Abstract

Water use efficient varieties in rice may have good opportunity in term of economic value and scarcity of water. This study was conducted to determine water consumption among rice genotypes that conventionally cultivated as low land (IR64, IPB97-F-15, Ciherang, Mentik Wangi, and Rokan hybrid), up land (Jatiluhur, Silugonggo), and amphibian type (Way Apo Buru, that could be planted both as lowland and up land). Rice seedlings at 14 days old were transplanted in a plastic container containing 83 kg of air dried soil, 1 plant per whole and 6 plants per container. The experiment was conducted in a vinyl house, using randomized complete block design with three replications. During rice growth, water table was maintained at 2 cm above soil surface, and water was added and recorded weekly. The results showed that varieties reveal production components and yield were different significantly. Water consumptions among varieties were significantly different, ranged from 15.93 L plant-1 for IR64 to 24.13 L plant-1 for Jatiluhur, or equal with 3,639 to 4,827 m3 ha-1. Jatiluhur was the most efficient variety in using water. This finding may guide us to explore benefit of water use efficient variety as sustainable option in water management of rice cultivation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTDrought has become a main barrier of rainfed rice in dry climate and short wet season areas. Growing drought-tolerance varieties is a practical approach to minimize yield lost of rice by the drought stress condition. The aims of this research were to examine the inheritance of drought tolerance character, to identify selection traits, and to estimate genetic gain for drought tolerant on lowland rice. Four rice varieties, i.e., Jatiluhur, Mentik Wangi, IR64, Way Apo Buru, were fully diallel crossed. The parent varieties and the F1’s were grown at Sawah Baru, Dramaga experimental field in two irrigation treatments, optimum and sub optimum where irrigation was applied until three weeks after transplanting. A randomized complete block design with three replications for each irrigation treatment was applied to the experiment. The results showed that there is a significant maternal effect on tiller number. The values of additive variance were higher than the dominance for all other characters except tiller number and grain weight per plant. The highest value for narrow sense heritability was achieved by panicle length.Keywords: diallel, drought, genetic, rice

Abstract

Aromatic new plant type (NPT) rice lines were selected to obtain high yielding and aromatic lines. The objectives of the research were to study the yield stability and adaptability of 35 NPTrice lines across different environment, with Ciherang and Sintanur as check varieties. The lines planted at two locations, Bogor and Pusakanagara in two seasons (2009 dry and wet seasons, DS-WS). The experiment used randomized complete block design (RCBD), with three replications. The 21-day-old seedlings were planted with spacing of 20 cm x 20 cm, with a plot size of 2 m x 5 m. Yield stability and adaptability were estimated by using coeffi cient regression (bi) and general mean of yield by Finlay-Wilkinson method. Combined analysis of variance showed that lines (G), environment (E), and the G x E interaction were signifi cantly different. Lines showed different stability and adaptability . Several lines yielded higher than Ciherang variety . Nine lines were classifi edasstable and widely adapted at the marginal environment, i.e IPB 116-F-3-1, IPB 117-F-4-1, IPB-117-F-14-2, IPB-117-F-15-2, IPB-117-F-17-5, IPB 140-F-1-1, 140-F-IPB, 2-1, IPB 140-F-3, and IPB 149-F-2. Lines IPB 113-F-2, IPB 140-F-4, IPB 140-F-6, IPB 140-F-7, and B11738-MR-Si-1-2-1-2 were not stable and adapted only in optimum environmental condition (bi > 1) while IPB 116-F-46-1, IPB-117-F 17-4, IPB-117-F 18-3 and B11955-MR-84-1-4 has the value of bi < 1 or adaptable to marginal environments.Keywords: aromatic rice, NPT rice, yield stability

Abstract

Global climate change will imply to increase in atmospheric temperature, which can affect the sensitive stadia and decrease rice yield. The objective of this research was to study the growth and production of rice varieties under hightemperature stress. This research was conducted using a split-plot design under partitioned polyethylene house in order to create temperature differences among main-plots. The partitioned treatment successfully increased by 1.7 °C of average temperature with a maximum temperature of 35.0 °C (T1) and 37.6 °C (T2). Rice varieties, namely IR64, Ciherang, IPB-3S, Way Apo Buru, Jatiluhur, Menthik Wangi and Silugonggo were randomized as sub-plot. The results showed that increasing temperature had no significant effect on plant height, tiller number, SPAD-value, leaf area index, and crop growth rate, but significantly decreased 1,000 grains weight by 4.57% and harvest index by 20%. The interaction between temperature and varieties significantly affected a percentage of a productive tiller and partially filled spikelets. Ciherang variety produced the lowest percentage of productive tillers on T2 by 57.6%. Way Apo Buru variety produced the lowest percentage of partially filled spikelets on T2 by 3.01%.

Abstract

Unsur nitrogen (N) memainkan peran penting pada tanaman padi termasuk dalam meningkatkan hasil tanaman. Terdapatnya perbedaan hasil gabah pada masing-masing varietas padi sangat erat kaitannya dengan karakter pengisian biji. Dengan demikian, respon karakter pengisian biji dan hasil dari varietas padi yang berbeda terhadap kondisi N di dalam tanah sangat relevan untuk dikaji. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji respon karakter pengisian biji dan hasil empat varietas padi terhadap pemberian pupuk urea. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan persawahan Desa Petapahan, Kampar, Riau pada bulan September sampai Desember 2020. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan petak terbagi dalam rancangan acak kelompok. Dosis pupuk urea (0 kg ha-1 dan 250 kg ha-1) merupakan faktor pertama sebagai petak utama, sedangkan varietas (Hipa 18, IPB 3S, Ciherang dan Way Apo Buru) merupakan faktor kedua sebagai anak petak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa Hipa 18 merupakan varietas padi yang melakukan remobilisasi asimilat dalam jumlah yang paling banyak selama fase pengisian biji. Selain itu, Hipa 18 juga menggunakan N dalam persentase yang paling tinggi untuk pembentukan dan perkembangan malai dibandingkan varietas lainnya. Respon tertinggi untuk semua komponen hasil juga diperoleh dari Hipa 18 kecuali bobot 100 biji. Hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan sebagai dasar dalam merakit varietas padi yang memiliki karakterisik hasil tinggi. Disamping itu, pemupukan yang presisi untuk masing-masing varietas padi dapat direkomendasikan. Kata kunci: bobot kering, fotosintesis, indeks luas daun, kandungan N daun, remobilisasi asimilat

Abstract

Fruit drop occurs frequently and causes low fruit harvesting. The information about the use of the hormone GA3 in suppressing fruit drop in pummelo is still not available. This research aimed to examine the role of GA3 on fruit drop and fruit quality in seeded and seedless pummelo. This research was conducted from December 2019 until June 2020 in Tambakmas Village, Sukomoro District, Magetan Regency. The experiment used a nested design with two factors, i.e., cultivars as the main factor (Bali Merah 1 and Bali Merah 2) and spraying GA3 as a nested factor (without spraying GA3, sprayed with GA3 at 1st week after anthesis (WAA), and sprayed with GA3 at 1st and 3rd WAA). Bali Merah 1 belongs to seeded pummelo, while Bali Merah 2 is a seedless pummelo. The observation variables consisted of the concentration of GA3 at 4th, 5th, and 6th WAA, final set, the number of fruit drop, fruit weight and diameter, edible portion, total soluble solids (TSS), total titratable acidity (TTA), TSS/ATT ratio, and vitamin C. The result showed that the GA3 spraying increased the final set of pummelo but the treatment had no significant affected on fruit weight, fruit diameter, TTA, TSS/TTA ratio, and vitamin C content. The GA3 spraying at 1st and 3rd WAA suppressed fruit drop and increased the GA3 concentration of fruit at 4th, 5th and 6th WAA, the edible portion and TSS of pummelo fruit. Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan produksi dari dua varietas padi yang berbeda, yaitu IR64 sebagai varietas padi sawah dan Jatiluhur sebagai varietas padi gogo yang dibudidayakan secara sawah dan gogo. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan Februari hingga Juni 2012 di rumah plastik Kebun Percobaan Sawah Baru, Institut Pertanian Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan percobaan petak terbagi dengan tiga ulangan. Sistem budidaya yang digunakan yaitu sawah dan gogo yang ditempatkan sebagai petak utama; sedangkan varietas IR64 dan Jatiluhur ditempatkan sebagai anak petak. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan sistem budidaya berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi padi. Perlakuan varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan padi, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi. Interaksi perlakuan sistem budidaya dan varietas secara umum berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap produksi padi. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa varietas padi gogo dapat ditanam secara budidaya sawah dengan hasil yang tidak berbeda dengan varietas padi sawah.

Abstract

Kegiatan bertujuan untuk mengetahui manajemen pengendalian gulma kelapa sawit. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dari bulan Februari sampai Juni 2011. Pengumpulan data dilakukan di Angsana Estate, Kalimantan Selatan. Metode tidak langsung dengan melakukan studi pustaka berupa literatur dan laporan kebun. Gulma berdaun lebar banyak mendominasi areal perkebunan. Perbandingan nilai koefisien komunitas gulma tiap tahun tanam tidak homogen, nilai C < 75%. Pengendalian gulma dilakukan di dua tempat yaitu di gawangan dan piringan, secara manual dan kimiawi. Pengendalian secara manual dilakukan pada tanaman yang masih muda (TBM) dan TM. Pengendalian secara kimiawi dengan menggunakan herbisida sistemik sesuai dengan pedoman prinsip dan kriteria kebun yang berkelanjutan dengan Block Spraying System (BSS). Tidak semua gulma di ASE dikendalikan, beberapa jenis gulma dipelihara untuk tujuan tertentu (beneficial plant) seperti menjaga kelembaban tanah, meningkatkan bahan organik dan nutrisi dalam tanah serta dapat mengatasi serangan hama. Beneficial plant tersebut antara lain Euphorbia heterophylla, Cassia cobanensis, Antigonon leptopus dan Turnera subulata.

Abstract

Kegiatan magang memberikan ilmu dan keterampilan dalam budidaya kelapa sawit baik secara teknis maupun manajerial. Kegiatan magang dilaksanakan mulai bulan Februari hingga Juni 2014 di kebun Hatantiring, Kalimantan Tengah. Aspek pemanenan mencakup rotasi panen, taksasi produksi, sistem panen, pengawasan terhadap kehilangan hasil (losses), dan produktivitas. Pengamatan diuji dengan analisis uji t student dan analisis uji LSD. Berdasarkan analisis uji t diketahui bahwa rotasi panen terlambat akan menambah persentase brondolan sehingga peluang kehilangan hasil (losses) juga akan meningkat. Berdasarkan uji LSD pada pemeriksaan losses pertama dan kedua menunjukkan hasil signifikan begitu juga pada pemeriksaan kedua dan ketiga. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa arahan dan pengawasan mampu meingkatkan kesadaran karyawan panen dalam menekan losses. Peningkatan produksi juga dapat dicapai dengan melakukan sistem panen yang lebih efektif dan efisien. Sistem panen DOL C1R2 dinilai lebih efektif dan efisien dari pada sistem panen DOL C1R1 karena output pemanen mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini berpengaruh terhadap bertambahnya pendapatan karyawan dan pengurangan jumlah karyawan.

Abstract

Kegiatan penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Seruyan Estate dari Februari hingga Juni 2016. Kegiatan magang ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari aspek teknis dan manajerial peremajaan kelapa sawit dan menganalisis kesesuaiannya dengan kriteria RSPO dan ISPO saat kegiatan replanting. Pengamatan yang dilakukan meliputi tahap-tahap peremajaan yang tepat berdasarkan standar yang telah ditetapkan perusahaan, prestasi kerja alat, dan prestasi kerja karyawan. Hasil pengamatan tersebut kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan standar yang berlaku pada kegiatan peremajaan. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa tahap peremajaan dibagi menjadi dua tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan lahan yang meliputi sensus pokok, pancang rumpuk, penumbangan, pencincangan, merumpuk pokok, deboling, tutup lubang deboling, pembuatan jalan kontur; dan tahap penanaman yang meliputi pemancangan titik tanam, penanaman kacangan penutup tanah, pembuatan lubang tanam, dan penanaman tanaman kelapa sawit. Seruyan Estate telah memenuhi kriteria RSPO dan ISPO dikarenakan adanya kewajiban mengelola area Nilai Konservasi Tinggi di dalam kebun. Selain itu, kegiatan peremajaan di Seruyan Estate juga tidak menggunakan api saat melakukan persiapan lahan.
