Abstract

This article presents a critical review of Morgan Housel’s bestselling book, "The Psychology of Money", through the lens of behavioral finance. Housel argues that financial outcomes are driven more by human behavior and psychological factors than by technical knowledge or intelligence. The review evaluates key themes in the book—such as risk, luck, greed, patience, compounding, and the emotional dimensions of money-while linking them to foundational theories in behavioral economics by scholars like Kahneman, Tversky, Thaler, and Shefrin. Although the book lacks formal empirical methodology, its narrative-driven approach effectively communicates complex financial ideas to a broad audience. The review also highlights the pedagogical value of the book and its relevance to personal finance education. Limitations regarding academic rigor and global applicability are discussed. Overall, the review underscores the importance of incorporating behavioral perspectives into financial decision-making.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the readability and semantic equivalence in the translation of a bilingualchildren’s book entitled The Amazing Invisible Tiger. The primary focus lies in how meaning from thesource text is transferred into the target language while considering the characteristics of child readers, particularly in terms of sentence structure, word choice, language style, emotional expression, andcultural context. A qualitative descriptive method was employed to analyze the translation data, withspecific categories including sentence length and complexity, lexical familiarity, child – appropriatelanguage style, as well as lexical accuracy, emotional nuance, and cultural adaptation. The findingsindicate that while most of the translations are lexically accurate, several shifts and shortcomingsremain in the expressive style and cultural relevance, which affect readability and reader engagement.Overly literal translations tend to produce rigid and emotionally flat sentences, reducing the story’sappeal for children. Furthermore, the lack of cultural adaptation contributes to narrative dissonancewithin the local context. These findings highlight the importance of a multidimensional approach inchildren’s book translation one that not only emphasizes accuracy but also ensures the languageremains vivid, emotionally engaging, and relatable to children’s linguistic and social experiences. Thisresearch is expected to contribute to children’s translation practices and offer insights into strategies that are more responsive to the psychological needs of young readers.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the types and objectives of questions in the trial of cyanide coffee cases. The method used is qualitative descriptive. The source of research data is the trial conversation of Jessica Wongso's case in the form of video recordings from the Kompas TV YouTube channel. The research corpus was drawn from four trial videos asked in 2016. Data was collected by observation techniques and recording techniques. The research instrument is a human instrument. The transcribed data was analyzed using matching and distribution data analysis techniques. The validity of the data is carried out by theoretical triangulation. Based on the results of the research, two conclusions can be drawn. First, 1585 data consisting of four types of questions were found. The four types of questions include 543 or 34.3% declarative questions, 501 or 31.66% wh questions, 397 or 25% polar questions, and 144 or 9.1% disjunctive questions. Second, when viewed by objective, these types of questions consist of three objectives, namely 713 or 45% of questions constructed for confirmation purposes, 603 or 38.1% of questions aimed at obtaining information, and 267 or 16.9% of questions for clarification. Thus, the process of analyzing the data of the question in the trial of the cyanide coffee case is interrelated between the type and purpose of the question.

Abstract

Abstract

The translation of Japanese novels into Indonesian faces challenges in maintaining their distinctive aesthetic values. Japanese aesthetics often contain unique concepts such as mono no aware and wabi-sabi, which do not always have direct equivalents in Indonesian. This study aims to identify 11 data points of aesthetic value changes in the translation process of the novel Diary of A Void using Derrida's (1978) deconstruction approach. By applying Derrida's deconstruction theory (1978) and Venuti's translation theory (1995), this research aims to uncover the forms of meaning and style shifts in the translated novel Diary of Void. Data were collected through textual analysis of both the original novel and the translation, focusing on diction, language style, and aesthetic representation. The research results show that there are significant changes in aesthetic value, particularly in symbolic expressions and the use of metaphors that have undergone domestication. These findings indicate that there is a negotiation of meaning by the translator to adjust to the target cultural context. Through Derrida's (1978) deconstruction approach, this study shows that meanings that appear stable in the source text can actually be dismantled and reinterpreted in the target text, revealing how the structure of the target language and the translator's ideological choices can influence the final form of a narrative. Subsequent translation studies are expected to open up more space for foreignization strategies, especially when dealing with texts that rely on emotional and symbolic nuances

Abstract

Background: Instant noodle consumption among students is increasing due to factors such as convenience, affordability, and wide availability. However, excessive consumption can have negative health effects, such as hypertension and metabolic risks. Indonesia ranks second in the world in terms of instant noodle consumption, with 14.540 billion servings. Research Objective: To analyze the factors influencing instant noodle consumption behavior among students in the Public Health Program at STIKES Eka Harap Palangka Raya. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with an analytical design. The sample in this study consisted of the entire population of students in the study program, totaling 79 people, using total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires regarding respondent characteristics, knowledge, peer influence, duration of social media use, pocket money, and availability of instant noodles. Results: The study shows that knowledge (p-value = 0.01 < 0.05) and peer influence (p- value = 0.02 < 0.05) have a significant relationship with instant noodle consumption behavior. Meanwhile, duration of social media use, pocket money, and availability of instant noodles (P-value > 0.05) did not show a significant relationship. Conclusion: Two variables were found to have a significant influence, namely the factor of knowledge on instant noodle consumption behavior among students, and the influence of peers on instant noodle consumption behavior. Students are expected to be more discerning in choosing the food they consume on a daily basis.
