5 min with amplitude of 20 kHz. CuInS2/ZnS acts as QDs component, while N-(3-aminopropyl) methacrylate, polyethylene glycol methacrylate, methylene bis acrylamide, and ammonium persulfate act as hydrogel synthesizing components. The QDs hydrogel was then immersed in water with varying pH to observe the effect of pH on fluorescence and swelling ratio. The results show that increasing pH will reduce the swelling ratio and increase the fluorescence strength. CuInS2/ZnS hydrogel has a maximum swelling ratio at a pH of 5 and provides strong fluorescence at pH of 7, 9, and 11. The result also revealed that CuInS2/ZnS hydrogel has sufficient fluorescence and swelling ratio characteristic at the pH level of the biological fluid of the human body namely 7.35-7.45, this suggests the biological application of CuInS2/ZnS hydrogel such as for drug delivery and biosensing.
