Abstract

The development of technology makes online media get a greater portion of readers than print media that were first born. Online media that rely on speed often violate journalistic code of ethics so it should be reviewed so that there is an improvement. This study aims to look at the quality of news on Regional Election (Pilkada) on Malangvoice.com. This study uses a qualitative method. The data source in this research are the news in Malangvoice.com online mass media related to Malang City Election News which was taken in June 2018. This media was chosen because it is one of the most widely read media in Malang Raya. The set of analysis units amounted to 15 Pilkada news in the voting month, namely June 2018. The news quality theory used in this study is in accordance with the Journalistic Code of Ethics, namely accuracy, balance, objectivity, concise, and actual. The results showed Malang Voice has advantages in the field of technical quality such as writing, the object of reporting, brevity and actuality. But Malang Voice has weaknesses in the quality of news content such as accuracy, objectivity and balance.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of storage time and egg weight at room temperature on the interior quality of Magelang duck. The material used were 120 eggs of Magelang duck. The parameters observed were albumen index, egg yolk index and Haugh unit. The 4 x 3 factorial experiment with 2 factors was applied. In which the first factor (A) was the length of egg storage of: a1 = 1 day, a2 = 3 days, a3 = 5 days and a4 = 7 days and the second factor (B) was egg weight of b1 (low = 48,4g – 63,1g)  b2 (medium = 63,2g – 73,6g) and b3 (high 73,7g - 81g,). The data were analyzed by the General Linear Model (GLM) procedure of Statistical Analysis System (SAS). The result showed that there was no interaction between storage time and egg weight on quality interior. Storage time was significant different (P<0,05) on albumin index, egg yolk index and Haugh unit. Egg weight had no effect on index albumen, egg yolk index and Haugh unit.  In conclusion, the quality of the interior began to decline after being saved 3 days and the optimal egg weight for hatching eggs is medium egg weight.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the optimal pressing temperatures and time of a fibre board made from kepok banana stem. The target of density for this fibre board is 0.6 gr/cm3). The board was made by dividing the fibre into three different parts with the same weight (weight ration 1:1:1). After that, each fibre was applied adhesive mixtures by a means of spraying the mixture evenly with a hand sprayer. Having evenly mixed, the fibre was put into a 30 cm × 30 cm × 1 cm mold by an intersecting perpendicular. The physical and mechanical properties were examined based on JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) A 5906-2003. In this research, the variables of observation involved physical properties (density, water content, thickness swelling, and water absorption) and mechanical properties (MOE, MOR, bonding strength, grasp screw strength). The results revealed that the averagevalue of physical properties were stated as follows: the board density was between 0.5618-0.6268 gr/cm3, the water content was between 9.1438%-10.2041 %, the water absorption was between 148.5961% - 120.5571%, the thickness swelling was between 15.5167%-23.9611%. Meanwhile, the average value of mechanical properties were recorded as follows: MOE was between 10553.3831 kg/cm2-15199.4095 kg/cm2, MOR was between 208.2067 kg/cm2-270.0940 kg/cm2, bonding strength was between 0.5012 kg/cm2-1.0790 kg/cm2, grasp screw strength was between 30.9408 kg - 43.3176 kg. The fibre board with temperature 1800C and 10 minutes of prssing time constituted as the optimal treatment to produce a fibre board which met the standard of JIS A 5905-2003 type 5,15,25, and 30.Keywords: fibre board, kepok banana fibre, pressing temperature, pressing time.

Abstract

This study aims were to examine the effect of material composition, particle size and the interaction of both factors on the physical and mechanical properties of particle-cement board from veneer waste, and to determine  the optimal material composition and particle size of particle-cement board accordance to JIS A 5417:1992. The research were conducted at Wood Workhsop Laboratory, Wood Technology Laboratory, Wood Processing Laboratory of Tanjungpura University and Laboratory of PT. Duta Pertiwi Nusantara Pontianak. The materials used were veneer waste, portland cement-type 1 (Holcim), 70% of tap water from weight of cement  and 5% of MgCl2 from weight of cement. The data were analyzed using a factorial experiment in random design complete (RDC) which consists of two factors. Factor A was material composition (cement:particle) consists of 75:25, 80:20, 85:15. Factor B was particle size consist of 20 mesh and 40 mesh. The board were made with size of 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm and with target density of 1 gr/cm3. The pressing was done by manual cold press for 10 minutes, followed by clamping the board for 24 hours with iron clamp. The result showed that the material composition and the interaction of both factors had significant effects on density, moisture content, thickness swelling, MOE and MOR. The particle size factor had  significant effects on density, moisture content, thickness swelling, water arbsoption, MOE and MOR. The board produced which fullfil the JIS A 5417:1992 was made with the treatment with composition cement:particle (85:15) and particle size is 40 mesh.Keyword: material composition, particle size, particle-cement board, physical and mechanical properties, veneer waste.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the physical and mechanical properties of particle board from veneer waste based on the press time and concentration of urea formaldehyde, as well as to determine the best pressing time and adhesive concentration, so as to produce physical and mechanical properties that meet JIS A 5908: 2003 standards. The method used in this research were a factorial experiment in random design complete (RAL) with two factors are factor A (pressing time) consists of 7 minutes and 9 minutes, and factor B (urea formaldehyde concentration) consists of concentrations of 12%, 14% and 16%. The particle board size is 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm with a target density of 0,8g/cm3 and pressed at 165°C with a pressure of 30 kg/cm2. The results showed that density values 0,7640 gr/cm³, water content 8,4509%, water absorption 40,4108%, thickness development 9,9308%, MOE 19.290,5877 kg/cm², MOR 370,5011 kg/cm², IB 2,9925 kg/cm², the screw holding strength 146,7145 kg. In general, all test values meet the JIS A 5908: 2003 standards except thickness swelling and MOE. The best particle board is a particle board made of with a pressing time of 9 minutes with a concentration of urea formaldehyde of 16%.Keywords: pressing time, urea formaldehyde concentration, particle board, veneer waste

Abstract

This study aims at determining the effect of temperature and pressing time on the physical and mechanical properties of Oriented Strand Board (OSB) from the mixture of haur hijau bamboo and rubber wood and to get information related to temperature treatment and pressing time resulting the best physical and mechanical properties of OSB. The board size was 30 cm x 30 cm x 1 cm with target density of 0.75 g / cm3. The type of adhesive used is phenol formaldehyde. The face and back layers use a rubber wood strand while the core layer use a strand of haur hijau bamboo with a ratio of 1: 1: 1. The method used is a factorial experiment in random design complete (RAL) which consists of two factors. Factor A is the pressing temperature comprising 1600C and 1700C, while the B factor is the duration of the pressing time consisting of 7 minutes, 10 minutes and 12 minutes. The pressures used in the study is ± 25 kg / cm2 and the adhesive concentration is 10%. The testing of physical and mechanical properties accordance with JIS A 5908-2003 standard. The results of the research showed that all temperature and all pressing time treatment produced the OSB that meets the JIS Standard 5908-2003 (Base Particleboard Type 24-10). The best quality OSB is noted at the 1700C of pressing temperatures and 10 minutes of pressing time.Keywords : haur hijau bamboo, oriented strand board (OSB), physical and mechanical properties, rubber wood, temperature and pressing time

Abstract

Desa Genteng Kulon merupakan salah satu desa yang berada di Kecamatan Genteng, Kabupaten Banyuwangi. Dalam program pengabdian masyarakat kegiatan KKN Universitas Jember sasaran yang kami pilih adalah mitra usaha kedai kopi. Setelah melakukan survei terhadap usaha kedai kopi, kami menemukan beberapa permasalahan, di antaranya: penjualan menurun akibat dampak pandemi covid-19, masih belum ada inovasi dan strategi pemasaran hanya mengandalkan penjualan luring. Program Kuliah Kerja Nyata Back to Villange di Universitas Jember memberikan pendampingan dan pelatihan kepada masyarkat yang terdampak Covid-19. Metode yang dilakukan dengan beberapa program kerja, di antaranya sosialisasi protokol kesehatan, sosialisasi strategi pemasaran, pengolahan produk kopi, pembuatan logo, dan pelatihan pemasaran produk melalui aplikasi. Program tersebut dilaksanakan dengan tujuan membantu masyarakat yang terdampak Covid-19 dan mengembangkan potensi di Desa Genteng Kulon sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Desa Ranuklindungan merupakan Desa Wisata yang terletak di Kecamatan Grati, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur. Masyarakat yang tinggal di desa tersebut sebagian bekerja sebagai wirausaha. Namun, permasalahan yang terjadi di Era Pandemi Covid 19 ini, masih banyak wirausaha yang belum mengenal adanya penjual melalui marketplace. Penjualan melalui marketplace ini biasanya hanya digunakan oleh Toko yang berproduksi besar saja. Namun, dalam hal ini wirausaha juga perlu adanya pengetahuan mengenai digital marketplace. Sehingga para wirausaha khususnya di Desa Ranuklindungan selain memperoleh ilmu juga akan mempermudah penjualan mereka. Dengan adanya KKN Back To Village Universitas Jember ini yang bertujuan memberikan pelatihan mengenai digital marketplace kepada wirausaha UMKM di Desa Ranuklindungan serta memberikan Inovasi baru terhadap produk dari wirausaha tersebut.

Abstract

Masalah kesehatan di Yayasan Nurul Haqq Sidoarjo adalah kelompok usia dewasa dan lansia yang kurang memperhatikan kondisi kesehatannya, tidak menyadari bahwa dirinya telahmenderita hipertensi, tidak mematuhi jadwal minum obat dan juga tidak rutin memeriksakan kesehatannya secara berkala di puskemas/rumah sakit, serta minum obat-obatan racikan nonmedis yang tidak jelas isinya. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang perawatan hipertensi dirumah dan pengendalian dengan terapi komplementer. Metode yang digunakan adalah Penyuluhan, demonstrasi dan pemeriksaan fisik tekanan darah dan IMT. Subjeknya adalah seluruh ibu di Yayasan Nurul Haqq sejumlah 60 orang. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat berdasarkan pre test dan post test tingkat pengetahuan responden tentang Perawatan Hipertensi di Rumah dan Pengendalian dengan Terapi Komplementer yang diikuti sebanyak 60 responden, didapatkan hasil pre test sebagian sebesar(68%) pengetahuan cukup baik, dan berdasarkan hasil post terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan yaitu sebagian besar (71 %) pengetahuan cukup baik. Pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukkan bahwa Penyuluhan kesehatan sangat penting dalam menambah pemahaman masyarakat tentang perawatan hipertensi dan pengendaliannya.

Abstract

Di dunia industri yang sebagian besar bebannya berupa motor-motor induksi mempunyai pengaruh terhadap sistem kelistrikan PLN secara menyeluruh, dikarenakan motor induksi memiliki faktor daya kurang dari satu.  Dengan faktor daya yang kurang dari satu atau cenderung bersifat lagging (arus tertinggal terhadap tegangan) maka jaringan akan bersifat induktif dengan kata lain nilai rugi-rugi juga akan semakin besar. PLN menerapkan target untuk jaringan minimal faktor dayanya adalah 0,85 lagging. Dengan ketentuan ini maka jaringan dengan faktor daya kurang dari 0,85 lagging akan dikenakan denda oleh PLN. Perancangan bank kapasitor otomatis sebagai kompensasi beban induktif di PT. Simoplas (Pabrik I) merupakan solusi agar perusahaan tidak selalu membayar denda ke PLN dan juga untuk memperbaiki kualitas jaringan listrik agar semakin baik.kata kunci : bank kapasitor, beban induktif, dan koreksi faktor daya
