Abstract

This study aims to improve students' learning achievement in Pancasila Education through the application of Leker's Gamification. This research was conducted in class VII-B of SMP Negeri 2 Ponorogo using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. The research subjects consisted of 32 students in class VII-B. The study began with a pre-test, followed by two cycles of classroom action research. The first cycle utilized conventional written student worksheets (LKPD), while the second cycle implemented Leker's Gamification, a game-based leveled student worksheet delivered through the Wordwall web platform. Prior to the intervention, students' learning achievement was only 40% mastery. After the first cycle, achievement increased to 59%. In the second cycle, a significant improvement was observed, reaching 93% mastery, surpassing the 90% success indicator. These results demonstrate that the use of Leker's Gamification in learning is effective in significantly improving the learning achievement of class VII-B students at SMP Negeri 2 Ponorogo in the Pancasila and Civic Education subject, making learning more engaging, motivating, and student-centered.

Abstract

Understanding tolerance cannot be formed solely through oneway value transmission; rather, it requires a learning process that engages students in critical reasoning toward the reality of social plurality. This activity was implemented as an effort to strengthen students’ understanding of tolerance through the application of a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model based on local multicultural issues in Civic Education learning in class XI B of SMAN 1 Sidemen. The activity aimed to improve students’ tolerance understanding (civic knowledge) through a pedagogical intervention grounded in socio-cultural problems closely related to students’ daily lives. The implementation of this activity used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the spiral model of Kemmis and McTaggart, conducted in two participatory-reflective cycles. Quantitative data were collected using an essay-based cognitive test instrument with a rubric scale covering indicators C2–C5, while qualitative data were obtained through observation sheets of learning syntax implementation. The results of the activity show that exposure to ill-structured problems derived from local social dynamics, such as local–migrant relations and the sensitivity of the caste stratification system, was able to trigger cognitive dissonance, which contributed to the improvement of students’ reasoning quality. This is evidenced by an increase in the average learning outcomes from 58.12 in the Pre-Cycle stage to 72.50 in Cycle I, and reaching 83.15 in Cycle II. The classical completeness percentage also increased from 43.75% to 87.50%, exceeding the predetermined success indicator of ≥80%. Overall, the implementation of a PBL model based on local multicultural issues proved effective in dismantling learning misconceptions, reducing cultural bias, and shifting students’ learning orientation from textual memorization toward analytical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in Pancasila values.

Abstract

The Bantengan tradition in East Java functions not only as an aesthetic performance but also as a medium for preserving local wisdom that is currently facing pressures from modernization, commodification, and generational gaps. This study aims to analyze the interaction between aesthetic dimensions and local wisdom in Bantengan, as well as to reveal the dynamics of meaning transformation and sustainability challenges in the contemporary era. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a cultural studies design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with seven key informants (artists/pawang, traditional leaders, studio managers, and cultural officials) in Malang Regency and Batu City, as well as performance archive documentation. Data analysis applied the interactive model with source and technique triangulation to ensure the validity of findings. The results show that the aesthetic values of Bantengan are manifested in the synergy of kinesthetic movement, gamelan rhythm, and costume symbolism that functions as a medium of collective communication. Local wisdom is reflected in the mechanisms of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), spiritual rituals (nyuguh/nyamuk), and character pedagogy through symbolic combat narratives. However, this tradition faces serious challenges in the form of meaning shifts due to market logic (commodification), declining participation of the younger generation, and friction between sacred dimensions and demands for contemporary entertainment. These findings emphasize the need for adaptive preservation strategies that combine community autonomy, regional regulation, and digital documentation. Theoretically, this article contributes to cultural studies by providing a critical analytical framework regarding the negotiation of aesthetic-local wisdom meanings amid modernization pressures.

Abstract

This study investigates whether embedding structured digital citizenship scaffolds within a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) framework is associated with gains in students’ cognitive digital citizenship knowledge in Pancasila Education. Drawing on digital citizenship theory, digital literacy is conceptualized as cognitive knowledge encompassing critical evaluation of online information, understanding of digital ethical norms, and civic digital reasoning. A quasi-experimental design was conducted with 60 eleventh-grade students assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in CIVICs-based PBL activities integrating verification tasks, ethical dilemma simulations, and structured deliberative discussions, while the control group received conventional instruction. Cognitive digital citizenship knowledge was measured using pretest–posttest assessments. Results indicate that students exposed to the CIVICs-based PBL design demonstrated higher gains compared to those in conventional learning, with a normalized gain in the medium–high category. These findings suggest that aligning digital citizenship dimensions with structured PBL activities may contribute to strengthening students’ cognitive understanding of responsible digital participation in this context. The results of the study show that the CIVICs media received a “very feasible” rating from media experts with a score of 92.5% and from content experts with a score of 90%. Students’ responses to the use of the media were also highly positive, with an average of 87.1%, particularly in the aspect of digital literacy development, which reached 93.3%. The effectiveness test revealed a significant increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class, with an average post-test score of 85.67, higher than the control class, which scored 67.3. In addition, the CIVICs media was rated highly practical with an average score of 88.8%, covering aspects of accessibility, flexibility, and technical support. Students’ digital literacy scores increased from 62.4 in the pretest to 85.67 in the posttest, with a normalized gain value of 0.619, which falls into the medium–high category. These findings indicate that CIVICs media has a positive impact on improving digital literacy as well as the effectiveness of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in Pancasila education.

Abstract

Abstract

This article examines the effectiveness of constitutional control mechanisms applied to village regulations within Indonesia’s statutory system. Although village governments possess regulatory authority under Law Number 6 of 2014 on Villages, ambiguities remain regarding supervision and constitutionality testing of village regulations under Law Number 12 of 2011 and Law Number 23 of 2014. This research employs a socio‑legal study design combining doctrinal legal analysis with empirical field investigation. Empirical data were gathered by document analysis, focus group discussions, and interviews involving village and local administrators in several regencies in East Java. The study analyzes three mechanisms of constitutional control: executive preview and executive review conducted by regency governments, legislative review carried out by village institutions, and judicial review practiced by the Supreme Court. The findings demonstrate that, despite the existence of multiple supervisory mechanisms, their practical implementation remains weak and fragmented. Executive supervision often operates informally, legislative deliberation in villages is frequently less substantive, and judicial review mechanisms are rarely utilized due to limited legal awareness. Consequently, the effectiveness of constitutionality testing of village regulations remains low. This study contributes to constitutional review and decentralization literature by identifying legal and institutional barriers to effective village regulatory oversight.

Abstract

The legislative function constitutes a fundamental pillar of parliament, operating in tandem with the oversight and budgetary functions. The establishment of the DPD within the Indonesian system was originally intended to construct a bicameral system that ensures checks and balances while accommodating regional interests. However, the current constitutional design reflects a flawed mechanism, culminating in a system of weak bicameralism that marginalizes the DPD's institutional role and renders it subordinate to the DPR. Although previous literature has extensively highlighted the DPD's limited authority, prior scholarship remains largely descriptive, focusing on normative reform proposals without adequately addressing the theoretical implications of this asymmetric power distribution. To bridge this research gap, this article employs a normative approach to re-evaluate the DPD's legislative authority, thereby advancing the existing discourse on constitutional design and institutional reform. The findings indicate that the existing anomaly in power distribution distorts the genuine mechanism of mutual control. As its principal theoretical contribution, this study reconceptualizes the parameters of effective asymmetric bicameralism by asserting that genuine territorial representation necessitates a substantive expansion of legislative powers, encompassing independent initiative rights, comprehensive deliberative participation, and decisive final views. This theoretical framework enriches comparative constitutional literature by demonstrating how reconfiguring asymmetric powers is essential to transforming constitutional anomalies into a balanced, effective, and accountable parliamentary system.
