Abstract

An ethnopharmacological study is an initial step for the development of jamu, which has been simultaneously conducted throughout Indonesia. This study aimed to explore the utilization of medicinal plants in Baturraden, a region with relatively rich plant biodiversity in Java. Our research is a quantitative ethnobotanical study reporting the utilization of medicinal plants as a single plant botanical preparation in the studied area. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 36 informants on the local names, indications, parts used, method of preparation, and application of the plants. The species use-value (SUV), relative frequency citation (RFC), and the fidelity level (FL) of each species were calculated accordingly. The study recorded the utilization of 47 species of medicinal plants, which were employed to treat 32 ailments. Leaves, decoctions, and oral were recorded as the most commonly used plant part, herbal preparation, and application. There were 24 botanical preparations with the FL value of 100%, which were indicated for the treatment of fourteen diseases/symptoms. Curcuma longa, Zingiber officinale, Piper betle, Cymbopogon citratus, Andrographis paniculata, Syzygium polyanthum, Citrus aurantiaca, and Zingiber montanum were considered as the most important and valuable plants by the local community. Hence, those plants should be evaluated further for their pharmacological activity and developed into standardized botanical preparations.

Abstract

Baturraden people use a combination of red ginger rhizomes and lemongrass leaves for the treatment of masuk angin. This study aims to evaluate the quality profile of red ginger and lemongrass crude drug, total flavonoid content (TPC), total phenolic content (TFC), and the antimicrobial activities of their combination water extracts. The quality of both crude drugs was standardized to Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopeia (IHP). The TPC and TFC of red ginger and lemongrass combination in five different ratios were determined by standard UV-Vis spectrophotometry methods. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated using the microdilution method against patient-isolated multidrug-resistant (MDR) Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Lemongrass crude drugs were of good quality, while red ginger did not meet the acid-insoluble ash and volatile matter content requirements. The combination showed the highest TFC in a 75:25% ratio, while that of TPC was 50:50%. All combinations of lemongrass and red ginger extracts inhibited MDR Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.16 mg/ml. Candida albicans were more susceptible to the combination extracts. Red ginger rhizomes and lemongrass leaves 75:25% and 50:50% ratios showing comparable effects to the respective components. Hence, the combination of red ginger and lemongrass in 75:25 and 50:50% ratios potentially developed further for their masuk angin efficacy.

Abstract

Pusaka Tani is a shop that provides agricultural needs such as fertilizers, rice seeds and plant medicines. Sales transactions at the Farmer's Library still use a manual system, namely by using notes as proof of sales transactions. The amount of data that accumulates results in less useful data. So that Pusaka Tani cannot know the products that are often purchased by consumers simultaneously which results in many products being sold out without the knowledge of Pusaka Tani which results when consumers are not going to buy these products and products that are rarely purchased by consumers become unsold. The purpose of this study is to model FP Growt in the analysis of product stock supply. In the research conducted, the support value and confidence value used is a minimum support value of 30% and a minimum confidence value of 70%. The results obtained from the research conducted are for the highest lift ratio value of 1.67 and the lowest is 1.09

Abstract

This community service program aims to address the problem of excessive oil content in MOCAF dumpling chips produced by the Bawang Ceria Farmer’s Women Group in Banjarnegara. The previous manual draining process was found to be ineffective, causing the product to turn rancid quickly and have a short shelf life. As a solution, the implementation team introduced an oil spinner machine based on a centrifugal system equipped with automatic speed control. The program was carried out through socialization, hands-on training, and a joint technology trial with the member group. The results indicate that the spinner effectively reduced oil content by approximately 10%, producing chips with a crispier texture and a more appealing appearance. The integrated dimmer and automatic timer features ensured stable processing and consistent product quality. Although a slight decrease in savory flavor was noted due to reduced oil content, the overall product remained well accepted by consumers. Furthermore, the training activities significantly enhanced the members’ understanding and technical skills, as reflected in an increase in knowledge level from 24.61% to 80.48%.

Abstract

Nonprofit organizations increasingly face pressure from donors to demonstrate accountability, transparency, and measurable impact beyond program outputs. Yayasan Perdamaian Indonesia (YPI) has experienced a sustained decline in external funding over the past six years despite expanding program activities, indicating the absence of an effective performance measurement system to support fundraising credibility. This study aims to formulate an integrated Objectives and Key Results (OKR) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) framework as a performance measurement system to strengthen YPI’s external fundraising capacity. A qualitative single-case study approach was employed, with YPI as the unit of analysis. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, a focus group discussion, non-participant observations, internal document analysis, and benchmarking with nonprofit organizations in Malaysia and the Philippines. The data were analyzed using thematic narrative analysis. The findings reveal critical organizational challenges, including weak program documentation, fragmented impact reporting, limited strategic communication, and underdeveloped partnership management. Based on these findings, four strategic OKR objectives were formulated and translated into a set of operational KPIs covering documentation, fundraising, communication, and partnerships. The proposed OKR KPI framework provides a structured and measurable mechanism to align strategic objectives with operational performance, enhance organizational accountability, and improve YPI’s ability to attract sustainable external funding.

Abstract

Abstract

The fruits of the Malayan cherry (Muntingia calabura L.) have been used for diabetes management in Banyumas due to their potential antioxidant properties. This study aims to optimize water extraction for antioxidant properties and determine the organoleptic and physicochemical properties of the selected extracts during 18 days of storage. The effects of the extraction method (infusion, 15-min decoction, 30-min decoction) and the drug-to-solvent ratio (1:10, 1:20, 1:100) on total flavonoid content (TFC), total phenolic content (TPC), and antioxidant activity, measured by DPPH scavenging activity and FRAP methods, were evaluated using their respective standard assays. The selected extract (from infusion at a 1:20 ratio) was stored in airtight bottles at 4±2 °C for 18 days. The organoleptic, pH, and antioxidant properties stability was evaluated accordingly. The crude drug-to-solvent ratio significantly affected TFC, with the 1:100 ratio generating the highest value (6.43 mg QE/g DW). Both the extraction method and the solvent ratio significantly defined TPC, DPPH scavenging activity, and FRAP, with the infusion at a 1:20 ratio showing the highest TPC (4.15 mg GAE/g DW), DPPH scavenging activity (25.2 mmol TE/100 g DW), and FRAP (93.93 mmol TE/100 g DW). Infusion at a 1:20 ratio showed significant decreases in pH, TFC, TPC, and DPPH scavenging activity on day 6 of storage, whereas changes in aroma and taste were observed on day 12. The infusion method at a 1:20 ratio is optimal for extracting antioxidants from Malayan cherry fruit extract. However, its application is limited by significant bioactive degradation during storage, which needs to be addressed with the development of a suitable dosage form.
