Abstract

The School's Health Clinic or Usaha Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) is used as the unit to carry out health programs, especially in the school environment. The UKS has direct benefits for improving the health of schoolchildren and has great potential in the success of the health promotion program for students. This study aims to determine the management of UKS in Primary Schools in Surabaya City and Gresik District in the aspects of UKS management readiness, aspects of ease in understanding my health report card and the ease of implementing my health report card. This study was a cross-sectional observational study. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of the questionnaire analysis, it was still found a number of elementary schools in Surabaya City and Gresik District who are in a condition not ready in the aspects of managing their UKS There are still elementary schools in Surabaya City and Gresik Regency who find it difficult to understand the health report cards for students and also find it difficult to implement student health report cards. The advice that can be given is that schools need to prepare everything, for example, in selecting competent human resources in their fields, seeking readiness for UKS implementation facilities and infrastructure, and coordinating with related sectors such as the Health Office and Education Office related to financial problems in procuring health report cards for students so that all schools in Gresik Regency and Surabaya City can distribute evenly to all students.

Abstract

Land Surface Temperature (LST) can be used to detect the occurrence of climate change. The change in LST can affect disease patterns such as Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). The incidence of DHF in Madura from 2010-2019 showed instability. The highest DHF incidence rate in Madura occurred in 2015. This study aims to analyze the spatial and temporal effect of LST on the incidence of DHF in Madura. The analysis was carried out spatially and temporally, using multivariate regression (spatial) and Autoregression (temporal) methods with a cubic spline for LST. This study used secondary data from two institution. LST data was obtained from the MODIS NASA website, while DHF data was obtained from the East Java Provincial Health Office. LST in most sub-region, increased in 2003 and 2015, then which is in line with the incidence of dengue fever in Madura, which also increased around 2015-2016. The R2 value from the cubic spline test shows that the model used is quite good and has the same performance in all regions of Madura. The Z-value in all regions is negative, which indicates a cold area. The highest Z-value in region 1 is related to Bangkalan Regency which has more incidences of DHF in the highest category. While the lowest Z-value is found in region 3 related to Pamekasan Regency which has never been in the high category. The incidence of DHF based on LST in Madura illustrates that Bangkalan and Sumenep regencies have greater potential than Sampang and Pamekasan regencies.

Abstract

Land Surface Temperature (LST) is a parameter to estimate the temperature of the Earth’s surface and to detect climate change. Papua New Guinea is a tropical country with rainforests, the greatest proportion of which are located on the island of New Britain. Hectares of rainforests have been logged and deforested because of infrastructure construction. This study aims to investigate the change in land surface temperatures on the island from 2000 to 2019. The temperature data were taken from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Terra satellites and were analysed using two statistical models: spatial and temporal. The spatial model used multivariate regression, while the temporal one used autoregression (AR). In this study, a cubic spline fitted curve was employed because this has the advantage of being smoother and providing good visuals. The results show that almost all the sub-regions of New Britain have experienced a significant increase in land surface temperature, with a Z value of 7.97 and a confidence interval (CI) of 0.264 – 0.437. The study only investigated land surface temperature change on New Britain Island using spatial and temporal analysis, so further analysis is needed which takes into account other variables such as vegetation and land cover, or which establishes correlations with other variables such as human health.

Abstract

Background: Gestational weight gain that does not follow the standards can cause long-term problems for maternal and fetal outcomes. Research has found that most pregnant women cannot achieve gestational weight gain according to health standards. Objectives: This review explores the perspectives of pregnant women and antenatal care providers regarding gestational weight gain and nutritional needs. Methods: A systematic review follows the PRISMA guidelines. Several databases were accessed, namely PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect databases, using a combination of the following Medical Subject Heading terms and relevant keywords. The inclusion criteria applied were studies written in English, evaluating the relevant topics, providing full text, and the study was published starting in 2019-2023. Results: A total of 12 articles were reviewed. Respondents were midwives, family doctors, obstetricians, health trainers, administrative officers, and pregnant and postpartum women. The nutritional status of pregnant women studied included normal and obese pregnant women. Obstacles encountered in counseling are patient attitudes, sociocultural issues (sensitive issues), accessibility of resources, and lack of communication training with patients and across professions. Sociocultural, economic status, and interpersonal factors such as social support influence patient beliefs, attitudes, and experiences. Patients may remember their positive experiences in health facilities, but there is also a fear of discrimination they face. Conclusions: This study finds the need for training in counseling and cross-professional communication techniques to health service providers regarding gestational weight gain. Appropriate counseling increases patient comfort during pregnancy and prevents adverse effects that arise during and after pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: The population of elderly worldwide is increasing unnoticed, including in Indonesia. The world's population is aging, and many elderly people experience age-related malnutrition, including deficiencies in some micronutrients. Malnutrition in the elderly is a serious condition when the nutritional needs of the elderly do not match their food intake.   Objectives: This systematic review broadly reviews various micronutrient problems and health impacts on the elderly in several countries. Methods: Systematic review following PRISMA guidelines. Several databases have been accessed; the PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect databases use a combination of MESH terms and relevant keywords. The inclusion criteria applied were studies written in English, evaluating relevant topics, providing full text, and published studies from 2017-2022 Discussion: Many disorders associated with aging are related to micronutrient deficiencies. Various factors cause micronutrient deficiencies in the elderly, but inadequate food intake is the main factor influencing this deficiency. Nutritional deficiencies experienced by the elderly are closely related to decreased immune function. The results of this review explain that the elderly experience malnutrition due to a lack of the following nutrients: vitamin D, folic acid, calcium, and vitamin B12. Conclusions: Micronutrient deficiency in the elderly causes a variety of comorbidities that reduce the elderly's quality of life in old age, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, electrolyte imbalance, dementia, and anemia. The development of food-based dietary guidelines and health promotion regarding elderly nutrition in several countries should be recommended, and it is also necessary to update national food intake references.
